Hello!
I bricked my Defy+... I downgrated from 2.3.5 to 2.3.4 and now it can't turn on.
If I understand I need update with RDS to 2.3.5 or 2.3.6... Where can I download this SBF file or what need I do with my phone?
It is very important... please quickly... thx
Have a look in the sbfs thread, and also the wiki page for defy (propably a sticky thread or one of the first)

flash defy+ sbf and make FULL reset whit recovery(power + volume down when phone power off)
Sorry for my bad english.
I haven't got recovery... :/
I've been in a similar situation with my defy (red lens) and here is how I solved it:
mrolp said:
I passed a couple of hours in this terrible situation and found this topic (caused by a failed downgrade from gingerbread to froyo).
Now I flashed back full gingerbread sbf, power button is working again and battery can charge.
EDIT:
Here is how to solve possible boot loop after bringing it back to life:
- Power DEFY™ off.
- Wait 15 seconds.
- Press and hold POWER/LOCK key and VOLUME DOWN key.
- Continue to press and hold POWER/LOCK and VOLUME DOWN until a screen appears with a "!" inside a triangle and a small Android standing in front of it on a black background.
- Once the "!"-Triangle screen appears, press both VOLUME DOWN and UP keys at the same time. This can be achieved by pressing the center of the VOLUME rocker.
- Once the recovery menu appears (text is blue) use the VOLUME DOWN key to navigate to "wipe data/factory reset".
- Select "wipe data/factory reset" with POWER/LOCK key.
- Navigate with VOLUME DOWN key to "Yes -- delete all user data"
- During this process you will notice the phone format the system memory and cache. This is normal.
- After the factory reset has completed, select "reboot system now" with the POWER/LOCK key.
- Please allow 3-10 minutes for system to recover. A long pause on the stylised "M" logo or the carrier animation is normal. DO NOT power the phone off during this period.
- (MOTOBLUR™ devices only) Once the DEFY™ has booted, you will be greeted with the MOTOBLUR™ login page.

EDIT: For Defy+ things may be harder
No telling when or IF a sbf greater than 2.3.4 will surface!
Did you try flashing ALL 2.3.4 sbf's?
Just to be straight, you DO NOT have STOCK recovery correct? You only get black screen while trying to boot stock recovery (vol down + power)
If this is all true than it appears that newly shipped defy+ with 2.3.5 and 2.3.6 must contain CG ver=6 making it impossible to downgrade by flashing ANY sbf currently available since 2.3.4 sbf's contain CG ver=5
What a crappy situation!

Motorola Defy + bricked
Hi!
after flashing my Defy+, RSD Lite told me that it passed but the phone is completely dead. It doesn't start, it doesn't charge is just the black screen.
It doesn't go in boot mode and the power button it doesn't do anything. The battery has 4.12V on it so is not drained.
any ideas?

i flash my phone with a custom rom from this forum
succesfull until RSD Lite step
after RSD Lite, my phone stuck at Motorola logo with blur
tried pull off and pulling on the batery with power and volume up, it got back to bootloader screen
try aother RSD Power, it is still the same
Progress till 100 persen, but the phone stucked at motorola blur logo
any solution, guys?
thanks
What were you trying to flash?
I try to upgrade to froyo.
it stuck after RSD Lite step
Well first, is your phone rooted? Secondly, what stock version did you have?
I think I can get you up and running with Froyo
you may try to install your original version/build number sbf. if its work, maybe you can try flash froyo ROM again. then when you finished restore custom ROM all you have to do is go to bootloader then flash boot/devtree only sbf.. dont pull usb connection. but if RSD want you to turn phone manually then you need to press power button even though your phone at booting state..
i got the same problem, everything was working fine before i done it a couple times but then i used miui and my phone battery died and it wouldnt work after that so i decided to flash with rsd lite and after doing everything normally its just stuck at the motorola and moto blur symbol/animation thing. really frustrating.

get into stock recover (Vol Up + Power) then wipe data/cache
Half Bricked
I have an Mb525 rooted (that was) running stock 2.2 Blurred. I installed the Defy boot loader and hard reset/wiped partitions and (tried to) install cm7 from SD, it installs fine, goes fine, everything is all set. Reboot the device and the splash image pops up with the white LED first, then the blue one for boot loader, and finally the green one. It stays on splash screen. I tried 2 different versions of cm7 and both do the same thing. I'm able to access the boot loader, it just doesn't finish loading whatever I flash onto it.
As my phone is dysfunctional, I would appreciate it if you could contact me through my Skype;

Solution
I had this problem. Found a solution at 4pda.ru
1. Shut down your phone.
2. Hold Volume- button, press Power button for 2 seconds. Then release both.
3. When you see Android robot press together both Volume+ and Volume- buttons.
4. Erase both Cache and Data.
5. Reboot.
Your phone should boot normally.

