I hate HTC_IME. I hate it with a burning passion.
I'm cooking a rom for myself, and I want to replace it with the stock GB keyboard, or some other keyboard. However, if I delete the old HTC_IME and take the new GB keyboard and dump it into /system/app, I just get mass amounts of FCs. How can I get rid of HTC_IME, use another keyboard, and not have FCs?

Try renaming LatinIME.apk to HTC_IME.apk, and it might work. I'm not entirely sure though

Are you trying to replace it in the rom your building or directly on your phone?
http://db.tt/VHK2J0uL
Put that file in /system/lib and you should be good.

The ".so" file he provided goes in the "system/lib" folder, the ".apk" file goes in the system/app" folder.
Make sure your permissions for the ".apk" file are as shown in the attached pic:

It's already been kinda clarified, but you just put that file in /system/lib *in addition to* having your keyboard apk in /system/app, since you're building the rom from scratch.

Ehi guy.
Have someone tried this mod on a MCR 3.1?
Thank
Tried it for a few minutes, I really liked the app-drawer but not the Homescreen. Restoring now...
Why dont like?
And how you can restore the sense launcher?
Just by the phone?

Because if you put some widgets on it it becomes slow, not like LauncherPro. I don't have sense i'm on Froyo (Defrost 1.4). I restored with it with Rom-Manager.

Why?
Wouldn't be easier just uninstall it?
and I think this thread should be in Themes and App. Clearly it's not a ROM development
edit: sorry cTrox, i've just checked that zip file, my bad.
If i want test it on my custom rom based on sense, after how can i restore the sense?
do a nandroid backup (in recovery mode) before flashing this, and restore that very backup if you want to go back.
Works fine, and now we need the widgets
I have been running it for a day, but I get a fc in all the browsers, is anyone getting the same problem ?
Can someone post some more screens?
Seems pretty good, but I would rather just see some more screens than reinstalling my rom etc.

If you don't like it, it is very easy to remove. I like it. Takes a bit of organising to get it to look how you want it o.

Or just do a nandoroid backup before installing it =)
I actually get FC's in browser on certain websites. Thought it as rom-problem, but perhaps not.
Here is my homescreen ect running this launcher...

how did you manage it to put new icons into the "dock" at the bottom?
Edit:
found it
Menu -> Menu button -> edit
Why is it that people make themes. but don't include a proper Gmail icon in the notification bar for Sense Roms? I have been looking for a proper gmail icon in a theme for ages now that I can flash with Leedroid.
Isnt it b&w standard? Guess its just something people miss out. Might soom like too much effort decompiling, changing the icon and getting it resigned :/

Yup it is normally just black and white, but the purpose of a theme is to change what is stock. All other icons are changed in some way, whether it be colour or by design, the gmail icon however looks darn ugly and its the most popular notification icon we have - assuming you are using gmail which would make sense with an Android phone!
Do it yourself? I don't think you would even need to resign he apk or anything. Open .apk with WinRAR, extract the icon you need, edit, pop back. Push apk to device.

Is your Desire S-Off? If not, you will not be able to copy to /system/app.
If it is, you will need to mount R/W in Root Explorer before copying.
I just copied Gmail.apk from the Sky Statusbar and it seems to work great!
Glad you found something. Was trying to make one for you and my photoshop spazzed out and no longer starts
Fixed, edited someones theme, changed icons inc gmail and some others then zapped them into the APK via winrar, copied via SSH and BAM flashed!

DOWNLOAD:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=99DF9YHN
contains framework-res.apk, lge-res.apk, android.policy.jar, services.jar
INSTALL:
to install you just have to use adb to replace your current files with these ones (/system/framework/) then change the permissions to 644 (chmod 644 [location])
id suggest doing them one at a time and rebooting each time. start with lge-res, then services, then the other two. i know it takes longer but at least if something goes wrong youll know what file it is.
most of it is based off of this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952432. i changed some images and did a few other things to get it working with 2.2.2. ive tried it with LOL v1.4, lightv2, and nessy#c (it seems to be a little buggy on lightv2)
if you already have a power-menu you dont need to replace android.policy.jar as far as i know.
credit to the other XDA members as well (whos names i cant recall right now)

does android version 2.2.2 same as 2.2 ? or 2.2 is 2.2.2
it didn't work on Nessy#Fennice ROM ... i replaced files one by one and android.policy.jar file caused stuck on LG logo. also without using android.policy.jar after booting the phone multiple force closes occuered from programs such as clock, email and even shutdown!
does it work on void? love the theme
Doesn't work on V10H ROMs
Can anyone upload the stock APK file for Calls.apk for me? would be greatful if you do.
I can't find on my device the 'Calls.apk'.
Did you think of these apps?
- Dialer.apk
- SemcPhone.apk
You can find these apps in the attachment.
This will FC without proper framework!
You must make changes in framemork of your current rom to get these two work.
If you you use some custom rom

As far as the In call background, the picture is a thin line of a gradient. I will check what would happen if I replace that with a full sized picture.

*facepalm* .mtz files are for MIUI roms. And that is just a laucnher who is cloning MIUI.
Try the link for info on flashing Roboto fonts, I did running CM7.1.0.1 stable with S-OFF using one of the ZIPs there from HBOOT and it went fine first time.

Well, the launcher actually offers downloading of themes in .mtz format! So I thought maybe it offered a way of installing them, to a limited extent. Seems I thought wrong.

Maybe... and if not, then the downloading is just for show? That would be pretty stupid. Integrating a feature you can't use.
