Proxy for fire - Kindle Fire General

Has anyone been able to get through a proxy server yet, I currently have a tab and with droidproxy I can use my tab at work. My boss just got a fire and wants access and asked me to do it. I dont want to root it unless I know the app or something else will work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Any luck anyone

So just root it and find out. Really easy to do. If you don't like it, unroot it and be back where you started. There is even a video on how to do it step by step.

[Q] Google Books for UK Wifi

Hey guys, I'm aware there are a couple of Google Books threads already but this is specifically about the Wifi only UK version of the Xoom.
I cannot figure out how to get the tablet version of Books. The UK version doesn't come with Books installed so I sideloaded the mobile version in the hopes that I'd be able to fix it once installed but no...
Anyone have any ideas or could some kind soul in the US with root backup the tablet ver with Titanium or some such? Any help would be much appreciated.
No replies but would someonein the US be able to try this for your poor bookless Euro cousins please?

I'll second the request for some google books love for blighty!
http://db.tt/MQLhUxW and http://db.tt/NayfIHA
Download and put in system/app and reboot, hope it works, USE BOTH FILES! Pretty sure it won't work without the odex file.

As you are not in US, it won't activate it. I have a Xoom from US, it has Books installed but it doesn't work.
After you push it to you Xoom, you probably need to follow the how to get it to work outside US guide.
OK, I'll go search for that, I was just trying it out for burden010 and s.t.s lets see if we can crack this
I can get the mobile version of books (1.2.2) working (as in opening) on my uk wifi but not the xoom version provided above
I would try it also, but I don't see a point in it, as you can't buy any books outside US anyway and there is no way to sideload books into it.
Also I can't turn my Xoom off if I mess it up. If a do a power sycle I loose touch control. So unfortunately I can't help

Vizio smart tv....hackable?

I have been searching the web over to find anybody who has even attempted to mod e3d420vx vizio yahoo connect tv. Yahoos site only gives access via their app platform, no direct access. Im attempting to use it for something completely unrelated to tv watching and need to load some software, but nothing is popping up in google. Any help would be amazing. Thx

I think you barely could do it.
Possibly it will be high risk if you attempt to do it.
Barely?...
Has anybody else come across any info on this? I have access to wholesale units and I'm attempting a project that I need to load some simple software. Tearing it down is no issue.
If no one has, guess I'll attempt to figure it out. Thanks ahead of time.

Nexus 10: Control remotely over the internet?

Hello,
I got a Nexus 10 for my mom after her PC broke down. Since we are seperated by many kilometers and she has trouble to follow instruction how to fix / to do stuff on the phone I want some visual and input control.
Actually I need an app that allows me to control her tablet from long distance. I check Teamviewer Quicksupport but there you can only do screenshots, there is no full life control for the nexus 10 in Teamviewer as far as I have understood. Can anyone please recommend something? I wanted to ship the tablet on monday, so fast help is appreciated in advance.
btw. I dont care if I control the tablet from my windows pc or my nexus 4 android phone. I just need a solution. :/
Hmm, I can't seem to find an app for that either. Rare occasion I guess. What you could do is program Tasker to do a service like that for you... you'll need her tablet to be rooted. You'll need root no matter the solution.
If you don't know about Tasker it's a really nice app for developers/techy people to automate/add tweaks/features on your phone. This will be a really advanced implementation though. It's surely possible and it'd be easier for me to develop it for you than to explain it. You'll need your own web domain though. I mean one that you have for yourself, where you could place a php script.
Hopefully that helps or gives some insight at least, if you need my help I could develop that setup for you. You'll need to root her tablet yourself tho.

Say thanks if I was of help,

So there exists really no solution for that issue?
Have not tried it on a nexus 10 but I can fully remote control my note 3 using Teamviewer.

Root her Nexus and install a VNC server app. VNC Server by onecent in the Play Store worked for me (sorry can't link, too new). Then just use a client on either your phone or computer to connect. You will probably need to set up port forwarding on her router to connect remotely. Hopefully you're not too far since you'll likely have to visit her to get that and rooting done. Good luck.

Worked for me too.
Is there maybe another link? Keep in mind that I'm on 3.2.5. I even tried to side load it. I've emailed the devs and didn't get a response. I'm not a newb to Android, but Kindle is proprietary.
If somebody could tell me that they can download the file, either on a PC or on the Kindle, then I'll have to email the devs again. Any help would be much appreciated. I've had the Kindle for almost 3 weeks now. Again, I'm on 14.3.2.5.

Will Kindle updates break root? My last update was to 3.2.4 back in July. If I turn on wireless and let it update can I maybe run this again to regain root, or will it not be lost?

I would like to know that too. I'm on 3.2.5 though and not getting much feedback. I would rather not rollback. But I really want root. As I said, I do like the Fire OS. So just want to root it and play around with it for a while. It is better than my N10. But I need Google apps and to get rid of the proprietary stuff so I can do my tech stuff on the fly. I use my phone or laptop. They aren't always convenient. The Kindle seems perfect for what I do. 3 weeks I've had it and still no root. Amazon apps are usually older and they don't have a lot that I need
I have a 8.9 hdx and I just rooted and installed google play today. I am also on the same software version as you. I used towel root.

Did you make sure that you allowed apps from uknown sources in your device preferences? To date I've successfully used it on a Kindle 8.9 HDX and a Samsung Galaxy 3.
Yes. I didn't end up with root. Thanks
Meant did end up with root.
