That's a real **** move, DirtyShroomz. You should really keep this to friends and family. If the program was meant for everybody it would be the regular deal every customer gets.
Guys, you've just netted him a bunch of cash. He gets money for every referral.
Perhaps I should show this thread to Jose, DirtyShroomz?
yea but if it saves someone money on their bill than what gives lol the people wouldnt of gotten the discount without him so even if he is making money so are the people that get the discount...how is that a **** move?

thousands of people use and abuse the Employee Referral program this is nothing new "feld" -- just do a quick google search, enjoy reporting all those people.
I for one am already on the employee referral program, and no i dont know anyone that works for sprint. i previously heard about it (years ago) and simply walked into a sprint store, talked to a nice dude and asked him his email/pin and signed up as soon as i got home. he had no issues with it. he didnt even really know what it was. but props to him if he got a bonus for it.
BTW feld i remember when i had 10 posts
I wish this covered the Simply Everything
Sent a PM. Whether you have enough invites to cover me or not, thank you.

How is that a **** move? First of, I actually DONT get any referral money and secondly we have another program called the ADVANTAGE CLUB for FRIENDS AND FAMILY not the referral program where discounts and plans start Everything Data 550 not 440 for $20.00 a month, no deposits, no credit checks, no contracts. Idiot. What has this world gotten to when a simple nice gesture becomes a friggin competition and open grounds for insults?

As for you, when you work at Sprint and log into your system there is a link this the referral program, then at the bottom it says "Click here to print these as business cards! Hand them out to friends or people you meet!" ... Yeah, abused when Sprint themselves encourages you to give them to strangers...
Is this the Everything Plus Referral Plan? I'm on it now (signed up using Russ McGuire, VP of Strategy's well-known and publicly-disclosed info), but I'm not sure its actually worth it. I'm saving a few bucks a month, but the downside is that I'm now right below the monthly payment amount to qualify for Sprint Premier status. If you factor in regular handset upgrade costs, I think I'm coming out behind.

That's exactly my problem. The EPRP plan is right below where I need to be for Premier. I have TEP, which would put me over the threshold, but only the plan price counts. I have suspicion that they planned it that way.

It depends on the plan you receive. It's $69.99 for individual and $99.99 for family to qualify. So yes, there are some that will put you under the threshold to qualify for premier status, but if you've been with us for 10+ years you're always going to be premier... Yea I know, that's a long time

I have heard of this on Verizon as well I believe it. If ur going out of the country turn off everything or leave ur phone at home...

This is insane, ridiculous unbelievable.. Good luck to Stacey and her Family...
what she probably failed to realize is that the evo background syncs a whole lot. so while she may have only been on facebook for a couple of minutes, htc sense was on it all day. plus sense weather was collecting data for location and weather etc etc..
While I feel sympathy for how outrageous the bill is, she should have known international data roaming is $$$
When I was in Cancun last month, I was in airplane mode the entire time. What an idiot!
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
i want to feel sorry for her but her numbers dont eve match up she listed both 600 mb and 4.7 gb as how much data she used. 5 mintues of face book pushing emails background data from weather etc wont run either of those ina week. now if she was using qik or something to broadcast her vacation to the world for a few hours maybe.
while its easy to feel sorry for her and blame sprint the question is who is on the account? it sounds like it was a shared plan and that her parents had enabled international roaming and were told the charges when they did however they didnt tell their daughter.
with the discrepency in the amount of data used in her story, the fact she said she wasnt internationally set up but still thought to get on facebook and the fact sprint has confirmed the phone esn wasnt duplicated etc i tend to think she is giving a partial story, and is upset as anyone would be with the bill.
My guess she knew she was going to get charged but didnt realize exactly how much it would cost her and used it anyway. Then came home to a big bill and so downplays her usage to try to get it reduced and is upset as anyone would be with the extreme charges.
thats at least what i would bet the case is.
facebook sync loop for the loss!
Sorry, seems iffy to me. Only using FB 5 times a day and text messages? There is no way that is even close to that sort of data usage.
Screenshots or it didn't happen.
I don't really curse much but; That is a REALLY STUPID *****. I am sorry to say. After reading what happened from the orignal thread starter and the other posters in the sprint user forum, she is at fault because like a majority of consumers, she doesn't read the documents provided to her and expects the company to clean up the mess she started and made.
I really hate when consumers get away with things like this. They are purposely clueless too take advantage of companies. I am no company lobbyist, but I guess I should be dumb too if it will get me a freebie.

