Connecting camera via USB - file transfer - Acer Iconia A500

Hey guys. Recently bought an a500 which I love.
I tried plugging in my Fuji hs10 camera into full size USB to display some of pics I took. As soon as I did, gallery was launched and eventually it showed contents of 8gb mem card in camera.
I was wanting to copy from camera so fired up astro file manager but it said there was nothing to display (on external USB). Tried es file manager but no luck. Only way I was able to get any pic off was to use the import button present in gallerybut this only works picture at a time.
I tried mounting the USB in settings but no joy.
Can anyone recommend a way if getting multiple pics if my camera. It obviously is possible as the camera connects and files can be transfered via gallery (although its a time consuming process)

Try again,
Plug in camera and import using Gallery......When you hit the -Touch here to import- overlay on your thumbnails for the camera photos it will open to show all your photos on your camera. By default they are all selected, so you just have to hit the import button in the upper right corner. If you touch any of the individual photos it will deselect that photo. Or you can deselect all from the items selected drop down menu. You can find your imported photos in the sdcard/Imported folder

[Q] all my pictures are gone!

Hey guys,
Woke up this morning and all my camera taken pics are gone! They gallery opens up and there are folders listed with downloaded and sample photos, but no camera photos. Not even the "camera" folder was there. I just took a picture now and it created the camera folder and there is only the one picture in there that I just took. I had like 350-400 pics on there and poof they are gone.
Any ideas?
Anybody know the path on the SD card of where the pics are stored?
Thanks.
/sdcard/DCIM/Camera is where my pics are stored anyways.
I remember in my days with my Moment my gallery used to not always load the images. I would delete the directory /sdcard/Android/data/com.cooliris.media and then it would force the gallery to search the sdcard again to index all the pics. No idea if that's the approved process or if it works on the Epic (mainly cause I haven't had the issue), but it used to do the trick.
Search the market for Rescan Media. Useful tool to force a rescan for the gallery.
Un-mount and remount sd card should be ok
Sent from my SPH-D700
I can navigate the sd card anf the DCIM folder is ther, but empty. I unmounted and restarted the phone with a battery pull too, nothing. Ill try rescan media later. I just found out my lookout mobile app was also not set to back up pics

Browsing Camera Photos via USB

I can attach my digital camera to the Iconia via USB, but it's hard to do anything with the photos on the camera's SD card. Using an app like Astro to explore the camera's card, you can see very small thumbnails of the pictures but cannot really browse the photos.
You can click on a single photo and it will display, but it does not fill the screen. You can't browse through the photos. Instead, you have to return to the list of files and click on the next photo in the list, and repeat that process for each image you want to view, instead of scrolling through the files on the SD card.
Also, I haven't found a way to copy pictures off of the camera's card onto the Iconia for a better viewing experience or to clear space off the camera's card.
I'm running HC 3.1 and thought it would come with an app that enabled better use of the USB host mode.
Does anybody know of a better app to view photos on a camera's SD card when it's connected via USB?

Picture thumbnails not showing up in PC (only for edited photos)

So here's little annoying issue.
When i plug my N4 to PC and access Camera folder i see all the thumbnails of pictures taken with stock camera.
BUT
Thumbnails of edited pictures (edited with that stock N4 app that is accessed in the bottom left screen when previewing) are not showing up on PC!
I have to copy/paste them to my PC's desktop or any other location and thumbnails would be generated as soon as transfer is complete!
Anyone has any idea?

[Q] external sd media issue

I had some pictures on my external sd that I didn't want showing up in the gallery, so I created a "temp" folder with a .nomedia file in it, and moved those pictures into it. The gallery was working as expected, with just those pictures absent. I removed the sd card to plug into my laptop to transfer those pictures. After inserting the sd card back into the phone, my pictures don't show up in the gallery, and my music doesn't show up in the stock music player. But all the files are there when I look in es explorer. After thinking the .nomedia file was the problem, I deleted the "temp" folder previously created that had that file in it, but I still have the problem. I restarted the phone, but to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Try going to Settings > Applications > all applications > media storage and clearing data. Reboot and see if that solves the issue.

That actually made it WORSE (don't worry, I'm not blaming you). In any file manager (even stock), I can see that all my pictures exist where they've always been. Even the pictures from the camera. However, the gallery is COMPLETELY EMPTY. I can take new pictures, and they'll show up in the gallery. So everything before today (December 12, 2014) simply won't show up in the gallery. Wtf?
Restarting media worked for me with my image downloads to internal storage. IT WAS PISSING ME OFF. Works for now, pics that weren't showing in the gallery now do. Downloaded a few images and all have been showing. Considering the S5 was the first Samsung phone I've had since the Transform I was doing a bit of SMH when it came to this issue. Good phone so far besides that issue.

Fire 8HD problems downloading from laptop.

Completely computer illiterate oldie here so please be patient. Got tablet Black Friday. Following you tube managed to get Playstore using Toolbox V10. Trying now to copy photos and music albums from laptop. Keep getting different scenarios. Currently, when tablet connected to laptop, File Explorer shows C drive and D drive (DVD) plus "Fire". Clicking Fire, page opens saying "This folder is empty". Opening Fire shows Properties - General - Fire - Manufacture -Amazon, Firmware Version 1.0 and serial number. Nothing else. I somehow seemed to be managing some transfers Saturday/yesterday "Fire" had on occasions "internal storage"" option. but when I access photos vis the Amazon Photos app, not all have been transferred. Likewise when I open the Audify Music app I downloaded, only 5 albums appear.
Tablet has USB Transfer turned on. In Storage - Internal Storage, there are 21 music albums and 13 photo albums but I have no idea how to access them from there.
I don't know if this helps but micro SD card is Kingston 32gb class10.
Tearing out what little hair is left - had anyone any advice please?

You must have disabled USB debugging in developer settings.

Unfortunately I can't go back and see what I was doing at the time I posted but strangely enough I have just this minute finished downloading the music and photos I want. I found it very easy to move by going back to Windows Media Player (which I have ignored for such a long time) on my laptop and syncing to my tablet SD card from there using VLC and Galley apps. Definitely had USB debugging on this time. Thanks for your reply though.
