[Q] I think I unintentionally bricked mytouch 3g 1.2 - myTouch 3G, Magic General

So I have a mytouch 3g 1.2 32A
After upgrading to Clockword Recovery MOD 2.5.0.7 thru rom manager, I tried to upgrade from cyanogen 6.0 to 6.1 after wiping factory wipe only it failed with a status 7.
I've tried flashing the Amon_ra recovery thru fastboot, but it gives me a remote: not allow error.
My fastboot now says that S-ON instead of S-OFF
I had a goldcard.img from the first time I rooted still, but I'm can't flash any new recovery image or a new rom, they all fail, I also can't restore from a backup, it'll start the process and then an error that reads
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0p1)
(I/O error)
Can't mount /sdcard/.android_secure!)
So whats my next step guys? I'm phoneless right now. so I'd appreciate all your help!

Ok. Your SPL is stock and you really have MT3G v1.2
Do you solve problems with USB drivers?
Anyway... You can flash 2.10.531.4 from RUU 4shared
or
get 2.10.513.4 in archive: rapidshare
rename it to SAPPIMG.ZIP
place it to sdcard
turn phone off
turn on by pressing and holding VolumeDown + Power (it will start into hboot-mode and search for sappimg.zip)

This error indicates to difference between versions... ROM has 2.10.531.4 version, your phone has - you will know if run:
Code:
fastboot getvar version-main
Try to erase system
Code:
fastboot erase system
and flash again

Can't erase thru fastboot, it still gives me the remote not allow error.. I downloaded the newest r15 of android sdk, and copied the fastboot.exe from r13 to the tools.. what am I missing to fix this?

Damn, it is bad. Your phone is not bricked, but in deadlock.
Can you boot into recovery? Load phone into fastboot-mode and run
fastboot boot recovery.img
Then you can erase system and data partitions and flash custom rom.

Ok, so I ran get version thru fastboot: it's version 2.53.707.2
when I run the fastboot boot recovery.img I get this
cannot load recovery.img
So how do I get out of deadlock?
also in recovery i have options to format the following:
boot
system
data
cache
sdcard
sd-ext
would any of those help?

Try to erase system. We must avoid check of main version to install official ROM
Then we can root it and restore all customs...

My HTC Magic Stuck in RUU Screen after failed ROM upgrade

Applied the latest Rogers ROM...what a bad move...
Now my HTC Magic got stuck in RUU screen showing the following:

RUU
I tried many ways to get rid of this screen but didn't work.
My phone original has the rogers 2.17.631.2 build, and I did a bad move to upgrade to Android 1.5.=( The RUU process flashed my HBOOT and RADIO, but as soon as it starts the "system" steps, the screen shows unzipping for over an hour and eventually failed. Now my phone will start up with the above screen only!! i can't get myphone startup in recovery mode or fastboot mode.
I tried re-run the RUU porgram on my PC and the tool still shows i have the old anroid build. Hence i know that i now have NEW HBOOT and RADIO but still the old Android build.
Is there a way for me to get out of this RUU screen? Any help is appreciated.
Is the security off (S-OFF) allows me to downgrade the SPL? If so, how can i do that given i can only boot my HTC Magic in this screen only.
One more side note, fastboot can detect the phone.
Urgently need help! Appreciated.
If you have constant security S-OFF, it accepts all ROMs and HBoot and RUU. Probably you have engineering Magic (not Hboot, the whole device)
1. Try this...
If fastboot can detect phone, so try flash Amon_RA Hero recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561124
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
(recovery.img or other filename must be in folder with fastboot.exe)
Then start into recovery (Home + Power) and flash CursorSense
If you need original ROM (without root), so search forum for it
(it has been posted already). Just get rom1.zip (system.img, userdata.img and more...) and flash it (Saying again: official doesn't contain root)
2. Or try run another RUU

Yes, common fastboot required to be engineering. But you have S-OFF now, so no checks.
use RA_Hero, cause you have radio 6.35.X.X

Tried flashing the recovery.img (RA_Hero) but failed.
i typed fastboot flash recovery recovery.img [ renamed the file to recovery.img] but got the error...
sending 'recovery' <3362 KB>... OKAY
writing 'recovery'... FAILED <remote: image type not support>
Just to clarify more, the screen only shows "RUU USB" not "FASTBOOT" although fastboot can see my device... could that be the reason why it failed?
According to your 2nd suggestion, where can i find other RUU and how do i know which is the proper one?

