Anyone else have a squeaking battery door? On mine its right below the volume rocker on the edge, when I press on it, it goes in a little and squeaks. I feel like it's the shape of the door that doesnt let it sit completely flush. Not a big deal but kind of annoying
Mine also squeaks...but I don't have that problem anymore after I replace it with the flip cover case.
After making sure all the notches are snapped in, my cover is completely solid. It sort of becomes one with the phone, actually.
I have seen that allot with Samsung phones. I have an Infuse and the same thing, creaky flimsy back cover. You press in certain areas and it gives and creaks. Just crap flimsy design IMHO.
Yeah I too have the creaking near the volume keys, even after double-checking back cover snapped on properly. Seems like a unfortunate side effect of not being delicate enough when yanking off the battery cover.
Didn't have this issue with the SGS2, but then again the cover isn't as big, which meant I didn't flex it as much when opening the phone up.
Ordered a OEM replacement back cover from eBay to fix the prob as bit annoyed by the creaking feeling.
Maybe when someone releases a metal backcover we won't have to worry about this ever again (although the phone would be a lot heavier!)
Can't you just put some plastic tapes on the inner back cover where the squeaking happens? I think it's nothing to worry about, it happened to nearly all phones I've ever owned
Although I would want the stylus holder to have a bit more firm snap

I saw a lot of owners complaining about creaking case...some on the USB part and some near the vol control ?
How about yours ?

Yes mine creaks too. I don't like it, my Trintiy never creaked. On my HD it is the back cover that moans when I squeeze it to make a thumb tap one handed. I thought it was partially my fault for removing the cover so many times to take out the micro SD. The back cover definitely comes off MUCH easier than the first time I opened it out of the box. I've seen new covers for $29. but that seems a bit over the top for a creak I'm going to make a space buffer under the back cover.
Same as matterhorn, the backside, below the camera lens. It creaks and its terrible! Feels cheap.
A simple solution for that creaking
Yep, I too hate the creaking of the plastic cover. It feels like the phone is really cheapish. I could not bear it, so that I tried several solutions (thin foam pads, self-adhesive tapes of different kinds) before coming up with a really good, simple one: I cut some PostIts to the right size (avoiding to cover the holes for those little tabs in the cover that hold it in place), stuck them to the bare sides of the HD (this is, the HD without the cover), and bent them over the back (where the battery and the SIM card are); then, you just have to mount the cover as usual --the photos are almost self-explanatory.
If you do not like the result, removal is dead simple. In my case, the added thickness of two PostIts inside the cover prevents *most* of the creaking (not *all*, but most), and now the HD feels much like the solid device it should have been from the beginning. This solution is really simple and easy indeed, but after a couple of weeks it has proved to be very reliable. Hope this helps! It has done for me.
A simple solution for that creaking
Repeated submit, sorry.
After opening the back cover a few times to get at the battery, the case on the bottom left where the chin starts, if you push on it it now creeks which is very annoying given that is where you hold it with your thumb most of the time - has anyone else come across this? think i may have to wedge some paper in there to stop it.. its like chinese water torture!!
My first Hero was bad for this but this (4th) one doesn't creak at all. An old Sony Ericcson phone I had had the problem too but I solved it using the method you suggest in your opening post. Get the scissors and tape out!
I am having a similar issue. My back cover is creeking just behind the volume rocker on the left side of the phone. (HTC branded Hero - White)
My G1 had a creeking issue also. Went through six of them before I finally got one that didn't creek.
Mine didn't creak initially, after a few days of being in the pocket it now does. Shame really, but not the end of the world.
Easy solution to this.
Take off your back cover and have a look for the little plastic tabs that slot into place when you attach the cover. Get a dab of oil, engine oil or olive oil or something and rub it between your fingers. Then give the plastic tabs a light rub between your fingers; just enough to impart a thin layer of oil to them.
Replace your cover.
Problem solved. If this doesn't work, you may need to just rub around the edge of the cover wherever the noise is coming from.
I did something very similar and used some Krytox grease around the edge of the back cover. Squeak free now.
Anyone else noticing how bad the plastic battery cover is on this phone? Everytime i hold it creaks. Doesnt make it feel like a quality device. Anyone else in the same boat of do i have a crappy back cover?
Not creaky here...nice tight fit
Mine fits great as well. No issues.
Ive taken the back cover off at least 20 times since the 8th. My phone feels solid, no creaky feel what so ever.
Same as with everyone else, my phone feels and sounds solid. No creaks here.
only if I really try to make it creak.

