[Q] Deleting apps that failed to install. - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hello.
I was trying to install some .xap files on my WP7 and almost all crashes. Im using HD2O ROM. It's just that when the apps fail to install i get less and less place on my phone. Zune shows it as Reserved space I think. How can I delete these files from the phone?
I thinks it happens because when I try to deploy some app or game it take so long time.. I was deploying a game about 30mins and i have to tap the screen every 30s otherwise an error appears when the screen turns off. Then i just got pissed off and gave up after 30mins. But the files seems to remain on the phone.
Any ideas?

phone profiles 5.5 trial making screen flicker and xda reset

i have just been testing out phone profiles. no sooner had i started to play around with it my screen started to flicker and the system kept of reseting itself.
has anyone else had this problem? :?
does anyone have a copy of 3.1 trial instead?
Is it really due to Phone Profile? I've also installed Phone Profile 5.0 on my XDA II, just last week. These two days it kept restart by itself, anytime anywhere. I tried hard reset the device but the problem still persist. I've no choice but to sent it for servicing, can only get it back in another two days.
I have not had any major issues with the Phone Profiles 5.5 trial download, but I cannot seem to remove the Program through the normal channels. Neither Active Sync, item grayed out and can't uncheck it, or via PPC removal process-says it is running, but it is not or at least I can't stop it.
Any suggestions?
Ed
i remember seeing something in another post regarding a .dll file in the \windows folder which is run on boot. renaming this file and doing a soft reset prevented this from reoccuring.
maybe you will be able to stop the process long enough to disable it. there is a free program called phm task manager which may give you a chance to end the task and rename the .dll
First solution is the right one.
1- When you try to uninstall it, remember the locking file name
2- Rename this file
3- Soft-reset
4- uninstall
5- delete renamed file
Seems to be a really usefull and nice tool but too much bugs for me: 2 popups (with IA-Caller ID) on incoming call, problems when tried to use my own template, no group-ringing... Had to uninstall too. I think I'll buy it when debugged !

HTC Touch stuck in Windows folder

Pls need help urgently
My HTC Touch is stuck in the windows folder in file explorer , tried soft resetting and battery removal yet explorer starts in windows folder and am unable to use explorer, have no alternate explorer software either nor do i have any registry modification software. cant afford to lose data from hard resetting.
Please guys, this is an emergency
Thanks in advance...
Me too!!
My phone does the exact same thing. Ditto. It just hangs in the default explorer mode under windows....and I have to end it from the task manager. It was annoying in the begining but then I got resco explorer.....works a million times better than the stock file explorer, but the fact remains that I still have the same problems with it. I would recommend you install resco explorer and continue so tht it doesn't hamper your phones usage.
Inputs from anyone on this really appreciated.
It is very slow for me too. Do you still see the icon moving indicating that the device is working at opening the folder? If so, You just try to be patient and let it work itself out. If it is really getting stuck, try hooking up your device to your computer using activesinc and see if you can access the windows folder that way. If you have been saving things to the windows folder, then move them out of the windows folder into another folder so that there isn't anything else extra in the windows folder that doesn't need to be there. Do this through activesinc using your computer. Also, if you have other applications running in the background while trying to access the Window's folder, you will see a slow down in performance while it is trying to access the files in the folder.
The device just hangs entirely....I dont see anything on the screen. Just the busy icon...and I've tried giving it some time as well. Left it untouched for upto 15-20 mins at times. And still no go. Would it take longer than that? Besides when I try to end the program from the task manager, it shows the program not responding pop up as well indicating the application has hung. I can access the windows folder through activesync without any problems. Is this like a bug or a known issue or something like that? I used to think its only my device...alas....Im not alone!
Actually it is not stuck, frozen or hanged ... it just takes a loooooooooong time
That happened to me, use some other sw like GS Finder (freeware)

I havn't heard of any known bugs or issue with accessing Windows folder. For me it usually takes a couple of minutes minimum to open the Windows folder. All other folders open immediately. Maybe you should try a different app for viewing your files as already suggested. I really can't say what is causing your problems. Could be that you have an app installed that is causing conflict. I don't know how much better a different app would work for viewing your files; however, it may be worth a try in your case. It seems unnessarily long to open the windows folder. I have tried using different programs to access my windows folder and it still takes at least 2 minutes to open the folder to view the contents. I avoid it as much as possible.
also - Don't let your phone go to sleep when your device is trying to open the windows folder. I have found that once when I let my device go to sleep while working on opening the file that it did freeze and I needed to perform a soft reset.

This happens to me too. It just takes a long time loading all the files in windows, it's not stuck. But what an odd problem :S
hello
It's slow .. always has been .. always wil be ....
It's slow in the Diamond...
Touch HD ...
It slow as it has to read all the files on thre ROM .. yes it should be faster .. but the so should life !!
It works!
You know guys....all this time....I thought my device was being retarded and thats why file explorer would hang....but after reading what all of y'all had to say....I decided to give it one more shot...and I tried it...and left it on.......and after wht seemed like an eternity.....I was finally able to open the windows folder (ofcourse I had to wait approx 25 mins which I think is insane...coz no one in their right mind will ever wait that long to open a single folder). But it did work. And so I guess in conclusion, it doesn't hang....it really does take a s*** load of time to open. Now I dare not go into the windows directory using file explorer
Thanks you guys.

