Just came across this piece of information, and couldn't see that it had been posted anywhere else. It may help people who are having issues positioning the Nexus 6 on a Qi charger:
Nexus 6: 2.5 inches (64mm) from the bottom of the device so that the "u" in the "Nexus" logo is centred over the charger
(from https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/6073618?hl=en&ref_topic=3442692).

Yeah, that seems about right, of course, ifixit shows exactly where it is. I just picked up a Samsung GS4 Qi charger off ebay, you know, because it's an exact match size-wise, even has a curve to it, and am now trying to decide which one to pop open to reposition the coil or receiver (as they don't line up quite right, by about 1cm). I just can't decide! Not really sure which one will be harder to reposition, but I'd rather reposition the receiver in the N6 to better center it.
There are a multitude of chargers out there now. If you are like me and want to be able to just throw your device down and have it work, look for chargers with multiple coils. I have a desk dock that has three coils from top to bottom, so regardless of how I place it on there, it charges.

I have the Keedox Charging Stand - HERE is the Amazon Link.
I have 3 of these from Amazon, work great with my Nexus 6 and 7. 3d printed this dock to use with the puck from amazon and mount in my truck, desktop version there as well, works awesome.
That's cheating, I had to carve mine out of wood.
I made a wood stand for my old phone and the Nexus 6 fit on it no problem. I bought the PowerBot PB1020 (same as your link just with a removable charging cable), I then cut out a spot for it. It works but it doesn't look very pretty. I really need to make a new one with this in mind to start with, it's on my list of things to fix...

Has anyone seen any docking stations rumored?
I am looking for something that I can drop it in/on and it will go into clock (dock) mode.
Thx!
Just get a normal stand and a charger and an NFC sticker and use Automate It (I think that's the name) to tell it to enter dock mode.

You know the Nexus 7 was supposed to have a dock, it was leaked and everything. We still don't have it.
The answer is probably. Eventually. Some day. Google is HORRIBLE with accessory support, it takes them much longer than it should to release their products.
sadly seems that the N4 doesn't have POGO pins, I love them and they are on the N7 N10 and GNex, I don't understand why google removed them from the N4!
Interesting on the automate - it idea.
I love the POGO pins on our n1's, so easy to pop on the cradle and done. We have 3 cradles.
Google really handled the accessories with the N1 well, maybe after that one they weren't as good, I didn't follow the other devices.
I can't figure out why more devices don't use POGO's... Especially the high end ones like this...

Well, as far as POGO for charging... this one has QI, so there's no need for the pins, just drop it on a compatible pad and it's charging. Anything else could be handled with NFC recognition and bluetooth data exchange.
Right, as long as we can get it to go into doc moed automatically and it sites on a decent angle to be viewed from the side it will suffice.
So far I have not found any.

I hope this will be true, but it's still a lot more complex than the pogo pin solution. Lack of pogo pins is the deal-breaker for me on any upgrade to the N4. If Google does release a dock with all the functionality of the GN docks via Qi, NFC, and Bluetooth that works seamlessly and holds the phone at a good angle for clock mode, they will probably get me to upgrade. Fingers crossed...

So I read that this device has wireless charging but I can't find an instance of the problem I'm having. Is there something special you have to enable to get it to charge with a qi pad? Neither the nexus orb nor my og lg pad will charge it. I thought the protective plastic might have caused this but even after peeling it back I don't get a charging indicator. Seems my nexus luck follows me wherever. I got one with a nice display and no physical defects seemingly on the first try. Am I doing something wrong here?

Mine charged wirelessly right away, there was nothing I had to manually enable. I tried it on 2 different LG WCP-700 Qi chargers.
Mine had the same issue, and it was the connectors for the coil on the inside. if you feel like opening the case you can try to clean them. that worked for me or just exchange the unit.

I would check the back and see if it feels like you have space. in the case.

Can you tell us what tools you used to open the device? I'm guessing suction cups, perhaps from iFixIt? Or did you go the spudger route?
As for cleaning the coils, are you referring to the 2 or 4 gold pressure contacts that are present on the back of the casing once the device is opened/separated?
Not to sound like a ****, OP, but a little searching would have shown you this thread, about the same issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2379718
I used a thin guitar pick and started at the bottom of the Screen next to the USB charging port and slowly opened it to the left side of the screen, ( the Side that does not have any buttons) and slowly went up the screen to the top and keep going till I was able to separate the the device from the back unit. But I caution you to be careful as you can easily break the case as IFixit mentions in.
the 4 connector are the ones, that I am referring to, mine device looked like they were not clean. I cleaned them up and after putting together again the wireless charging works.
hope this helps

Yes same problem with mine. Qi Charging did not work and neither did the NFC, although it did on the first day. Opened it up and cleaned off the gunk off the four contacts and Qi and NFC started working again.
Thanks for the advice... Everywhere was sold out near me. After a 55 mile drive to best buy I exchanged it... Way better than waiting on play store agony. This replacement seems better. Screen so far is the same nice quality and everything actually works. Wireless charging is fine. Good to know that this is easy to take apart. My problem though with opening the device is that I tend to get creaks etc afterward. I did search prior BTW... I guess I didn't look hard enough