It's her fault and sprints. Sprint should have shut off service after $1k or 2k of charges and got verbal confirmation before restoring service. If they can protect themselves from users who abuse their service with large data usages then why not with excessive charges.

Same here, went on a cruise to the Bahamas and left the phone turned off. My buddy had his on airplane mode and just used it for taking pics. Whether or not the rates are correct, its pretty stupid to use the phone for anything other than emergencies when you're in another country. Even with international calling, I don't think that applies to data. I could be wrong though. Seriously, you couldn't stay off Facebook for a frickin week?!?

Because in one instance they would be limiting access to their equipment from heavy users who were previously promised "unlimited" service (if this was indeed the case with Sprint); but in the other instance they have no incentive to do so - they are simply counting money.
I agree, however, that it would be ethical to:
1. Put an end to ridiculous international roaming charges somehow
2. Provide adequate warning to customers where #1 is not possible (due to politics, etc.); if one can get a free text message when the monthly bill is due, there's no reason something like that can't be set up for roaming:
"Hey customer, as a courtesy notice, as of mm/dd/yyyy you have accumulated $X in roaming charges. You can turn off your phone, or keep using it according to your roaming agreement - link here."
where X can be 300, 500, 1000, etc. or several of the above.
Stupid.

This isn't news... hell, it's an everyday occurrence!!
i used to be a escalation supervisor for a sprint call center and i can tell you that this is valid charge. at most they'll probably meet her half way...those intl charges can suck but that what she gets for being a dumb *****! btw i seen higher!
Decided to use my ip hone instead of my evo last month in cancun. Even with all international features enabled, I still ran up a 1400 dollar bill . Was my fault I paid it. Just my experience.
Today while reading Dsl reports, I saw that Google has picked Kansas City as its test bed for their 1gbps fiber internet.
And a few people have mentioned that Google could buy Sprint, I think this could be a very good thing IMHO.
But im not at all familiar with stuff like this, so thats why i posted this to see the pro or cons of maybe Google buying Sprint.

Man Ive been talking hard about Sprint/Google merge since AT&T pulled their fast one.
Could such merge happen? I think so this is why,
Sprint & google had to be in discussion for some time knowing what AT&T was up to setting the stage.
Google would be taking a big chance but it would be in both best interest to make such deal happen seeing Googles best friend was T-mobile which will be no more & that Verizon , ATT are iphone happy singing new deals with Apple.
I'm betting Apple/Verizon deal had some strings attached to turn away future google goods , I'm sure V would have no problem with that seeing all Android device currently on their shelf are binged out which has been not giving google freedom needed to truly succeed .
At&T purchases T-mobile puts MAJOR MAJOR dent into Android so were does that leave google? Not in good shape with other carriers Big $$ will be lost.
If google keeps pumping Sprint up with the goods and play well merge would only make sense balls in their court they truly control their future.
Good question. Easy to look at the financials as both companies are public.
Sprint is worth about $14 billion right now. Google has $9 billion in cash and $34 billion in cash and short term investments.
So yes, Google could afford to buy Sprint.

Well not so fast financials does not determine the value of a company. T-Mobile is selling for 39 billion and Sprint has way more spectrum and customers so Sprint would by my account be worth more.

You are definitely correct. Sprint is worth 14 billion but Sprint also has a ton more cash in hand.
This isn't just high speed fiber, this is a whole new way of delivering the internet with mass hubs/processors, in a mobile capacity, grouped together in any random location, delivering up to a Gigabyte of speed.
Very progressive thinking from Google that started about 12 years ago when they started purchasing the containers to use as the hubs.
One thing I've been saying for years is that we have worked flawlessly to make evberything faster, except the main pipeline, since 1997 when the first cable internet connections started to be offered.
That's 14 years of a 10 mg cap. Glad to see that Google has been wondering the same thing.
The words getting out tomorrow should be interesting
http://www.deadzones.com/2011/03/will-google-eventually-buy-sprint.html
It would probably be a cash + stock + debt deal, if Google was to buy Sprint. Give Sprint shareholders like 1/5 - 1/3 share of Google stock for each Sprint share, plus a few billion in cash, or something like that.
This merger would make LOTS of sense for both parties. And if VZ was really looking to sell their FiOS operations to Google, it would make The Goog a nicely vertically integrated company: fiber, phone, and search/data/apps in the cloud.
Methinks this could go down -- and sooner than we think. Which would be a huge benefit to Sprint subs.
My one concern is, there was lots of fiber laid in the late 90's - early '00s that still dark (anyone remember Global Crossing?) so theres lots of unused capacity out there. How does that impact Google wanting to lay fiber in other areas? Or does Google look to buy some of that unused fiber and become an ISP??? Hmmmm...
This could be great news, especially with companies like HTC potentially locking their phones. This way, we know we'll have some good pure google phones... hopefully.
Well I'm looking very forward to Google mobile hope it happens.
3 major carriers competition remains lots of choice and oh ya , We get some kick butt hardware
I definitely am mixed. On the one hand I hate these big mergers because it means less choice. But I really like both sprint and android.
Sprint is getting the nexus s and google voice so it looks like they are boosting the relationship up a notch.