the rogers ROM is not working right. Too many crashes and so on .. so try this one
RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_3.05.401.3_release_signed_NoDriver.exe
You can download it from HTC main site ...
Also, you have to keep in mind that you can RUU as many as you want. So do the procedure again and keep us posted if it's working. If not send me a PM and i'll resolve it step by step.
best of luck !
I have one Magic and it show in Bootloader :
PVT 32 S-OFF
1.76.0007 (SAPP*****).
Why the SAPP is SAPP*****? Is there something wrong?
Also, the device detected by fastboot is 1234567890... , not like other HTC Magic.
Now I get stuck with RUU Flash at 81% (Hong Kong RUU). --> When the device start to update system STEP. So the Magic now just show RUU, can connect by Fastboot but when use fastboot flash system or recovery, only can send to phone and write error.
Anybody help me to solve this?

I do have the same problem with my RUU flash with the new Rogers RUU. Stuck at 81% when device starts updating at step[4] "system". Phone will show "unzipping" for over an hour and eventually failed with error code [155].
I tried the RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_3.05.401.3_release_signed_ NoDriver.exe but still the same problem. Can anyone help here?
Did more investigation, and seems like both RUU ROMs i tried might not match the CID, hence the system ROM updating failed.
Now the question is, i am stuck in RUU and cannot use adb to check my CID now. How can i manually update the system ROM given i am in RUU mode only?
How can i manually update the HBOOT and RADIO if i am stuck in RUU screen? If the RUU program can automate the process in one click, is there program to allow me to update each individually? Note that i cannot get into fastboot mode.
Any advice? Thanks!

I had a 32B G2,it was brikked at the first time when I ruu flash the rom(Sense official). G2 couldn't received any RUU rom.it would stop at 22%.
Today, when I ruu flash the rom(HTC_Europe_3.04.401.2),I also found it stop at 81%.
SPL is updated to 1.76.0008 from 1.76.0007.
It seems much better than before. But it still could not accept the cmd "adb shell"
Hoping somebody could help us.

You will end up with an ENG SPL that allows you to flash what ever you want then.
I manually updated Radio and SPL and now using CursorSense ROM.
Obviously replace the "hxxp" with "http". Hope it helps at least some of you like it did for me.

Were you upgraded to the latest perfected SPL when the same problem happens? I had my goldcard configured properly, but everytime i run RUU, the process hang at 81%, which is the time when unzipping system.img happens.
I understanding the latest SPL is still yet hard to crack, but will my phone being S=OFF, can have some ways to get the system check bypassed?
Thanks!

What exactly do you have? You posted in one place - that you have 32B

Help: Flashed a bad radio and bricked my phone

SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0006 (SAPP50000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-2.22.23.02
I flashed the 2.22.23.02 through fastboot by mistake and now I can't get into recovery mode, or flash any other radios onto the phone. The fastboot menu is the only thing I can get to on the phone.
I tried reflashing the 2.22.23.02 again but it won't go through...
Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to unbrick it?
Edit: Tried sappimg.nbh via volume down and power button but i get a Model ID error. Now i can't fastboot anything over to my phone.
Edit: Flashed the sappimg.nbh, sappimg 2.16.707.3, sappimg 2.53.707.2, via gold card but I now get the error: Main Version is older!
I have answered similar questions before...
Use the search function.
But to get you started here is a quick solution.
1) flash eng spl that starts with 1.33.20XX where XX can be 05,09 or 10.
Restart into fastboot.
2) flash the right spl/radio/recovery combo.
This is confirmed to work....
Next time post ALL fastboot info... there are some info mission in your post!
all the fastboot info...
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0006 (SAPP50000)

