If you have a WiFi permanently disabled or very weak, try to do it:
Open the file /system/etc/firmware/wlan/prima/WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini in text editor.
Change the line gEnableBmps = 1 to gEnableBmps = 0
Save and reboot
This increases the stability of the WiFi and fixes WiFi from regular stops.

Any issues with battery life after doing this? After googling came across a posting regarding this code and the Nexus 4 where it increased the idle battery usage from 0.5% to 5% per hour.

Good to hear. I just did the edit and it fixed the issue i was having with the AirDroid app where before it would disconnect if the screen went off, now it works even with it off
Don't know about battery drain but this seems to definitely speed up connection to my wlan. Before I would get one or more authentication errors before it would connect but it seems pretty instant now. Will keep an eye on battery and report back.
EDIT: I don't think its helped actually. That said my issues sound slightly different, in that once I'm logged on things are good, but it can take five or six time s to log on if I don't have a good signal.

Perhaps some logcats or dmesgs can help?
Seems this is not the magic fix i thought it was, battery drained a huge amount overnight in idle mode when i was asleep. Corresponds to roughly what other people said in other forums about battery draining at about 5% per hour in idle mode as opposed to 0.5% per hour at default setting.
Seems its more an issue of Sony having to optimise WIFI settings to work correctly as it's probably mostly at default Android settings currently (with some changes by Sony, but clearly not enough changes).

I got pretty bad battery life today.
Usually I make it through a day with moderate use.
Today though, it was really bad thanks to "tcmd".
Thats all the info the battery usage page gives me.
55% and 2h:40m CPU time !!
What is that process? First time I see that problem.
My display time was just 55 mins today.
I am rooted on 57.
In terminal, "ps" gives me mot_tcmd /system/bin/tcmd
Anyone seen that before? What is that?
Thx
Me too! I used to use one battery charge per day and all of a sudden my battery is dead. Batter shows tcmd using 40%... I thought it may be related to the 1.8.3 update I applied over the weekend. The internet says tcmd is total commander app which I dont have unless its bunded with another app. I dont see it in the task manger either. Any info would be great. Thanks!

Im running stock 8.3 no root. After I simply restarted my phone I havent had the issue resurface again. Weird fluke I guess. My guess is that process must connect or do something over the wireless network and att may have been having issues with whatever that service is causing the service on our phones to use up all the battery while retrying. That theory but who knows.

i used max 7h for 1 changed of battery . the baatery of atrixis very bad or processer run so fast ????
The default wifi scan is set to 3 minutes in the build.prop. This is not acceptable for me to wait 3 minutes when the phone boots to wait for a wifi connection. I've changed it to 30s, but does anyone know of a better way of addressing this? It seems this setting might be bad for battery life.

I set mine to 30 sec in the build.prop as well after installing V6... seems the simplest way to edit. I'd imagine that battery drain is negligible.
Hello everyone,
My S2 only last for 10-13 hours and it drains battery too fast. Tried everything and nothing happened.
In my phone i disabled almost everything which drain battery.
No Facebook
No auto syn of Gmail
Access location is off.
GPS Off
Soft key light/Vibration off
No skype
Disabled Accu weather app
Disabled many others bloat ware
Brightness is set at almost zero level
Better Battery Stats show connectivity wake lock. i think ghis the main problem for drain.
And plz tell me how can i set my phone to only gsm. There is no option for that in phone. In setting it says GSM / wcdma and only wcdma. I set it at gsm/wcdma. Am from Pakistan and here there is no 3g/wcdma.
And if by dialing *#*#4636#*#* i choose gsm, it comes back to gsm/wcdma. Is it draining battery?
<nvm, didn't read properly...>

what ROM are you using ??
What!?
You wrote "My S2 only last for 10-13 hours and it drains battery too fast."
On attached screenshot you have 80% left after 6 hours of usages whereas 48% is used by Screen and 17% is used by Boat Browser.
You have to expect about 1~1½ % drain per hour ... even if you don't use your phone.
Screen drains a lot depending of your amount of Brightness! If you can get 4 hours Screen On, your happy.
From what I can see ... your battery time is totally normal!
I have Stock rom ICS 4.0.4
My cellphone is branded version and it comes from 3 Mobile UK.

no its not normal.. today i charged it and not use it for 2 hours.. i put it on airplane mode and leave it for 2 hours after 100% charge, to check the partial wakelocks.
I thought this time connectivity service wakelock doesn't appear but it does.
i thought connectivity service wakelock is due to mobile signal but when i put it on airplan mode for 2 hrs this partial wakelock still appear.

Hmm , I am not a Fan of ICS though, but the battery time which you have shared (Just Saw it) LOL , it is totally fine , and secondly , use a safe kernel to root the phone (PhilZ Kernel) link is in my signature , and then Flash NeatROM Lite v4.0 , my battery lasts easily 18-20h and i am a heavy user of the phone with Calls , Messaging , FB , Twitter, Whatsapp, Viber & Tapatalk

PLS STOP with all this Juice Defender nonsense! A task killer often will drain your battery even more ... some processes will just restart again after you have killed it.
On newer Android version (GB and ICS) I haven't found any task killers that actually prolonged my battery time.
Adjust your screen brightness as low as possible, use a dark backgrounds and themes, get rid of unnecessary Widgets and Live Screen backgrounds, Sync Mail, Calendar, Twitter only when needed ... and then you will be fine :good:

I'm still having huge battery issues no matter the ROM and kernel I use...
I have tried looking at battery apps that determine what's sucking up the battery but half the time it just says screen or WiFi. So it got me thinking, is it WiFi? I leave WiFi on, which was never and issue like a month ago or ever on my previous androids...but now all the sudden it seems to be the cause? I woke up to find my phone at 50% from 100 within 5 hours...of no use just WiFi turned on and set to only stay on when plugged in...so I could really use some help guys...

Simple solution - turn Wi-Fi off and see if it fixes the battery issue. Possible it is but to draw 50% that quick you'd have to be far away from the Wireless AP. In most cases that's very unlikely.

Wow, have never seen that on any device! Install Gsam or better battery stats if you are rooted to see what's going on. My best guess, it's a hardware issue.

That happened to me once or twice. These spikes are only visible on the battery graph in settings app. I use an alternative battery monitor app from Google play and it does not show any spikes. Also battery life seems pretty in line with what other people report. I simply ignore them since they do not seem to affect battery life.
Could it be caused by the wireless charging functionality being triggered by other electronic devices in house?
I saw the same problem in the G+ community there, but it's Gelexy Nexus which updated to Android 4.3 recently

Hey everyone,
My Nexus 7 (2013) is having the same problem with battery graph. There are about 2-3 spikes to 100% in every discharge cycle.
I noticed this problem has been reported in different cycles, but no one seems to be able to give a definite answer of what the source of this problem is.
BTW, after a reset to factory settings, the problem still persists.
