My volume rocker switch isnt working properly. The up section works and feels correct but the bottom part is pressed and and despite it kind of giving a click it fails to function.
I went onto ebay and bought a replacement switch but I want to be sure the best way to replace it.
Anyone have any experience or tips for doing this please?
there are very detailed videos to take apart hd2 and repair in you tube. make a search
I used this video when I replaced the housing. Should help you, too!

I'm sceptical that I'll get a response, but here goes nothing!
I don't know how where or when, but I lost my volume control button.
Does anyone have a dead HD that can sell the volume up/down button?
Thanks for reading
can't help you but curious as to how you lost it?
Maybe a dummy phone of the HD can be found on eBay with hope that the part is a exact replica. I was holding the Diamond dummy phone and the buttons seemed like the real thing.
Do you mean the thing that part of the back cover? I think looking for the back cover itself could be cheaper .
Hi
It's not part of the back cover, it's actually the volume up/down button.
I tried the dummy phones, but they just have a moulding
I spoke to HTC and they will only repair if I send in ($$$) and the don't just sell the button.
I suspect it fell by being squeezed somehow and flicking out.
grrrr

oh no, it seems you're right after all. I checked my other backcover, and there it was. I didn't loose it at all, it's just that I never moved it to my new cover.
cheers man!!
LOL!
Why'd you get a new cover? Was it, by chance, an attempt to get rid of the creaking sounds every time you handled the phone or used the touch screen? Did it work?
nope, it was because I scratched it!
I had a crack at replacing the digitiser in my Tattoo and broke the volume control connection in the process. All else seems to be OK but alas, no display on boot up. Phone vibrates and makes noises but that's it.
So if anyone has a Tattoo good for parts or a link to parts supplier web site that would have what I want then Yippee! Let me know.
Also, any clues on replacing the volume control buttons?

When i disassemble my hd2 and then reassemble it does the whole housing have to be on it before it will power up? Because i recently purchased a LCD + Digitizer combo and watch the video on how to fix it and did. Now when i go to power on my HD2 without the back housing on it just vibrates and no screen turns on?! Can anyone tell me what maybe the problem =)
Important question yet you didn't feel the need to put a descriptive title for you topic?
Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can help, I recently returned to the HTC scene. Someone gave me a HD2 with a smashed screen Digitiser, everything else worked fine.
I got a new digitiser/LCD, fitted it ok. Now, back together, although there are a few really strange problems. There is no sound at all, either through the speaker or the ear piece, the vibrate doesn't happen and the volume button doesn't work.
Is any of this connected, I can't work it out.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers
Andy
All 3 mentioned are on main flexboard, therefore, IMO, you have a problem with main flexboard or its connection to motherboard: check carefully connector and related portion of flexboard.
Good luck!
Cheers pal, took it back apart and the main flex was slightly out!
I checked that as well, thanks anyway.
Glad you got back in business your hd2!:good:
Hi guys, first post. So heres the problem. My HD2 screen is not glued properly to the base of the phone and it has a little space between them at the bottom right corner ( next to the Power button), whenever i press the screen to close the gap the phone freezes, and i have to remove the batery. It is getting really annoying couse i cant even put the damn thing in my pocket without it freezing. The hardware keys dont even work i just have to restart it. So my question is does any1 know of this problem and can he/she offer a way out?
Sorry for my english. thanks in advance
Sounds like it been opened before & had not the best assembly.
Would imagine hardware button ribbon is torn or pulled out of socket hence no buttons.
freezing issue could be down to issue with digitizer ribbon or button ribbon or worse ?
Do you have any issues with screen touch & do you know full history of the handset.
If black Void sticker is missing from case screw near battery pins then you know it been opened & most repairs including so called specialists are poor from ones I've seen.
I know this is the last thing you want to hear but if it were my device I'd take it apart and redo the assembly myself. Theres plenty of how-to videos with detailed steps. Hope this helps.