I have just tried flashing hboot-1.33.2010 via fastboot.
However, I get the error message:
sending 'hboot' (512 KB)... FAILED (remote: not allow)
do this:
----- If you boot into fastboot and have issues with "fastboot:remote not allow", then your SPL won't work. Upgrade to Engineering SPL before continuing.
----- If you do not have an Engineering SPL, download 1.33.2010 and flash through recovery before starting this procedure. Flash the SPL update.zip like any other update.zip file.
in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=605239
Unfortunately... I can't boot into recovery either, nor can i push a recovery image to the phone. I get the same error: "fastboot:remote not allow".
ok... you are very limited...
Do this:
Find a suitable sappimg.nbh... Not sappimg.zip...
Use this which i just uploaded for you:
http://rapidshare.com/files/421772202/SAPPIMG.nbh
Using your goldcard flash the sappimg.nbh in fastboot.
The sappimg.nbh does not need any unzipping... it's a complete img of the nand and overwrites everything.
I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere....
is there a way to create a goldcard at this point for me?
I can't get into debug mode on the phone (for obvious reasons) and therefore can't do adb....
Find ANY android device and make a goldcard...
Then use the goldcard on your device...
wouldn't suppose anyone have the goldcard.img from their email that they could send me...
1)Download the -G magic RA recovery
2) rename it to recoveryG.img
3) run 'fastboot boot recoveryG.img' (with the phone in fastboot mode)
4) allow recovery to boot then run the following adb commands
Code:
adb push recoveryG.img /tmp/recoveryG.img
adb flash_image recovery /tmp/recoveryG.img
5) Now power down the phone
6) boot into recovery by holding home+power
10) flash 1.33.2009 or 1.33.2010
Now you will have fastboot again
Most likely you will want to find and flash via fastboot radio 3.22.20.17 if you are not a Rogers/Fido customer or have signed the e911 wavier, otherwise you want 3.22.26.17..
After flashing the 3.x radio flash RA -h recovery via fastboot (and while in fastboot run 'fastboot erase system -w'); this will let you flash the ebi1 rom of choice
I just downloaded the recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img
renamed it so recoveryG.img.
When i try to run the command: fastboot boot recoveryG.img
I get the error message:
downloading 'boot.img'...FAILED (remote: not allow)
Then its best to just install the official e911 ruu from rogers and re-root
I have tried that, but it doesn't work...

EDIT: I think mum was on the right track. Your going to need a goldcard. No one will be able to send you their .img because its SD card specific. You don't know anyone with a Android based phone?

I also just tried 2.16.707.3 SAPPIMG.zip and I still get this error.

Not bricked but not working

My friend handed me their MyTouch 2.1 to fix and I don't know what to do with this one.
When I gave them the phone it had SPL 1.33.2010 and the old 3.22 radio. They were on Cyanogen 6.
He wanted to put Gingerbread on the phone so he upgraded the radio to 6.35.10.18 however recovery went missing. He could flash different recoveries from fastboot but it wouldn't boot in to recovery. It just hung at the green MyTouch screen.
He tried downgrading the radio thinking that would fix the issue with recovery not working. It didn't. As a last resort he flashed the Saphire.nbh. That restored his radio and hboot to a lower version however there still is no recovery installed on the phone and now there is no access to flash via fastboot.

If you can access fastboot you should be ok.
Download a copy of clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 or amon-ra recovery
Make sure you have android sdk on your computer and a copy of fastboot installed in the tools directory on your computer. Copy the recovery into your tools folder on your computer and rename it recovery.img
Boot the phone into fastboot and connect it to the computer.
Open a terminal on your computer and run "fastboot devices" and make sure it sees the phone, you should get something back like HXXXXXXXX
Then just flash it over.
If I remember correctly the command is
fastboot flash recovery /android-sdk/tools/recovery.img
(that is assuming your android-sdk is in a directory called android-sdk and the recovery.img file is in tools)
fastboot reboot
That will get recover back on the phone. From there with either clockwork or amon_ra you should be able to reflash a rom

Yeah that's not going to work.
@ the OP, since you have a perfected SPL you'll need to create a goldcard and flash an engineering SPL to the phone with it. Then you can do the steps from above. Secondly, since you have the 6.35 radio you'll have to flash Amon Ra's recovery for the Hero, version 1.6.2.

Thanks DonJuan692006. I went hunting for the goldcard I used to originally root his phone. I was able to get the original sappimg.nbh installed on the phone. Fortunately for me it was still on the card.
Info now shows:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
RADIO-2.22.23.02
Oct 21 2009, 22:33:27
Now that the phone is functional I can fix it for him. Thanks for the help everyone.
Looks like the I have no access to the SD Card now in the rom. It says Removed SD Card. I've tried 5 different cards 1GB-16GB and it doesn't see any of them.
Interestingly it says "recovery can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0" when I try and flash an update.zip from recovery. This it turning out to be very frustrating.