This merger would leave more choice.
If Google doesn't buy Sprint Verizon will which would be bad for market locking consumer into 2 choices
i think it would be a smart choice for Google and i hope they do it then we can get all there new ideas in the updates and stuff for there phones =]
I've been up to the Google hq in norcal and my uncle is a contractor that is part of the fiber build that is going down with Google and ya its going to be huge if and when Google goes forward with the project super huge speeds

It would be a heck of an antitrust court case.
Imagine if Microsoft bought a wireless carrier, that would never get through the ftc.
maybe this would, who knows.
I'm surprised no one mentioned all of Sprints debt. Regardless, if Google bought them they would most likely pay it of to bring their credit rating up.
Another, maybe, coincidence is google's promise to bring 1gigabit speeds to everyone. True 4G is a minimum 1gbit and Sprint is in desperate need of a high speed fiber network for their back haul.

Sprint Nextel CEO Daniel Hess, who is against the merger, also testified. He argued that the merger will give AT&T and Verizon 80% control of the cellular market and would lead to a return of the MA Bells of the 1980s.

It's not about learning from the past, it is about pure greed. The governement will allow this merger, than invest heavily in ATT/Tmobile/verizon and then allow them to take advantage of the american people so that their stock prices go up. Why do you think they haven't stopped the oil companies from jacking up the price of gas despite barely any change in price per barrel of oil?

So today Verizon has finally succeeded in screwing me out of my unlimited data package. Check this out. So my girlfriend goes into the Verizon store to get an upgrade to her phone to a smart phone. The chick behind the counter told her that I had a 4gig package and i only use around 3 gigs a month, so if she turned it into a shared data plan it wouldn't cost any extra. So I get off work and she tells me she got a new phone, blah blah blah, sharing 4 gigs of data. So I called up Verizon and told them the situation and they gave me an email I could write a complaint too and that they don't offer the unlimited package anymore so it would be impossible to switch me back. So not only did they lie to my girlfriend they also pretty much told me to get fu#%ed.
Yeah this is a complaint post, but I also wanted to thank all the devs who made this a great a phone, and because I am leaving Verizon I will have to switch my phone. Verizon and their cdma standard strikes again!
Thanks again to all the devs, i'll be sorry to see my Play go.:crying:

Or call up the corporate ladder. Seriously, if someone you talk to on the phone doesn't help, ask to speak to their manager. Follow it up the line or send emails. There is no reason why that representative's deceptive practices should be okay, even to the company. Especially if they want your business. Tell them you're cancelling your account and aren't going to pay that cancelling fee. That's the thing that'll make the difference.
As for me, unless something like that happens first, I'll be switching when my contract is up at the end of next year. Switching to Virgin Mobile, who has actually started getting some pretty decent phones lately. Prepaid ftw!

I already went as high up the ladder as I care too. If unscrupulous practices are ok at the salesman level, and taking into account the companies shift towards the money instead of the consumer, I am pretty much done with them. Epicly disappointed and done.
I think you are being a **** when you call. When I recently lost my unlimited data due to a retard rep at Walmart switching the code to a tiered data plan. I called them and was courteous and knowledgable. Being polite and firm at the same time got the rep to put the unlimited data SOC code back on my account, without even transferring me to another department or higher level rep. Try again, and lose the attitude ,no one will respect you.
.....but let's say you were already pretty rude and showed a high level of frustration and anger, all that is recorded into the notes section of your account for all reps to see. So be careful or no matter who you get transferred to they will politely tell you to fck off.

Your probably right, but I find it hard to be polite and courteous to company that lies and misrepresents information.
Don't take this the wrong easy as I hate VZ. But its not VZs fault for this.. it was the lying rep, probably get a perk for switching people to the Shared Data. I would call back explain politely the situation telling g them you feel this was a lie to your girlfriend and your account was switched to shared data against your consent. If you are the authorized user amongst the two of you then they should be a little more helpful.
