Hi All,
I have this random problem with my SGS2. (Vodaphone)
It works fine most of the time, except sometimes when i switch off and back on again the phone part of the SGS will not start and i get no service. This can sometimes go for hours on end. What makes it worse is that if yu try and reset the radio by going into flight mode then out again it wont go out of flight mode.
It has also rebooted on e a few times recently for no apparent reason.
Any Suggestions?
Have you modified it in any way?
If the answer is "no", and it's still under warranty, take it back to the shop.

My Qtek 9100 will go to sleep and then the phone portion will not wake up. Happens especially when I am in a bad reception area but is not cured when I go back to a good reception area. Only solution is to reboot and it works fine. I did a hard reset and I am having the same problem so I do not believe it is due to any software I am using. I am using it with a Cingular SIM.
Any ideas?
Instead of soft resetting, try switching flight mode on, wait a few seconds and turn it off. Many folks have found this beats doing the soft reset. Inshallah they'll fix this with a ROM update.
I tried that and it does not seem to fix the problem reliably.
mine was doing the exact same thing. i found that if i went to start and then chose "phone" or by pressing the send button, I got my service back. I noticed this especially after using a program that closes all apps. when the "phone" app closed then no service.
My phone has been working fine for a few months now, after several flashes (cant pick a ROM ) anyway, a few days ago it started acting funny. It would freeze just doing normal everyday tasks, then it would just start working again like nothing happened after about 2 minutes. Now today, it freezes on my welcome splash (the one after the htc, the windows splash). and it just sits there. Sometimes, if I let it sit for about 10 minutes, it will start up-VERY SLOWLY, and if you go into any menus, it freezes. I tried to re-flash, but it wont establish an activesync connection. Is there anyway to get the phone to flash in my situation? Hopefully, I could flash it back to a cingular rom and send it in for warranty.
Did you tried to hard reset your Wizard by resetting while holding Comm Manager and Voice Command button?
Yeap, runs through the set up, gets to the screen where it says "customizing in 3...2...1" and shuts off.
Well, today, it completely died. Won't turn on, tried a new battery.....nothing. Do you think, since it won't turn on, I may be able to sneak it by Exchange By Mail???
Fixed it! For some reason, the first time I tried a new battery, it didn't work. Tried it again just for the hell of it, and it fixed it. Strange.....
A number of times, after doing a shutdown and restart, or a soft reset, the phone radio will not restart. It can't even be restarted by going to the Comm manager and trying to turn it on there. Bluetooth will start, as will WiFi, but not the phone.
I had the problem with the phone originally. Installed a program, did a restart, and no phone. Restarted a couple of times...even removed the program (assuming it had something to do with the program I'd installed). Did a Hard Reset, still no phone. Called tech support...not suggestions.
So I did an HPSL, and when the phone restarted (no new ROM yet), the phone radio restarted. Later, just turned off, and back on a minute or two later...the problem returned. So, I flashed a ROM from here. Radio started fine. Installed a couple of CABs (not the same as the first program), and when on required a restart...bam, problem returns.
And each time it restarts with the phone radio not working, it freezes a lot. When the phone radio is on, I don't have that problem.
Now here's the really weird part. If I leave the phone off for 15 minutes or so, then it seems it will restart fine. Is there something I'm missing? Is there a potential problem with the phone. I've just had it a couple of days, and if it's deffective, I want to return it before the 14 days are up.
Otherwise, I love the phone, but can anyone help or offer suggestions?
if it is happening across multiple roms, I'd say hardware fault, go for an exchange.
It should never have a problem with the radio restarting, or turning on. It's defective for sure.
From what I can tell, the radio rom on some HD2's are faulty. My problem isn't as bad as yours but still I'm getting this thing replaced. There should be no time ever in the middle of Manhattan that I have "G" instead of "3G".
So the phone I currently am dealing with was bought from someone else on eBay about 8 months ago, so I can't tell you the whole history of it, but I can tell you its problems before I dive into the download mode problem. So first of all this phone had been working fine until 3 months or so ago, and it randomly started overheating and turning off. When it turned back on, it would get stuck in a bootloop for a while and I'd leave it there to just turn back on. Ever since that happened, the phone only works for about 5-10 minutes before overheating and freezing before turning off. For a while I have been trying to get to the bottom of this, and so today I tried to boot it into download mode in order to flash a new stock rom on it, just in case the previous owner screwed with it at all, but when I got into download mode, the computer started creating a bunch of drives saying to format them. This makes me think the phone has some sort of software problem.
Thanks for the help!!
I've been having some problems with my Galaxy S5 recently after ~2 years and some change of owning it. I'm stock rooted on the original ANCG KitKat version.
The problem: If I power off my phone, it will cause it to go into a bootloop, not going past the first screen (Samsung Galaxy S5, powered by android). I haven't found a reliable way to fix it from the loop, but I usually just remove the battery, wait, and try again until somehow it just works and boots up. This is extremely problematic because sometimes my battery runs out and after charging I'll have to go through this game of chance again until my phone works.
The next problem also adds to this frustration as well. When I attempt to pick up a call, my phone will sometimes just not work and restart itself. This leads to lots of confusion and I can't call them back for some time because the phone is stuck in a bootloop.
In the few times that I do get my phone to actually boot up, everything works fine except sometimes my Wifi just doesn't work. It gets stuck on "turning on" where the notification drawer quick setting icon is dim green and never gets to the turned on full green state, eventually just turning itself off (no green color).
I haven't done a factory reset or any real troubleshooting yet, as I'm a bit worried I won't even be able to boot up the phone and I don't have the time yet to spend a full day fixing it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
The calling problem may be caused by the google dialer app not being set as the the default phone app but as for the other issues i have no idea a factory reset is a good start though
unfortunately I had the same problem but I have marshmallow but the factory reset helped with the not booting up and see a big difference with the battery
