Best car dock for Nexus S - Nexus S General

So I've got the i9020A model of Nexus S and it looks like the car docks for this particular model do not come with the built-in charging port, unlike all the Captivate/Vibrant/Fascinate models.
So is there any compatible (as in the charging plug is in the middle, not on the side on top) car dock for Nexus S i9020A anyone can recommend? I just don't want to buy the dock I'd need to plug the power source directly into my phone with. I want to get a dock I can plug into the car power and then as I slide the phone into car dock I want it to be charging.
Thanks!

I have not seen one like that. The official Samsung dock works well but doesn't have the USB port built in. Their desktop dock does though........

I got the first one, Holder with Tilt Swivel Item No. 511227, since I don't mind plugging it in and it's cheaper. I already had the base because I had a similar dock for my HTC Hero. I rely on it heavily for navigation.
I has happy to have a mount immediately available when the Sprint Nexus S came out since the parts were already available for the GSM Nexus S. They are all the same exact shape.

I want a nice mounted one. Ie: No suction cup. I hate suction cups. After awhile it becomes a pain in the ass to put back on securely depending on the temp of the glass and the rubber. Last time I took mine off a few weeks ago to clean my windows it too 15 minutes to get it to stick right and not just fall off 2 minutes later.

[Q] Modifiy Nexus 10 For Qi Wireless Charging?

In short, could we slap a Qi-compliant coil in our Nexus 10, wire it to the battery, and win?
The coil itself is pretty thin from what I've seen, and there is a bit of room in-between the battery and back plastic (the people with creaky and buckling cases should know about this).
I don't know if there's an actual control board that is needed, but perhaps the coil could be hooked either directly to the battery, or even through USB (that way you can be notified of charging). If a control board is needed, then this might be a bit harder than expected, unless the board itself is pretty thin too.
It looks like someone's managed to do something similar to a Nexus 7 already and had good results (even enters docking mode): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070851
Edit: Instead of routing the coil to the USB or battery directly, we could even hook it to the Pogo pin area, like the person did for the N7 coil mod above.
I'm willing to give this a try, but may have to wait a few weeks till I can get the funds for a coil and for it to ship to me.

According to a-post-at-techchrunch-i-cant-link-to-cause-im-a-noob, the Nexus 10 has Qi already... is it wrong? I haven't opened my Nexus 10 to check
I have openned up my Nexus 10 and dont remember anything for wireless charging being there.
I saw someone mod the Galaxy nexus to enable this sort of thing and from what I remember you should be right Espionage, just as simply as you think. And yes there is room to do it.

I can find no reference to the device on the offical Qi website. This makes me highly skeptical that Qi is already present on the N10, perhaps they confused it with the N4?
Search for yourself if you'd like: http://www.wirelesspowerconsortium.com/products
As slow as the Nexus 10 already charges with it's stock USB cable... do you really WANT to charge it with Qi?
You might have to charge it for a week from 0% to get to 100%
Any further developments?
Hey Guys!
Is there any further developments on this possibility? :fingers-crossed:
Why not just use a pogo cable.... you would have to plug in a charging pad anyway.
Nexus 10 Wireless Charging Solution
I know it's been some time but I'm kind of surprized nobody posted a solution yet. I just had a Nexus 10 open and noticed not for the 1st time the pogo pins at the bottom that Google never even put to use. I can't even find an aftermarket docking station for it. We aren't talking about Apple here. Anyways the closest I've seen is a magnetic pogo pin charging adapter cable probably sold mostly to people who broke their USB ports. It seems nobody picked up on sewermike's comment. They DO have pogo pins and with a wireless coil (2-4 chained together) you could wire them to the + and - of the pogo pin cable easily. Also if you have access to old Nexus 2nd gen back covers you can get them there or on eBay cheap. It might be slow like TheAltruistic says but if you have a wireless device charging coffee table which I'm seeing more and more you can just set it on that. If I have time I'll do video or at least post my results.
ive got the pogo cable, if you can buy it do so - its well worth it, i think i paid £15 and i totally stand by it.
as for wireless charging, you can get wireless charging receiver cards that plug into the micro usb port, with this you can either plug it in and bend the cable around the tablet and hide it inside the case or plug it in and have it hang outside, you just rest the card on the charger.
please remember that is isnt a perfect solution as the card will get hot and overheat and stop charging or you'll spend all day charging the tablet.
i use to wirelessly charge the nexus 10 but id rather stick the pogo in

Location of the Qi Charging Point

Just came across this piece of information, and couldn't see that it had been posted anywhere else. It may help people who are having issues positioning the Nexus 6 on a Qi charger:
Nexus 6: 2.5 inches (64mm) from the bottom of the device so that the "u" in the "Nexus" logo is centred over the charger
(from https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/6073618?hl=en&ref_topic=3442692).

Yeah, that seems about right, of course, ifixit shows exactly where it is. I just picked up a Samsung GS4 Qi charger off ebay, you know, because it's an exact match size-wise, even has a curve to it, and am now trying to decide which one to pop open to reposition the coil or receiver (as they don't line up quite right, by about 1cm). I just can't decide! Not really sure which one will be harder to reposition, but I'd rather reposition the receiver in the N6 to better center it.
There are a multitude of chargers out there now. If you are like me and want to be able to just throw your device down and have it work, look for chargers with multiple coils. I have a desk dock that has three coils from top to bottom, so regardless of how I place it on there, it charges.

