[Q] Flashing Themes with Epic 4G - Epic 4G General

I recently just rooted my Epic 4G and now I would like to flash a theme. The theme I want to flash is located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1368585. I would just like to know what I need to do in order to flash this theme on my phone. If I need to download anything please posts the link as well. Thank you in advance

U jst need to be on a deoxed custom rom. Before u flash the theme u need to wipe cache and dalvik cache and that's it. Cool theme btw I'm running it since the first version

You will need to flash a ROM other than stock first. This theme requires a deodexed ROM which anything other than stock usually is. So go to Development and look through the top few ROMs and pick one to flash. I recommend Legendary or a lot of people also like ACS ROM. Then after you flash your ROM you can flash the theme.

I love that theme!
If you have clockwork mod installed, flash the latest build of either the ACS ICS or ERA ROM for EI22
I know that theme work without issue with both
After flashing the ROM via clockwork mod recovery and bootibg up to do a quick check, flash the zip file for the theme in CWM recovery
Then boot up and setup your phone to you final preferences

I may be little outdated here, but all of those who haven't given this theme a go , should definately check it out :

[Q] Cyanogen & Kernals

Newb question that I couldn't find the answer to.
Since CyanogenMod is AOSP and Stock is Sense:
Does the current version of CyanogenMod (v7.x) download files contain changes to the kernal?
If not, will Cyanogen v7.x run stable with the Stock HTC kernal?
I want to try out Cyanogen v7 but due to work I need to be able to flip back to Stock rooted for stability if needed. I just want to know if I'll need to worry about flashing the kernal too when flipping back and forth.
Thanks....
Any ROM comes packaged with an appropriate kernel once flashed. There are alternatives but the stock Cyanogen kernel is pretty boss on its own.
Yes cm7 contains its own aosp kernel.
No sense kernels will not work on aosp roms.
Every rom comes with its correct kernel.no need to flash one unless you want to.

Thanks for the reply.
Will be giving the latest cyanogen RC a try tonight.
And, as I just read, the Nand backup covers the kernal, I wont have to worry about separatly flashing the kernal back to stock if I need to restore.
Somewhere I got the idea that the ROM and Kernal were separate flashes.
Thanks....
Not sure about anyone else, but cyanogenmod included kernel for me has been pretty much 100% stable for me. I didn't get any restarts until I started flashing other kernals and some mods.

back up cid missing

hi all trying to root my wildfire i have unlocked it with xtc clip
it was on 2.2 but i have now installed 2.1
software number 1.14.405.2
s-off
when i run unrEVOked 3.21 it will give back up cid missing
tried PC49IMG.zip says wrong image
Since you have s-offed you don't need unrevoked to root! B-) flash clockworkmod recovery and then flash the superuser zip file. Ill post links when I get to my laptop

Ok download rom manager from the market. Open it and flash the latest version of clockworkmod recovery. Then download this zip http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/su-bin-3.0.3.2-d-signed.zip . Then boot into bootloader and select recovery. Then perform a nandroid backup (just incase) then select install zip, then choose zip. Then scroll to the downloaded zip and flash it. After this you should be rooted and ready to go. When it succeeds perform another nandroid backup so you have one with root good luck

thank you all done now just need to find good rom any ideas?
The best choices are:
Sense based roms if you like HTC sense. The 2 that are still being developed atm are rempuzzle by kylon and dk by deep knight, both are very good.
Cm7
Gingerbread rom, highly customizable full of features and highly recommended by me as its the rom I always fall back to. There is a stable version cm7.1.0.1 it doesn't have as many features as the nightlies, which have stalled for the moment at nightly #256. The nightlies are just as stable as the stable version if not more in my eyes so if cm7 is your choice don't be put off by the nightlies are experimental warnings.
Then there's a number of AOSP roms which are basically like a very light gingerbread rom. They don't have as many features as cm7 but make up for it by being a bit faster straight from the box. Also the camcorder isn't working and dialler needs slightly resizing but I'm sure schiznik will eventually figure it all out, then the rest will follow suit. The best choices of aosp atm are Oxygen by schiznik, Splashmod by Jamal.
There are a number of other experimental roms such as the new ics android 4 and the newer sense, but they are very buggy and I wouldn't recommend them to you just yet.
Bookmark this page as its probably the most useful thread on XDA for wildfire users, there's a full list of roms in the first post but the ones I've mentioned are probably you're best bet for now.

Do i need to change the stock 2.3.5 with a custom ROM?Can anyone to tell me what the differences are? And finaly recomandations for some other from the stock one theme? Thanks

1. You need to install CWM recovery only if you flash custom roms.
2. You dont need, if your happy with stock.
3. Differences are unique for roms. You can read them from rom threads usually.
4. Cant help you with theme
Stock roms are good but custom roms are way better than the stock.
Recently i change my stock rom with cyanogen and i see that the phone i faster than ever.
With custom rom you see the real power of the phone.
thank you julle131....and -TRANE-....i'll thing about changing the stock rom with the custom ones...thanks anyway
I recommend you installing CWM, you see, there are some really fancy stuff in UOT kitchen like more informative battery indicators and other goodness, and to install it you need custom recovery image.
What about custom ROMs, I've only tried CM7, but sadly sound of the back speaker is bad. Try it yourself, if you can cope with it then CM7, or maybe MIUI is the way to go, since custom ROMs almost always are better than stock no matter how good the last one is.

ok i will check it
I agree :good:
try flashing Hyperion ROM or Mini ROM. there two of my favorite roms
It depends on the updater-script file in the zip file of the rom.
Sometimes you have to format the data/system/cache. Sometimes you have to mount it first but sometimes you don't have to.