Hello guys, first, sorry for my bad english.
I'm having some problems with my defy, I was using the CM7 for months but now it start to stuck on Motorola's logo and when I tried to access the stock recovery, by pressing Power + volume down, anything happened, I only can access the bootloader by pressing Power + volume up.
So I tried to flash a old SBF that I have here, but, when the device will start again, it stuck on Motorola's logo again.
Then I downloaded a SBF that seems to be the "original of my phone version" and flashed it, but the device stills stucking at the Motorola's logo.
I think that I need to wipe data/cache, but how?!?
Any advices??

Sorry, I don`t understand
He is saying you should start over and flash the Nordic SBF again.
But it would be helpful to know which SBF's you've tried which didn't work. What RSD lite version you are using? I'm using RSD Lite 5.3.1 and the 5.1.0 motorola driver and never had issues.
Don't forget to "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache" in Stock Recovery (power + vol down) before flashing.
Also, what did you do before CM7 stopped working. It doesn't break for no reason.

Sorry, missed that part.
Well ... I don't recall reading about such behaviour before - unless the battery is dead.
But then you wouldn't be able to get the bootloader either.
I would try again to get into recovery and make sure you press the power + vol up buttons for a few seconds before releasing.
And out of curiosity: what exactly did you do when CM7 stopped working. It doesn't break for no reason.

I got a similar situation as our friend here. Today I had shutdown my Defy (rooted + stock 2.2.1) when i tried to turn It on again It got stuck at the operator logo forever!
I did the clear data from recovery and I got my cellphone back to live. Thanks!
Im Stuck too...
I have a problem with my Defy MB525, This morning I woke up and found the cell with the Android Logo with Exclamation, it was really hot so I turn off pulling the battery.
Then I tried to power ON but still stuck on Motorola's logo, in trying to enter the recovery (Pressing vol+ and Power but nothing, same pressing vol-).
the strangest of all is that my Defy don't display the white led, so it's not charging?
As far as I was to the symbol of android with red exclamation, I tried pressing the volume buttons but none served.
I was looking in other threads but nothing helps me, can you help me please? thanks.

Hello there!
As you mentioned that you are not able to see other Recovery options like "Install from zip" etc. This is because you must be booting your phone into the Stock Recovery. For those extra options to come up we need to boot the phone into the Custom Recovery.
To boot into Custom Recovery:
1. Press power on button;
2. Notice when the LED light blinks "BLUE" color; press both the volume keys this time;
3. Now it should show you Custom Recovery options this time;
4. Select "Install from Zip" and flash the ROM you were trying to flash (Also refer to the ROM info if that has some special installation steps).
If the above steps does not resolves the issue then you can always flash you phone with the Stock ROM found in the following article named as SBF:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982
[Note: Above mentioned article has all the information that a defy user needs. Thanks "Zephyrot" for that wonderful article.]
Hope that helps!
Good Luck!!
there is no blue led, when press power button it stuck on red moto logo..
and when press both vol down and power it goes into recovery with limited options.
can it is possible i put rom into sd card and rename it with Update.zip and then in recovery use it with update zip..
or any other solution
Thanks

I'm disappointed to know that you are still facing the same issue. Also, renaming the file to update.zip will not let you flash it.
As suggested above first recharge your battery for a while and then flash with appropriate SBF of your region using RSD Lite. Refer to the above given link it has all the information. Also, note that if you flash with any particular android version SBF (which is not a fixed SBF) then you will not be able to downgrade (above article has all info).
Hope this helps!

You may use any ROM either Froyo or Eclair. Please also check the downgradilbility of the ROM. As in many of the cases if the ROM is not fixed then switching back to the earlier versions is impossible without having the Nandroid backup. I suggest you to use the version which is officially released in your region.
ROMs can be downloaded from the below mentioned link:

What if I have balck screen in recovery mode as well?
Do you have any idea how to solve the same problem if the recovery mode does not start neither? Only RSDLite sees that the phone is connected. I can refresh the ROM but I did not find the right .sbf file yet. Do you know maybe which one would bring back the phone from death?

It seems an issue with the Kernel. May be you are flashing the Green lense Defy (MB525) with GB kernel (i.e. MB526 sbf).
Also check the Bootloader version and which Android version you were using.
Here is a list of all the SBF's for both versions:

Hope this helps.
PS:- I don't use Defy for a year now as I own a Nexus 4.
Hi guys,
i have a milestone2 with cm7-tezet and i want upgrade to cm10 tezet. I read the installation guide, but i have not understand one step; i quote:
"Ensure you have GB kernel flashed. If you are upgrading from CM9, there's nothing you need to do. If you are upgrading from my CM7 ROM, flash kernel from this image first."
how i flash with new kernel?
reboot my milestone2 in recovery mode
go to "install zip from sd card"
select the new kernel
then? i must reboot or not?
the recovery mode not change with a new kernel?