I have the Keedox Charging Stand - HERE is the Amazon Link.
I have 3 of these from Amazon, work great with my Nexus 6 and 7. 3d printed this dock to use with the puck from amazon and mount in my truck, desktop version there as well, works awesome.
That's cheating, I had to carve mine out of wood.
I made a wood stand for my old phone and the Nexus 6 fit on it no problem. I bought the PowerBot PB1020 (same as your link just with a removable charging cable), I then cut out a spot for it. It works but it doesn't look very pretty. I really need to make a new one with this in mind to start with, it's on my list of things to fix...

[Q] Better Safe than Sorry

I got a good deal on a refurbished Tegra Note 7 so I quickly snagged it as I wanted a tablet for media consumption, some browsing + gaming! Now I've read all the reviews and came across the infamous ultra flimsy micro-usb port. I'm hoping that the tablet was refurbished because of a faulty port and they put in an awesome one! Anyway, do you guys have any suggestions for me so that I don't break the port like using a particular charger, any specific way to charge it(Wireless Charging without any soldering or other method that requires skills with tools?) or anything, really. Also, in case it does break, I'm guessing inevitably it will, has anyone found a convenient way except sending it to the respective manufacturers?
I just recently got a used one off eBay. The cord that came with it was a very tight fit and I could see how that would eventually break the port. Fortunately my samsung cord slips on the port very easily. And since it's white I marked the top of the cord with black magic marker so I never put it in wrong. So far it's working out great.
There's not much else to do but be extremely careful or go buy a Micro USB Type A cable. The whole problem with the port is that they used the wrong one.
http://www.yogaretnam.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/micro_usb_type_a_b.jpg
I never even knew there were two types of Micro USB connectors until I got this thing. I never bothered to get the right cable (and Nvidia didn't bother including the right one... did they even know there were two types?), and thanks to a minor fall while plugged in, I have to plug my cable in slightly crooked to get it to charge right. If I plug it straight in, it will show it's charging but actually drain the battery even if the stupid thing is off!

Charging port failing?

OK guys, I've waited a while to finally post this but I'm about to toss this device.
So for the past few months USB charging cables no longer stick into the charging port. When you first get the device you could practically flail the phone around by the USB cord. However, now they are so lose I have to tape the cord to the phone to maybe get it just right and charge. The USB slot is looser than a two dollar whore now.
It first started with the factory charger (which died) and never got a replacement (thanks moto)! So got another 3rd party charger and that cable was better but still not tight. Now no cable will stick and is a sloppy mess.
I'm assuming this is going to require a RMA and replacement? Would this even be covered, and considering the RMA for my stock charger months later resulted in no new charger it's worrying too attempt a phone RMA. Let alone the short lifespan of the port. I only plug in ever 1-2 days by the way.
Anyone else having this issue and if so what did you do?

Out of all of my devices, I've only had one port fail, on a tablet, that I believe someone sat on while it was plugged in. But, on all of my devices, I plug them in and leave the device alone. Are you tossing your device around while it's plugged in, or sleeping next to it while it's plugged it? I know parts fail, but the stock charger clips in snugly on my moto daily, and on my tablet every 3rd day, and I have zero issues. Even my cheap cables and car charger plugs snugly. Maybe you just got a faulty part.

Take a look at the two spring loaded prongs on your cable. Are they still pointy and extended? Usually when this happens I notice my prongs have noticeable wear on them

No, I don't use my phone and cable as a mace or as a personal defense weapon when I play superhero on the weekend However it does have it's home on the nightstand next to the bed with one of my tablets. I haven't dropped or sat on the device whilst plugged in, I have done this with previous phones where it bends the metal on the USB cable but even then hasn't caused a loose port on those devices.
One of the cables indeed has worn down prongs to my surprise for being new, so I looked through my drawers of cables and found one with nice shiney new prongs. This does make locking in place more efficient in my case but not like it was new. You can still fairly easily loose connection moving the device around while plugged in but not instant disconnect from gravity like the stock charger or the other cables.
I would check the charging port for lint. This can cause a cable not to stay in. Simply take a piece of tape and roll it back onto itself with the sticky side out making sure it's the right side to fit in the port. I've done this with several devices and it makes a big difference.

Varmint or car holder for note 10+

What car mount you guys are using for your Note 10+ ?
Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
KENU. I have 1 for each car I like it so much.

Same one I always use on all my phones for last 5 years or more... 2 strips of velcro.. laugh but it's the best car mount you can use. Vent clips suck and never stay on. Same for suction. All the adjustable mounts end up pushing buttons. I slap my phone under my car stereo and that's where it stays. Still works with wireless charger and while in car no stupid clamps get in way of using phone. Magnets are probably better option for all phones but the note.
I use a DesertWest Wireless Charger. It charges my phone wirelessly while the screen is on while I drive. On Amazon UK, there are two different ones. The one I have is the one that lists the S10+ in the compatability, but definitely works with the Note10+ too