I wonder about those units where people have not tried Qi Charging or NFC and how rampant a problem this is.
I bought the CFR-100 Quick Circle Case with the QI coil, and was planning to rip it out but the case is actually quite nice so I'm using it as is - but be warned. The power requirements of the G4 seems to cause issues with existing QI pads (but I would hope not the official LG one) - I have tried it on a Maxell Dual coil pad, and it didn't work at all (the light just blinked and nothing happened on the phone), and on my Panasonic QE-TM101 moving coil pad it didn't work either, until I took off the clear plastic shield that comes with the pad, and even then to get it to work it is touchy and requires me to press down hard on the phone/pad for a few seconds to get the charging going....so it sort-of works with the Panasonic QE-TM101.
Edit: a friend has a white version of the QE-TM101 (mine is black) and it works all the time, no issues - but on mine, the issues are as above....it still doesn't work at all on the Maxell dual coil pad.
Edit 2: It may be variations in the quick cover case because it is all VERY touchy.....I took apart my black QE-TM101 and lengthened the spring that pushes up the coil, I also poured boiling water over the top cover to try to warp it inwards - and this has now made it work better, not 100% but 9 out of 10 times it will charge now without me pressing down on it.
Now that's weird...
I seriously cannot understand how LG decided to drop proper Qi support. And now, if it's going to have problems with even additional accessories, it's worse.
I'm using Nokia-101 which works flawless on my G3 even with a hard plastic case. Wondering if it supports Quick Circle considering it's one of the first (if not the) Qi chargers.
I have the Tylt Vu (http://www.tylt.com/vu/) which I had been using for my Nexus 5.
It's just not working with the G4 official Quick Circle case
It's weird because the G3 is listed as compatible. I'll try again later today but I'm not expecting anything.
I have ripped the official sticker out of the circle case and stuck it into my brown leather back and it charges great on both the official qi charger and this rather cheap one Qi Charger maybe you have a faulty one?
Hm...

More power
I bought the quick circle case and was also having problems getting it to charge. I have a dual device Energizer pad and a cheap eBay pad. Neither was working with the quick circle case. Tonight I tried plugging the eBay pad into my 2A USB charger and it started charging. If you are having problems, try a higher power source for the charging pad. The Energizer pad still doesn't work, it has a non-USB plug power source.

QI stickers burning internal chip ...?
Hello,
Reading through XDA forum, I got the understanding that QI stickers (at least some of them) are not working very long. Some experienced troubles, despite changing sticker / pad to different brand/model.
Is there any really positive experience on long term?
And if yes, please share what sticker and charging pad you use
I have some cheap off-brand wireless charging pad+sticker, and it works, but it charges so slowly it's hardly worth using, and the position has to be just right.

This thread has some great info on the stickers and chargers various people are using and the experiences they've had. My post from the thread is below. I'm still using the same sticker and charger daily, and I've had absolutely no issues. A good quality sticker and 3 coil charger go a long way towards minimizing issues.

I installed the upgraded NeWisdom sticker a couple weeks ago, and I've been charging wirelessly each night since then. I have yet to experience any lockups. It does get hotter and charge slower than my previous phones that used OEM wireless charging backs (Galaxy S5, Note 4) or came with wireless charging built-in (Droid Turbo) when using the same wireless charger.

There is another thread around here with more information (Qi Charging Woes). Mine magically just got better. No more lockups at night, or anything. Maybe LG was pulling data at night and found it was causing lockups and tweaked the backup scripts. Lol. Kinda weird it went from 3-4 nights a week to none at all.

I have to believe it is something like the Tylt Vu. It has three coils and is quite tall.

very interesting... Still really risky, you will have to void the warranty to do this and if you don't shield the heat or if the wire touches something wrong it could brick. Just be careful guys. Zsnaps is a safer alternative that makes charging simple. Wish they would ship already

Why can't someone make a bumper case for the 5X that incorporates a Qi charging coil and plugs into the USB socket? I think there are auxiliary batteries for some phones like that. That would work for me.

Agreed. And (surprising to me) not everyone likes wireless charging. I hope the intersection of the two (and the 5x community) is big enough to warrant market attention.
I asked the poster ,xCubicle....
What's the large light grey patch on the inside of the back cover?
It can be seen in the ifixit teardown images at step 4.
Got the response...
"useless sticker. peeled it off."
I couldn't help but think back to the AMA
specifically the part "...Meanwhile, wireless charging adds z (thickness)..."
So what's the deal here with the blatant capability of qi wireless being designed into the rear case but the spec being deleted...?
It's because they did not want to give qi to the 5x and leave it out of the 6p because it has an aluminum body.

