hello x8 users im new here
i just want to ask if i use x8Overclock and x8Undervolt will my battery drains fast ?
because i got a good benchmark points when i overclock my x8 to 748Mhz but the battery drains fast..
all veterans and modders here please answer my question... thanks in advance..
Overclock? theoretically, yes . Higher CPU clock = more power is needed. dunno if undervolt can reduce it, I never tried to overclock my device(froyo). I think its not working well in froyo ROMs(?)
Only overclock bro, higher cpu speed=more power=more gas needed, just like an race car
Sent from my XPERIA X8 using XDA Premium App
i see . . i thought it can reduce to normal battery drain when i use undervolt with overclock.. i guess ill just revert back to 600mhz... thanks guys !
You dont need to oc froyo, its not work very well with oc, iv been trying and revert to 600mhz
Sent from my XPERIA X8 using XDA App
You can use smartass governor it will save battery, and you can use setcpu or cpuboost and set the speed when the screen is off with 320 max and 122min this will save you more battery.
Sent from my XPERIA X8 using XDA Premium App
i see... FroyoBread is fast enough for 600Mhz ... where can i configure the Smartass Governor sir dotsen ? i think i'll underclock my phone to 480mhz whenever i go out ... btw thanks again . . =)
Use setcpu ,cpubooster, master cpu .I use overclock on froyo pro,740 max and 480 min.
Sent from my XPERIA X8 using XDA Premium App
using cpu master now.. i adjust my min to 320mhz . . it feels really fast.. nice
does x8undervolt really saves battery life?
Whats the diff. if u set the min to 122mhz than 320mhz?
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
Well,if you set the min speed to 320 mhz ,it's a speed da doesn't go lower than that .so it's faster.

Now we have root on ARC, its high time we overclock it...
SetCpu doesn't work...
Can someone provide a comprehensive tutorial on overclocking and benchmarking ARC...???
First you need a custom kernel
and search..there's already a thread for this.

And also setcpu does work

With "setCPU works" they just mean it works. you can't go above 1Ghz that's how it is for now.
Please, edit the tittle.

Exactly thats what I observed... That simply means it isn't workig as it should...!!!

That's because you don't know how setCPU works apparently
It works perfectly, setCPU allow you to modify the frequency of the processor within the range allowed by the kernel.
So once again, we need a custom kernel that modifies the voltage and frequencies allowed for setCPU to go higher than 1Ghz.
Just curious why do you wan't to overclock the phone, is it to slow?
What will happen if you overclock:
- higher battery drain
- Phone gets really hot
- it makes the cpu unstable
I never overclocked my phones and even the hero still runs fast.

The title says, "OverClocking"... I don't want to my cpu to work at lower freqs... I need overclocking...
Besides we r not here to discuss setCpu...
Waiting for custom Kernel...!!!
yup guys setcpu is working in our Arc in terms of 'battery saving' for now
overclocking is for later (or sooner i hope)
The MSM8255 can be overclocked to 1.8GHz on the Desire HD. I'll try to make an overclock kernel this week, but it's definately more work than I thought.

If u know how to make a kernal go ahead so I can use more cpu but it works anyway the development isnt all too good at the minute but will be hopefully then we will have roms and hopefully kernals but u cant ***** about things if you cant try things your self just my opinion

Yes you are right the maximum is 1024 cant go any further i didn't know that he meant to go above 1024
before open such threads you should know about overclocking, of course setcpu wont enable overclock with stock kernel, why should it???
Speed is something which we always want more .. If we get Dual Core with 1.2Ghz still we need to over to push the limit. That's human nature ....
I have got overclocked Xperia Neo and when it was on 1.8 ghz it was 1. stable 2. cold 3. and really fast! but when you start to play somethink yes then it is really hot and it drain a battery too much I think oc is good.
Sorry for my bad English
Just done some benchmarking with my X8 and thought I'd try with the CPU set to 806MHz with smartass-v2. It didn't like it at all, the phone froze and I had the red light on.... oops! Its ok though restored from nandroid so back to 729MHz and stable I think. Has anyone managed to get their X8 to work with the CPU set to 806MHz?

Yes NaA kernel, I will flash alf's and see how it handles thanks
I got my x8 running 806Mhz for short time with alfs v006. I was able to benchmark it with Quadrand (1503) but it frozen on Antutu. And phones battery heats up pretty fast
i dont like overcolck just make swap and make morE ram will be more faster
i like both
Sent from my E15a using xda premium
How is that possible to have stable 806 MHz? I tried both kernels and Ive got red LED in both case. Now using alfs with 748Mhz stable
i tried it with Stock, nAa and alfs, stable at 729Mhz but not above
don't think it's possible to be stable at 806Mhz
at 748Mhz stable a while but sometimes freezes
I think that OVERCLOCKING depends on your device like with PC OC - someone can get better (higher) frequency on same model. My X8 reboots on 729MHz.
lolxzz...i think m so lucky

with gdx + alfs, my x8 can overclocked up to 768 Mhz.. Nicee..

alfs kernel ftw!
I have 3 x8s and overclock works best with alfs for me. 729mhz seems the best for performance and battery on 3 devices. 1 x8 will stay stable over 800mhz but the other 2 freeze. For testing overclock don't "set at boot" until you find a stable frequency. It saves restoring everytime

It doesn't like 806MHz
i have stable 729mhz
Mine got stable at 787 MHz. No option for higher frequencies in alfs v05 uncapped Do you get options for 800's on v06 guys?

Don't forget to install setcpu after flashing the rom. My recommendations:
Min 200mhz max 600 for great battery life but slow phone
Min 200 or 300mhz max 800 for average performance
Min 300mhz max 1ghz for good performance and so-so battery life
My phone works stable even on 1.1 and 1.2 ghz but then I get big battery drain.
Another tip: default phone dialer is very slow/laggy. I use exDialer from playstore instead

Battery will drain faster, phone will be warmer. Some CPU's can't handle 1GHz so your phone may lag and you will have to change to a non-oc kernel.

I tried out your Set CPU setup and it was kind of bad, because of the lagfree governor,i did some research and i found a thread explaing all governors and lagfree doesn't actually make your phone "Lag free" it saves battery by throttling it down to the minimum clock speed for a simple task but when it needs more juice it will throttle higher providing more performance, but it doesn't work well as i have had regular force closes with apps like FlipBoard, Falcon Pro and messaging (which force closed alot)
Thanks anyways for contributing

Awesome stuff man.
I decided to install Lupus Kernel (720p) and I failed so many times because ADB wasn't detecting my phone in fastboot and reason is because i use a mini usb hub (it connects into 1 hub and makes 5 hubs) so adb and fastboot dident have direct conntact with my phone and today i had a strange feeling and pluged it in to main usb port on my pc and it worked like a charm,i flashed lupus and i am enjoying it.
I think it is considerably faster that Doomkernel and smoother AND reliable,i used to get random force closes every now and then but now its super smooth and Touch screen response seems to be 100x better,
I also tried out your setup and shadowgun,Dead trigger(ULTRA GFX setting) and MC4 runs smooth at around 50 FPS
Glad I could help!

Yes, it is true
Currently using "832/312 smartassV2 sio" because its a popular config but im looking for better battery efficiency but when Im gonna play games I want it to ramp up to the max frequency but like I said when im just using sms and other little apps I want it to be at a frequency that wont make my phone lag but save battery. For me I think smartassV2 is too aggressive.
btw im using no-frills with Hell Fusion #50

I think only smartassv2 and ondemand are the best for your needs. You can also try brazillianwax, it also works like smartassv2 but much more performance with this.