Try using one of the newer cooked ROMs, it should only take 10-20 seconds now.
guys, i also faced this problem several times , it takes loong looong time to load.. anybody has resco explorer ?
I had same issue but got fed up with it and reset my Touch and reloaded all software. it loads up windows folder much quicker now say 20 seconds compared to -well in the end it was not even opening it. I think its like windows - after time the registry gets clogged up and it just grinds to a halt. i am always trying out new software which never fully deletes.
HTC Touch stuck in Windows folder - solution!
I believe we have found out why the HTC Touch is stuck in the windows folder in file explorer. I inadvertently had the unit sort by "file type". When I did that, the problems began. As soon as I reset the sort to "name" - everything went back to normal (fast). I was ready to take the thing back when we noticed the difference in speed between his phone and my phone.
i used to have this problem with the original rom but it usually was about 2 miutes (not 25) but after CID unlock higher ipl/spl (3.07) and onx 4.2.1 rom it works fine
I had the same problem, and i solved it by overclocking the processor to 221 Mhz and left the file explorer do its work till it read all the files in windows folder then it was returned to normal... then i changed the directory (tapped on UP)... and voila... it's back to normal...
Just got the pro and my windows folder was working fine until i sorted by type accidentally (i have meat thumbs) and it just hung for awhile, so i shut the screen off and let it do its thing. Came back after searching the forums and seen an error "An Information Rights Management error has occured. If the problem persists, reboot your device or re-activate Information Rights Management by connecting to your PC" i had it plugged in before this and when i was done copying this to the device i just unplugged it the quick way rather than going to disconnect USB device in the taskbar. Hooked it back up to windows and released it through the taskbar, now it works fine in the windows folder. Dont know if this would solve ur problem but it may help figure out the problem.

15 mins to get up and running after soft reset :S

hey first thing i want to say is this phone is amazing and it blows away everything and anything i have had in the past (ok not my 360 though).
but in the last 2 weeks ive noticed whenever i perform a soft reset, mainly because of some program freezing, it takes an enormous time for the phone to recover functionality. i mean, that when i turn the phone on, i see the pink circle appear and then the t-mobile logo, after that the Launching HTC Sense shows and then it takes about 2 mins to completely show the home screen, i.e. clock tabs calender, notification bar and all.
thats all fine, but then when i try to scroll through the home screen tabs at the bottom it jitters and is extremely unresponsive moving after like 30 secs to 3 tabs. its the same with the start button, when i try to scroll down the apps its really slow and does the same jitters and when i select something it just does that 4 colour dots loading thing.
it happens every single time after a soft reset, however if i turn the phone on and leave it aside for around 15 mins then when i try to scroll through tabs or apps it works a treat, like nothing was wrong with it.
please can someone help me, i dont know if its some start up programs causing it or some registry tweak that needs to be applied to correct it. but any help is greatly appreciated and thank you
p.s. i have quite a few apps installed :s i installed resco explorer and through 1 of the apps 'system info', im going to post some of the numbers maybe it might shed some light.
program memory 336.9 MB - used 193.86 Mb (58%)
storage memory 214.7 MB - used 204.99 MB (95%)
storage card 1.8 GB - used 1.78 GB (97%)
here is a list of the things under \Windows\StartUp
BTTrayCE
DelWMPTempFolder
HTCStartUp
PKG
poutlook
RunGNAgent
XMmobiresetter
I suspect its down to having a shiny new toy and access to this "sweetshop" of a forum that's at the heart of the issue here. I too had similar problems earlier today when my storage memory dipped even lower than your's that resulted in pop up messages from windows warning me about critically low ammounts of storage and telling me to remove some installed or redundant files to improve performance..cue bye bye to co-pilot as I dont use it and things have improved considerably.Amongst the stuff I've installed are Tomtom navigator 7, Garmin mobile XT,Igo8.3.4,ACR hd,Totall commander,Resco file explorer, myplayer,Zoomer, skyfire,BsB Tweaks and a slack handfull of games...(all of them installed to the SD card which is now almost at capacity...roll on getting my 16gb card )
These two programs (RunGNAgent, XMmobiresetter) are not in my startup folder, so try to delete them (before deleting backup them), and see if that helps.
first of all thanks to terrytpot and Mikulec.
ill try to uninstall some apps and try an reduce the memory as much as i can and see if i notice an improvement. hopefully that'll work and ill also do the backup of the 2 files and delete them from the startup.
thanks again
P.S. if anyone has anymore ideas that would greatly appreciated. thank you
rungna.exe what is it, explained
well I did some experiments with this rungnagent.exe. witch apeared to be in my startup folder.
I installed sbp-safemode (just in case i would crash the phone (ps im having a samsung i-780).
then i moved the rungna.exe to my storragecard (away from any bootup options)
I shutted my phone down holding the on/off button and restarted it.
instead of waiting 2 minutes for the phone to startup I could scroll trough start, my homescreen and apps (really fast) within 20 seconds, wich was the startup-time when i got the phone .
I made sure that all my apps were still working and guess what they did not have any complications to any backgrounded or foregrounded apps.
I was starting to get very curious about what this app would be.
I loaded the program to my windows 7 desktop-pc and scanned it using filealyzer from savernetworking (the makers of spybot search and destroy).
the file seems to be a .net executable microsoft visual c# v.7.0 . net program with the following funtions in the hex-strings (the commands given to a program on how to funtion) and the behaviour is (in my case):
check the installed files from the program google navigator.
there's also in te hextext that it has to open google navigator trough a link in the windows folder named Google "Navigator.ink"
so when you deïnstall google navigator (in my case I did that because the software was crap). it can't load and run it's intergration with the system at startup and may hook your mobile phone down at that very same startup. the makers of the software just made a mistake in their deïnstall executable because it doesn't remove this specific file. (google navigator is not google maps google navigator is a 3d navigation program using google maps you can find their software on pdafun.net)
so when you deïnstalled the program just put the file somewhere on the phone (just in case) or at least remove it from your startup folder.
So this would mean: Problem solved thread closed XD
ps
my phone stoped freezing when i deleted this startup entry so for some reason it also hooked up the system when you opend more than 5 regular apps. having you to reset the phone all the time. those problems are gone now .
I would suggest that you install spb pocket plus buy it (or bittorent it XD). the software has many handy features with one in specific being very handy. the boot in safemode option.
when your phone crashes 2 times (so you stik your stilus in the resethole 2 times) it comes up with a special bootscreen giving you 2 options boot regular or boot in safe mode.
boot in safe mode means you startup your phone without loading any registry entries or boot commands. you just get a blank screen (no deskapps, tochflow, home shells, etc). with the regular startbutton and all programs and settings. meaning you can fix the phone when it crashed.
fixing means not having to do rom-resets (while worrying about contact backups, messages and all those apps you installed and have to reïnstall from scratch when hardresetting).
good luck with ya pocket personal computer XD.