I'm pretty sure you hit the nail on the head here.
It wouldn't have been as bad if they'd just said that, but the bull****ting about thickness as an excuse is not cool.
after further testing with the mod. i am indeed able to charge wirelessly up to 100% from 0%. i measured the wireless charging current and it seems to range from 100-500ma charge rate. a typical charger ranges from 1000-2500ma charge rate.
regardless, its a working mod so far.
i need to refine the wiring to layout to make it a bit more appealing before i offer it as a modding service.
Awesome news. Looking forward to potentially doing this mod myself!

What will happen if wireless charging and USB Charging together?
Not even sure what happens now
To answer my own question form my last post. "Even the more expensive Qi modules appear to charge slower than the factory built in modules". Not sure what the reason for would be? Or people do not realize they are buying lower powered (yet more expensive) modules. Most posts I have seen refer to 500mAh modules

Not sure if you bought one yet, but I've had mine for a few days and I can tell you the wireless chargers that will work well with this will be a select few. It seems the coil in the PRIV is near the very bottom of the back, so chargers like the spigen listed above (Which I have and use with my Nexus 7 LTE) don't work well at all. It continuously connects and disconnects because the coil is so low on the PRIV that it doesn't line up well. I also have the most recent Samsung QI charger that I got for my Note 5, and that one actually works pretty well because you can set the PRIV on it towards the very bottom of the device. Another example is trying to us the Nexus QI charging orb, which the PRIV won't work well with because putting it on there so close to the bottom causes the device to fall over the top because it's top heavy. So long story short a pad or flat surface charger will most likely be best as it allows you to position the device properly. Hopefully this helps!
PS: This is the best device I've had in a long time, and I've owned most current and past flagships. Reminds me of my days on webOS with my Palm Pres...but a million times better!

Yes it does wort of work. The problem is that the coil is so low on the Priv that it falls of when trying to put it on there horizontal. Same with the Nexus orb. It's kind of annoying. One solution with the spigen is to put something under the priv when it's on there horizontal so it meets up with the higher coil as the spigen has three coils.

Do you know if the main difference is the "fast charging" and if Priv might benefit from the below charger vs yours?
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Fast-...8755&sr=1-9&keywords=samsung+wireless+charger
As far as I know the PRIV is not compatible with Fast Wireless Charging, but I'm not sure. The issue is simply the placement of the PRIV's wireless coil in the back of the phone. It's nearly at the very bottom of the phone so it doesn't align well with some wireless chargers. Most phones have the coil in the middle of the back.

1) http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Miko...636&sr=8-5&keywords=vertical+wireless+charger
2) http://www.amazon.com/Aukey-Wireles...636&sr=8-6&keywords=vertical+wireless+charger
I think I would get the first one....
Anyone tried the Samsung wireless charger? I was trying with the Samsung wireless charger for S6 but it doesn't work...
Just found out my device is STV100-3 which doesn't support wireless charging.... Darn darn darn..... Ahhhhhhhhh
It should work with any QI wireless charger, assuming you have a model with wireless charging built in.
UPDATE: Contrary to my previous posts...the spigen charger referenced in this thread DOES work with the PRIV. I tried it again last night with a different cable and charger and it does work perfectly. It must have been an issue with the cable and charger I was using with it previously not providing enough voltage or something. Sorry for the incorrect information.
Also, I can confirm it does work with the Samsung chargers, but the PRIV's coil is at the very bottom so you have to line up the very bottom of the phone onto the charger. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the update!
Moko Standup Charger
My priv has the official blackberry leather flip case, and I'm only interested in chargers that work with the phone in the case.
I just got the Moko stand up Qi charger a few days ago and it does NOT work reliably with the Priv in a case. It seems to work some of the time, but the night before last it charged to 60% and stopped. It's pretty easy to reproduce this behavior since it's never charged to 100%. One strange thing is that even when it only charged to 60%, it's pretty warm between the Priv and the stand. I know lipo lifetime is accelerated with heat, so I don't think using this, even if charges to 60% is a great idea..
I have a cheap square samsung charger that seems to work better, but you have to find the sweet spot.
I'm still looking for one that is 100%. Eventually, I want two, one for my desk and one for my car (air vent) but I'm definitely not going to try the Moko car version.
EDIT: I made shim (out of cardboard for now) to raise the phone up in the Moko dock by 1/2 inch. It charged to 100% for the first time! The phone is still pretty warm (about 94 degrees F) but that might be the way all of the Qi chargers work.

After I got my Priv, I am leaning towards this one, but have yet to decide:

Just about to get my Priv (FINALLY!), buying stuffs to armor it up - quick chargers, cases etc..
So here is the question: as there is no official wireless charger for Priv, which 3rd-party wireless charger available is best for it?

This Meenova wireless charging dock is another choice -- adjustable, drop & charge.

Why BB want to have two versions? One with wireless and one w/o.........
US users are more privileged, while others over the other half of the world are not as privileged? :crying:
