Hello SGS2 users.I know that some of you have reported this issue
and i think i found the solution to this <<bug>>.
Plug your phone charge it 100% when it's done go to battery usage unplug the
cable and it's done . No more time without signal bug.
Maybe it works the same if you do this operation without charging it to 100%.
If that helped press the THANKS button doesn't cost anything
It'll work whenever you go into status... Such a random bug!

There is a good app called no signal alert i recommend if you are expecting an important call to ensure you are in an area with a good signal.

Firstly how did you come to that conclusion?
Secondly, how do you know that process isn't doing a lot of needed work? After all, Dalvik drains a huge amount of battery too. Without it though, the phone is pointless..

I have 0 but battery life is normal. Just because the bar is full, it doesn't even indicate that it took much power. You might have other factors to consider for the poor battery life.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Ive come to the conclusion because:
Once the process didnt show up and i had like double battery life.
The proceess also doesnt show up on every sgs, and ppl who got the process r also complaing about battery life (most of them)
I believe it has something to do with rootinga

STOP BUMPING THIS! It's damned annoying.
Secondly, it may be caused by a broken application, or something else. The best way to learn more is to run proper tests. Remember, a few guys might "have this problem", but that doesn't mean the firmware is faulty. There are also people here who are saying that there is no GPS problem, and that Google Maps/MyTracks is faulty. Just because someone says something, doesn't mean it's accurate.
Process 0 may be sucking up your battery life, but if you want to solve the mystery, spend your time running tests to isolate what causes it, don't spend your time bumping a thread. .

Have you test to flash the rom after backing up your data ?
Maybe this could solve the problem !
Because bumping and bumping is simply useless !!
In fact, I have just tried. A full reflash, repartition on Odin using DXJPE firmware (latest SEA firmware).
Without rooting, or any apps being installed or any custom kernel, '0' process was seen active immediately after the first reboot.
Pretty much we can assume it is a designated Android process.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere 2.2.1 hides system processes like "0" in settings, they're still there, just not shown. You can see their stats in spare parts though/

Not sure which you want to fix - you asked 2 totally unrelated questions in one thread. Probably not a good approach. Nobody reading your thread title will come in here to answer a GPS question.
As for that GPS question, make sure in Settings, Location & security you have Use GPS Satellites checked.
I've found that when I think its off it really isn't. I long press the power button and that's what turns it off at least for me. Now I press the power button once maybe twice lightly to wake it

If you have a WiFi permanently disabled or very weak, try to do it:
Open the file /system/etc/firmware/wlan/prima/WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini in text editor.
Change the line gEnableBmps = 1 to gEnableBmps = 0
Save and reboot
This increases the stability of the WiFi and fixes WiFi from regular stops.

Any issues with battery life after doing this? After googling came across a posting regarding this code and the Nexus 4 where it increased the idle battery usage from 0.5% to 5% per hour.

Good to hear. I just did the edit and it fixed the issue i was having with the AirDroid app where before it would disconnect if the screen went off, now it works even with it off
Don't know about battery drain but this seems to definitely speed up connection to my wlan. Before I would get one or more authentication errors before it would connect but it seems pretty instant now. Will keep an eye on battery and report back.
EDIT: I don't think its helped actually. That said my issues sound slightly different, in that once I'm logged on things are good, but it can take five or six time s to log on if I don't have a good signal.

Perhaps some logcats or dmesgs can help?
Seems this is not the magic fix i thought it was, battery drained a huge amount overnight in idle mode when i was asleep. Corresponds to roughly what other people said in other forums about battery draining at about 5% per hour in idle mode as opposed to 0.5% per hour at default setting.
Seems its more an issue of Sony having to optimise WIFI settings to work correctly as it's probably mostly at default Android settings currently (with some changes by Sony, but clearly not enough changes).
Is anyone else having any issues with the speaker when they are making calls on there S5? Whenever I'm talking with someone on the phone every 4 or 5 seconds I hear a low frequency beep the lasts about 1.5-2 seconds and then it goes away... After another 4 or 5 seconds it does it again. I really hope it's a software issue as I don't want to send my new phone in for a repair already.

Try disabling CARRIER IQ or removing it if you are rooted and then check for the beep afterwards see if it's gone and let us know what your results.

Well if you are not rooted go into settings then backup and reset and then collect diagnostics and uncheck it and this theoretically turns it off, now if you are rooted you can install root explorer open it up make sure that you are mounted as rw then search the root directory for carrier iq and delete it this removes it from the device.

Sorry.. but what exactly do you mean by "disable carrier iq"? Cause I'm a real newbie when it comes to doing administrative stuff to your phone...
I also thought that it maybe could be worth Factory reseting your phone? But I've got a lot of settings and stuff that I don't want to do again.. but if it's really needed I'll do it.

I tried that. But I'm afraid it did not work.. The annoying sound is still active. But the weird thing is that sometimes and on some calls it's occures very often and being annoying as hell.. and then again it can be off for like another call that lasts 30min+.. I hope that it's the phones own speaker that's broken or something..

Yeah. I tried all of them regular settings. Minutebeep, noise reduction etc.. The sound kept going. But I also noticed that when I connected my headphones and talked trough them that there was no annoying sound.. so I guess it's something with the phones own speaker.
But I put the phone on service today after 11 days of usage... lol. Hope they'll fix it!
I don't hear the issue when I'm using bluetooth in my car either. That being said I'm pretty sure it's a issue with the speaker in the phone. Time to swap it out for another device!