ps: thread still closed XD

[Q] Corrupt Data.img? Any fix?

I had been booted into Android (CoreDroid v0.8SD) for about a month and generally all was well.
Few irritations when it seems to take an age to wake from standy screen (esp during calls) but generally all was fine.
Yesterday all of a sudden during a call I found the screen had gone white - and I don't mean the blank white it was like I was looking at everything through a layer of white. No amount of turning the screen on or off made any difference so I decided to reboot it.
On the restart after the Haret screen it stuck on the HTC page. I left it a good 10mins just in case but it was stuck so I had to do a battery pull.
When I restarted I got a message that Titanium Backup has stopped unexpected and have to force close. I get similar message when I try to launch facebook and some other apps. On the screen some of the widgets are replaced by a message "problem loading gadget"
Same thing happens (titanium stopped unexpected message; "problem loading gadget" message in the placeholder for some widgets.
I am guessing this means when I had to do that battery pull when it was stuck on the HTC screen the data.img got corrupted?
No solution other than deleting data.img and starting again from scratch?
Not bothered so much about the Angry Birds levels lost (my 6yr old may well be!) but main loss will be some of the SMS messages I have with details in them I want - no way to back these up (without Titanium)?
'sms backup and restore' is good, run it scheduled every day or more then restore is easy. but too late for that now next time eh?
i have had corrupted data file before but managed to get my mmssms.db (before i did proper backups) from data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/ inside the data.img file with ext2explore.exe developed by Manish Regmi. just copy your data.img into the same folder as the prog.
you will need to put the file back in again with something like ES file explorer or a terminal emulator on the phone.
maybe you can also find the angry birds saves
Thanks
Do I download and use this on my computer or directly install on my phone and if phone on Android or WinMo please?

Storage bug on Lumia 520

My mother phone was running out of space for a long time. She tried to install some stickers app from windows phone and obviously due to lack of storage it is stuck in the process.
From that point my troubles go on.
First of all I cannot enter into most of the apps on my phone. Only some simple setting app work.
For I can turn on and off wifi, set date to on and off and do the simple operation. I am litteraly out of space but everytime I delete facebook, messenger the phone restarts to old settings.
I have searched all over the internet and I cannot find the solution. There are lots of photos on this phone and I just want to save them. Unfortunately whilst my PC can see the device when I double open the windows phone there is nothing to show.
Please tell me if there is any trick to connect to file system by interop unlock of phone. Anything will do really.
Thanks

As I just want to save data would it help if I install android 7? Would android then recognize internal storage as partition that I could use with some recovery program?
Can I force installation of Windows phone 10 from PC? Is there any way to stopp the installation of the app from PC with some power tools or anything?
Please help.
Thanks