Look for an SBF corresponding to the android version you had before CM10 here: http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2
And download it from here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_milestone2/list.php
Follow steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032372 in order to restore your phone.
Instead of pressing @ in step 9, you need to press both volume buttons.
Hope it helps.

thank you!
but RSD Lite is not yet available for download.
and the steps that the guy is explaining cannot be followed, cause my phone is completely dead.
it is off, and when trying to turn it on, it show the Motorola logo for 2 seconds and than disappears. the display of the phone remains powered but nothing happesn in there.
p.s. i can still go to root menu, by pressing and holding X + power button, and than X + Volume UP.
But with the reset data (wiping data / factory reset) nothing happens.
so still in dakr
When your device is off press On/Off button, vol +/- and the camera button.
Then you come to the bootloader. With RSD you can flash it.

i went into but menu (as it is described)
everything was executed smoothly with rsd lite. (i executed this file: 332.0 MiB 93F0ED6430C13DA551F984701D8C8C72 Retail Italian MILS2_U6_2.4.24_SIGNED_USAMILESTONE2B1B8RTIT00E.0R_USXMILE20RTIT_P030_A010_HWp2a_Service1FF.sbf.gz - because i bought in italy my phone)
but the phone is not starting up. and is not giving any sign (before it was showing the motorola logo for 2 seconds)
i cannot make any start using different kind of hard buttons combinations, like : X + power button, Camera + volume+ + power button, with or without USB cable try)
There is no sign of life from my phone

Hi!
this mate is explaining: "so i pulled out battery, pressed volDown + shutter and placed battery in, display remined black. But when I connected it to PC, and tried to flash with sbf_flash and (linux version of RSDlite) and (1) - it succed "
I tried also like him, but to my phone nothing happened....
?!!!!!?!?!?!?!!
Help me, please!
Yesterday, I wanted to make a clean install for the latest Quarx's CM 10.1 nightly (I've been flashing Quarx's builds for almost a year now, he's The Best), but I think I made a terrible mistake.
When I wanted to make a factory reset, I've got this error because the sd-ext, I understand, that happened because TWRP's structure with almost all devices running Android 4.2.2 have a virtual-sd and a sd-ext, so I decided to make an Advance wipe and I every damn box, even wipe system and wipe sd card.
Finally when I rebooted my phone, TWRP asked to install SU, I pressed yes.
Then when my phone was rebooting, I've got this error:
Bootloader
09.10
Err:A5,70,39,00,27
So, I've been flashing Froyo's .sbfs since yesterday, when I get pass verification from RSDLite and rebooted the phone, it just keep bootlooping, I left it almost 15 minutes and still in Froyo's bootanimation, I know it has to do because it's needed wipe data and cahe, but I can't do that because I can't access stock recovery (volume down+power button), I just get the triangle with the little Android in it.
Here's is the .sbf
JORLA_U3_3.4.2_108-5_SIGNED_USAJORDMR1B25CLALALA022.0R_JORLAFROCLALALA_P027_A018_M016_HWp3_WIG147154_Service1FF.sbf.gz
And I did it with RSDLite 5.6.
Hope you can help me, thanks anyway.

I am new to the Defy, but managed to root and move to CM7 and all seems good. I just wondered if there is a version of bootmenu that uses touch screen rather than volume and power buttons? I thought one of the ICS ROMS had a touch screen recovery, but maybe I am thinking of HTC.
Thanks.

Latest CM10 and CM10.1 have a touch bootmenu, even the latest CM 10.1 has TWRP 2.5 that it's a touch custom recovery.

Thanks for your reply.
I prefer CWM to TWRP, but is there a way to get the more advanced bootmenu 2 and keep CWM? Sndinitdefy seems to only have the recovery using the volume controls and power button.
Thanks.

I think Quarx merged that bootmenu when he started to make his 2ndboot nightlies for CM10, but I don't know how to install it separately from his .zip files, you should download some of the latest ROMs a see if you could merge the bootmenu to CM7.
where are you download this Froyo's .sbfs?

can you gave me a download adress? i am a chinese and have poor english level ,can you tell me the way you fix your phone step by step? think you !
This thread should help (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982), in there you'll be able to find everything you need to fix your phone.
First download RSDLite, then search for a sbf suitable for your country.
Then flash it, you need to have Motorola drivers installed and plug the phone on bootloader mode (press volume up+power button), you have to paste the sbf file you extracted in the RSDLite folder, then just execute it and browse the sbf file, finally press flash and wait.
When you read "please start your phone manually" or something like that, disconnect your phone, remove the battery for five seconds then start it on bootloader mode and plug it.
Your phone should boot to Android.
If you get stuck on bootanimation, wipe data and cache from stock recovery (volume down+power button, when you see the triangle press volume volume up+volume down).
Your phone is ready to go now.

It's not the country your Defy proceeds, you need to know the country for your carrier's signal.