I was trying to flash Ginger Yoshi rom but I think I flashed the wrong SPL and now is stuck at fastboot screen not able to get to recovery mode. I flashed a few roms before but is really a newbie. I read another posting with similar problem and saw that someone suggested flashing recovery img again but I don't know how to do that. Please HELP!

Ah, very easy to fix. You need to get fastboot installed on your computer and verify that it can see the phone (plug the USB cable in after booting into fastboot) by issuing the following command from the folder with fastboot in it:
Code:
fastboot devices
Let me know when you get there and what the results are.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
After you issue the fastboot devices command, you should get your phone's serial number back indicating that your computer and phone are talking. Then you need to download this recovery and this hboot. Copy both those files over to the folder that has "fastboot.exe". Back at the command prompt issue the following commands:
Code:
fastboot flash hboot hboot-1.33.0013d.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
That should reboot the phone back into the bootloader and you should now have the 1.33.0013d SPL. You can then boot the phone into recovery mode and flash Yoshi.
I installed fastboot and was able to see my device.
HT96XLV04762 fastboot
But was unable to flash the 2 files.
error: cannot load 'hboot-1.33.0013d.img'
error: cannot load 'recevery.img'
After playing around a bit i was able to get to recovery mode by pressing power+home. I did a nandroid restore but still could not get passed the green screen...

That's because your nandroid probably isn't cool with the SPL. Did you copy the files to the same folder fastboot is in?

Yes fastboot is in C:\android and the files are in the same directory.

That was just a typo on my previous posting. Am I supposed to rename them though?

No. Download them and put them in the folder again. If you have the newest version of SDK the folder should be \AndroidSDK\tools.

It worked. I download a new version and was able to replace the SPL file. Thank you!
I was able to flash ginger yoshi but now only has H connection instead of 3G?
There were these errors when flashing in recovery mode:
E: Missing bitmap progress_empty (Code-1)
E: Missing bitmap progress_fill (Code-1)
choice: error fixed, please ignore
Does these errors have anything to do with why I no longer have 3G?
H stands for HSDPA which is enhanced 3g. Ginger Yoshi ditinguishes between regular 3g and HSDPA. So it's a good thing you have H instead of 3g. For more detais you could google HSDPA.
I was just reading out that on Google. Thanks for the quick reply. Do I need to worry about the missing bitmap error?
Nope because "choice: error fixed, please ignore"

[Q] Magic - Fastboot: FAILED (remote: not allowed)

Hi there,
I'd like to update to a newer Android Version. So as I read I have to flash a new recovery first. I tried to create a gold card in order to flash this new recovery but I still get an error when I use fastboot.
I read several tutorials and threads in this forum but i couldn't find the right answer. I hope someone can help me.
Is there a problem with a "ScanDisk" gold card...?

You said you have a Goldcard already, right?
Also, only do this if your Magic is a 32B. If it's a 32A, you're bricked for life (and I'm not responsible). It says on the fastboot screen which you are.
If it is a 32B, get the first download from the NBH/ZIP section of this thread <a href=http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548218>here</a> (Make sure to read the warnings at the top) and put it on your normal SD card.
Then, boot into HBOOT mode by either
1. Booting into Fastboot mode and pushing volume down.
2. Booting phone with volume down pressed.
It should find the sappimg after a minute. If not, make sure the sappimg is on the SD card not in any folders and also that it's named SAPPIMG.zip.
Choose yes to all the questions. If it has an error, reboot and try again or try it on a Goldcard.
Now fastboot should work and you can do whatever.

1.33.0013 is perfected SPL, remote commands are disabled in this hboot.
If you have custom recovery (AmonRa or Clockworkmod), then you are lucky.
If not, then you must install official ROM: 3.12.531.1 T-Mobile USA FRG83D
http://www.4shared.com/file/j64ygA9t/RUU_Sapphire_T-Mobile_US_31253.html
After that, you can root phone with SuperOneClick, then install custom recovery, and custom rom (via custom recovery)
I already rooted using superone click but my phone wont boot after I tried to flash a rom how do I get it to boot up and work again I'm freaking out oh an I have clockwork recorvery image that's how I tried to flash the rom but i dont have a goldcard can i still use the same method can u give me a walk through or is there a way using clockwork mod

If you have custom recovery - just flash custom rom via it.
P.s. but choose appropriate rom (with tags 32b)
