Can I use my phone and connect to a wireless signal (gogo inflight) and use Wifi tether on my laptop?
2 reasons for this. it's cheaper to use Mobile devices with GoGo Inflight and if you can share it with a 2nd client, that's buy one get one free. LOL
Your phone won't be able to "repeat" the gogo inflight. It can't receive and transmit at the same time.

You might be able to blue tooth tether, but I don't know if wifi tether uses any connection or if it will only use 3g...

didn't even realize that we could BT tether, what about USB tether?
I'm interested in this too: has anyone tried tethering Gogo with a PC over USB, and have you been able to use the Gogo internet on your PC without Gogo complaining that your browser user-agent wasn't a mobile phone user-agent?

From lifehacker:
"Home and technology blog Unplggd offers a few tips on grabbing in-flight Wi-Fi on the cheap. The obvious suggestions are Googling coupon codes (or checking RetailMeNot) and buying in packages (you can cut out up to 35% this way), but it turns out you can grab a free Wi-Fi pass pretty easily through promotions. If you're renting a car, booking a travel package, or just getting a parking spot near the airport, there are often promotions to get a free in-flight Wi-Fi pass. Just call and ask.
Here's a bonus, semi-evil tip for getting a discount without any codes: identify your laptop's browser user agent as a mobile phone (Firefox/Chrome). When you fly, Wi-Fi for mobile phones is usually a few dollars cheaper than it is for bigger devices like a laptop or even a tablet. If you identify your web browser as a mobile phone when you sign up, you'll pay the lower price. Once the sign up is complete, you can switch back and browse normally."
I didn't find this one after Googling, thanks
(The point of tethering here is also to have both your phone and your PC connected to the internet with only one subscription, not only to pay cheaper)

Both Wired Tether and the built-in USB Tethering can be used to tether a wifi connection. I do this regularly as my laptop's wireless card is often allergic to access points.
A neat thing I discovered was that while you are on the plane, you can connect to GoGo without signing in. Most things won't work, but google maps and google voice will. I was texting everyone (GV) during my last few flights.
Anyone else discover anything else that works in flight?
I bought the nexus 7 and still waiting for it to arrive. Sold my NOTE to get this. The reasons were 1) Pure Google Exerience 2) Quad-Core Tegra 3/Bigger screen. I am not much into voice calling (typical nerd) and prefer to communicate over the web.
Although I do have wifi at home for primary usage, I am just wondering can I use wireless Bluetooth tethring to access the web on N7 on secondary basis?
I currently have nokia X2-02 with unlimited internet access and not sure if its good enough for the purpose. Do not want to spend on another phone, just to get wifi tethering.

I don't know about the Nokia and its tethering capabilities. But I tether my HOX to my N7 and I have to say, tethering it to the N7 makes browsing much faster than browsing directly from the HOX (If you get that) I don't know how, but this N7 is epic.
Plus its like 3 clicks and your tethered and on the internet.
So yes, tethering to the N7 is simple and brilliant, as long as you have a device capable of outputting it to the N7.
To answer the HOW - Find your tethering on your phone/device your using the connection from, do anything necessary to set it up, such as the WPA password etc once you've created the hotspot their, your N7 will see it as a wireless connection (wifi) connect it and your all set.
Errr...Thanks for the reply bro but I know how wifi tethring works but right now I don't have any device capable of wifi tethring and just wondering if I can get the bluetooth tethring to work somehow. So its like I want to use my phone data connection on my N7, wirelessly via bluetooth.
I have Bluetooth tethering working with my Sony Xperia S.
The Nexus 7 is capable, it's really just the question whether your phone is.
The good thing about BT tethering is that it uses much less power than a WiFi hotspot.

Ok just to update everyone who is interested, as long as the mobile device supports DUN Bluetooth profile, the N7 can connect to the device and thus you can use the internet. I was able to use my nokia phone to tether my 3G connection via bluetooth. Just pair the devices and check the option on the N7 to use the other device as internet source.

Hi,
I am an Electronic Engineer and I am new to Android programming and I need to know how it works when a phone access a free wifi hotspot and an app is being downloaded (web page opens and allows you to download an App) to the phone when trying to access the internet ?
Anyone knows this and can share or share good links to info, thanks.
In the end I would like to setup an ANDROID phone and a PC as the wifi hotspot so they can download an app to a phone when connected via the hotspot (which can be another phone or a PC, both actually but not at the same time).
Regards Peter

Hi, I would like to use my S8 to livestream my gopro (with a self made app based on FFmpeg), for that I need to be connected to the GoPro stream via WiFi and I need to use my cellular data (LTE) to send it to a streaming server.
In my test I noticed this phone is unable to keep both connection open at the same time, it was not the case on my previous LG G4, I was also able to test on a nexus 5X where it worked successfully, so I blame the samsung software (PS: I just did an update, didn't change anything).
I tried every options (and combination possible), keep cell data, agressive wifi/cell, both in dev' settings, also smart wifi (agressive or not) in regular settings... And it didn't change anything (the smart thing only either fully disable the wifi connection to local only wifi or connects fully to it and awaits internet connection).
I found this thread on samsung forum https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...internet-while-connected-to-GoPro/td-p/185875 with no answer...
Do you guys have any solution?
Quick edit: I did try to use "Download booster" thing but it doesn't help, it seems the phone is still using the wifi for DNS, I tried with and without smart switch thing... They really didn't think about people using WiFi without internet connection voluntary??
Thanks
same problem here, i don' t know how to fix it. you can share your code? with other guys we are trying to do a solution to live stream gopro on android , if you want i'll link it to you
It cannot be done as we cannot change our IP, Default Gateway, or Subnet on our WiFi.
With iOS you can, thus why iOS users can use the GoPro and LTE simultaneously.
Enjoy.
