Why is it that people make themes. but don't include a proper Gmail icon in the notification bar for Sense Roms? I have been looking for a proper gmail icon in a theme for ages now that I can flash with Leedroid.
Isnt it b&w standard? Guess its just something people miss out. Might soom like too much effort decompiling, changing the icon and getting it resigned :/

Yup it is normally just black and white, but the purpose of a theme is to change what is stock. All other icons are changed in some way, whether it be colour or by design, the gmail icon however looks darn ugly and its the most popular notification icon we have - assuming you are using gmail which would make sense with an Android phone!
Do it yourself? I don't think you would even need to resign he apk or anything. Open .apk with WinRAR, extract the icon you need, edit, pop back. Push apk to device.

I found the file using winrar but root explorer wont let me copy over the gmail.apk which has my new icon from Pays ROM in it.

Is your Desire S-Off? If not, you will not be able to copy to /system/app.
If it is, you will need to mount R/W in Root Explorer before copying.
I just copied Gmail.apk from the Sky Statusbar and it seems to work great!

Fixed, edited someones theme, changed icons inc gmail and some others then zapped them into the APK via winrar, copied via SSH and BAM flashed!

right-click --> rename --> change .zip to .theme

The file is found in manila editor, Common - TitleBarLevel0, File name
18c460d8_Manila.

Change the actual file name, you may need to turn on show file extensions on your windows PC, If you go into your control panel, classic view, and pick folder options, Select the view tab, Uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types. this will allow you to rename the file future.zip to future.theme, it's also handy for loads of things .

Works on the desire however you need to uninstall the other google news and weather app first (if you have that installed). Only problem is that the text is white and I have a white background...

sorry no adb setup for screenshotting, it only takes 2 secs to install, just make sure you uninstall the old one (if applic) first.

What's the best way to install this widget over the existing one? I've tried installing using estrongs file manager as mentioned earlier, but this won't work.
I'm using a 2.1 Rom with sense (pay87s ROM)
doesn't want to work (installed ok though) on OpenDesire 4.0.10 and up (an AOSP + Cyanogenmod ROM)

If you have time, would appreciate if you mod it to make the weather icon just sprightly bigger (like 2% bigger in size) when it shows next to the news flash. I mean when I put a widget and opt "News & Weather".

yes they run fine
Search for a lib folder somewhere inside the Android folder and all the subfolders.
Otherwise I'm not sure.

ok i copied the apk files to my sd card and installed them and the wallpapers work flawlessly.....

Toy have to use root explorer. Try "Super manager" from the market. There is other for sure, but I've tried this one and it works. Good luck!
Hi quick newbie question, how do you exactly access the sd\Android\root\system\lib? I searched the web thoroughly with no luck. I installed a root explorer app and granted permissions and still can`t find that subfolder. I have a rooted (Bell) Samsung Galaxy S stock 2.1. Thanks.

It will be in your system folder once your booted into Android.
Can anyone upload the stock APK file for Calls.apk for me? would be greatful if you do.

I'm not going to use the apk. I just need the graphics inside it. Maybe customize it and upload the png's to the Calls apk in the ROM.

As far as the In call background, the picture is a thin line of a gradient. I will check what would happen if I replace that with a full sized picture.

Sorry about that, but I couldn't find any possible way to decompress .qmg files to get the wallpaper files for you, just a boat wallpaper was the only one I found already extracted! But I (not sure) have two other possible solutions for you, either the .qmg files themselves and you do whatever you want with them, or the wallpaper selector apk itself so you choose whatever wallpaper you want to set? D:

Well that boat wallpaper is 1280x1280... So I dunno if you can extract then abs change dimensions or no.
EDIT: Try deodexing that .odex file (Google it) and play around maybe you'll find something good, if you don't really need the wallpapers (There's over million other great wallpaper over the Internet) just don't waste your time on it.