maybe you cover is not snapped on all the way??
mine is also fine..
Yea i think that im going to get another battery cover. Mine is creaky towards the bottom left. Almost like its not snapping together correctly. The main reason i returned the HTC Surround was for the creaky battery cover. It gave me nightmares because i dealt with a G1 for 2 years with that problem.
never had a creak but i would suggest getting a tight fit cover for the phone. Mine is red and black and the brand is case mate...awesome cover to protect my sweet ass phone!
I've noticed I get some creak in the top left corner above the camera, nothing major though since I never hold the phone by that corner.
I would say it's a faulty cover (return/exchange the phone) or it hasn't seated or snapped into place properly even though it looks like it's in place.
It is plastic and makes the phone super light weight.
I returned mine and got one back in which the cover is perfect.
Also, the screen is a bit brighter (same settings) and the audio sounds a bit better. I also ordered a screen protector and case (smoke plastic) which works great.
The phone is very impressive now.
Hi.
I love my Mini I own it for about a mouth.
My problem is the back cover that doesn't feel "solid", when I hold it on the hand and press the screen I feel the cover "creak" and flex.
Is this normal?
I don't remember feeling this at the beginning.
Thanks in advance
Everyone's back cover don't bend/flex a little when pressing the screen normally?
Only me?
My back cover is loose also and it can be removed very easily (we are not alone - see this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687326).
It seems that there are two versions of the cover because some people seem to have problems removing the back cover (see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=674089).
My Mini makes some "crack" sounds too when I press the screen. But this is normal But indeed it is irritating sometimes
That's normal. I had my first unit with snug fit cover. Unfortunately, this unit is defective. So i had it replaced. Second unit has loose cover. With the creeking sound and all those stuff described above. But it works fine. Doesn't accidentally break open.
Now, after 3 months of use, the cover seems to be tighter now. Don't know why. Shrinking cover? Don't know.
First thanks for your sharing your experiences.
This is indeed one irritating thing, it doesn't feel safe and even I didn't open the back cover to many times.
bart3385 experience of a tighter cover after 3 months is strange, maybe you get used to it .
Nevertheless I hope the same happens to me.
Its a shame that this kind of design fault affect the user experience of a such nice device.
Perhaps their would be a one later.
Yep same here, back cover does sometimes make a little bit cracking noise when pushing the screen. Besides that i also have a narrow gap between the glass of the screen and the housing of the phone, but thats also nothing new for this phone .
Same here.. sometimes I get the feeling that my phone isn't safe within its back cover.
btw, the inferior edge of my screen display stands a bit beyond the back cover, kinda protrudes (specially in the lower part of the display glass, next to the 5 capacitive buttons on the bottom). Is it just me or the same happens with u guys!?
Like I said nice phone but sometimes it just seems strange :-|

It's possible the adhesives to the glass is a bit loose.
Try this. Remove back cover. Then press the glass edges to the phone body firmly. Then reinstall the cover. This should eliminate the protrusion.

Yes.. guess this was the problem.
I did it and it really corrected the protrusion, but it got back in a minute
What can I do to solve this!? Its really related to the adhesives. I can see them under the glass (kind of a glue).
cya.
Yes if you are facing the screen toward you in your right hand it will do that. For some reason the left side seems to be a little loose. If you hold in your left hand it is not that noticable. I fixed mine with a torche and patience.
Popone
You used a torch? That's too risky.
I noticed my G3 creaked a lot when gripping it a certain way. I figured a little creaking is normal (coming from unibody HTC One m7). Checked my girlfriends g3 and it had no creaking whatsoever. Based on information from a different forum, i placed a folded up piece of paper between the battery and the battery door. This literally eliminated all creaking. I was concerned with the safety of this method so i removed it. After this i was playing with the battery cover and was able to bend it in ( so it's tight with the battery) and have virtually made it creak free!
Hope this helps anybody else whos OCD was nagging at them [emoji14]
UPDATE: Basically its caused by the battery being loose. Some batteries fit tighter than others. This can explain why some people have no creaking at all and others do.
I'll give it a try.. The phone creaking was starting to irritate me
Mine was rubbing against the volume/power button area when i pressed the area making an annoying creak sound. I sanded the inside lip of the back cover just a little bit with a small piece of nail file.
Please tell me this is not true!
The G2 back cover also creaked and I hated it!
I think the cause is that the battery is a little bit loose and when the phone is flexed the battery will rub. The only solution I've found to COMPLETELY eliminate the creak is with the folded paper trick...
Odd that my girlfriends G3 (white) is completely creak free.
If you feel it's the battery area, then try putting multiple pieces of electrical tape on the back of the battery. Therefore when you take off the back cover you don't have to worry about a card falling out.

UPDATE: Any creaking you hear on your G3 is caused by the battery itself, NOT the phone or the battery door. I swapped batteries with my girlfriends G3 and I was not able to reproduce the creaking.

I used a thermal pad on my G2 to prevent creaking. You can get them in a variety of thicknesses, but usually a 0.5mm one is fine. Not only will it stop creaking, but it will also help remove heat from the battery.
Put the sticky side against the battery and leave the backing on the other side. Its not really that sticky, mores lightly tacky, so even if you remove all the backing it wont stick the back to the phone.
Something like these..

Mine is like a rock, no creaks at all ^_^ (unless I bend it, but that aint exactly real world usage..)My G2 creaked like mad though!
