1. Rename to update.zip
2. Place on root directory of sdcard (directory that pops up when you mass storage your device to computer)
3. Boot into stock recovery (Vol Down+Camera+Power)

Just rename it update.zip and place it in the root of your sd card. Hold vol up an vol down, camera, and power to get into recovery and apply update.

I'm a bit confused.. whats the difference between CWM and Stock recovery.. (Volume down+camera+power).. thats how you would boot into CWM(purple, orange, etc...)
you can use this to return to stock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027904&highlight=rerfs
and just use the purple cwm to apply the update
make sure you rename it to Recovery.zip and place in the root of sd card

Yes, it'll work.
OK, so now how do we root this thing?
Will having root interfere with this update? I am fully stock otherwise (no custom kernels, roms, modems, etc).

How to do the update is in the Cyanogen post where you download the frigging ROM.
Official update patch zip
If you are on a completely stock ERD79 device (including stock recovery image), you can use the official ERE27 update (this is the same as the OTA update). Just download it, put it on the SD card named update.zip, launch recovery (power on with volume down held), press power and volume up when the warning triangle icon appears then select 'apply update.zip'. Sorted

I tested this out with both the transformer and slider. No need to do anything complicated.
ASSUMPTION:
You have CWM installed.
INSTRUCTION:
(1) Download the latest firmware from asus website.http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=20&s=16&m=Eee%20Pad%20Transformer%20TF101&os=32
(2) Unzip it. Inside, you should find another zip file. Place that zip file on your micro sdcard.
(3) Plug in your micro sdcard. Go into CWM.
(4) Wipe data/ factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe davik cache.
(5) Flash in the zip file you just got from the asus website.
(6) Once restarted, you will be back on non-rooted stock rom and stock recovery.

Download and install this app. Run the app and grant superuser access. Then flash the custom recovery. This will install cwm recovery. Then go to the development section and browse the custom roms. Download the rom of your choice, place on sd card, boot into recovery (shut down, then hold the volume down key and power key, then when prompted on screen, press the volume up key) Before flashing a new rom, u will want to do a full wipe first. (back up any needed data first) You will want to install from zip file. Choose the rom you downloaded, and now you have a custom rom installed.

Hello, I followed the root guide in this forum, it was successful, then I tried to change the LCD density to 240 and the mobile refused to boot!!
I am downloading a firmware from sammobile.com but still have no idea how to do it! should I use Odin or Kies?
Switch off your Note 3.
Put it in Download Mode (Home Button + VolDown + Power), then press VolUp to confirm.
Plug USB cable to Note 3 and computer.
Start Odin, on the left, you'll see a yellow square with "Com.xx", that's confirm your Note 3 is recognized by Odin.
Extract the archive you dlded from Sammobile, Samfirmware... You must have now a .tar or .tar.md5 file
Put it in the PDA field of Odin
Press Start
Wait until reboot

I think better to have a look to script of estore zip, what restore file does do. bcoz if that packed with some files which is not from this device than it won't work. If previous file which he flashed have script to make backup and restore.zip have script to restore same thing then only it will work.

Ok good news is that you can restore fom that zip, bad news is you need SD card, if you can manage that then it's easy.
otherwise
If you knoe adb, you can push file with to sdcard with adb command.
OR
simply flash stock ROM, that won't erase your data but you need to reroot.
Do you have internet access on PC?

Okay I got my phone working. I used adb pusher app , found it on xda. Simple to use.
But now my wifi is not working. Its stuck on turning on.
I did a little searching , the issue was solved by flashing a custom kernel.
Can I do that on a stock rom like mine. And which kernel will work with note 3?
There is no custom kernel available in my knowledge on your device.
Make backup and try wiping device otherwise flash stock rom.
And don't flash any other device component on your, you may soft brick your device.

Hi guys. Today after flashing twrp using Odin everything was fine. I went to the recovery mode to see whether it was properly flashed. It was installed properly and on exiting I saw that it it showed that my phone is not rooted and and I need to swipe to install it (though my phone was already rooted and supersu installed) . I switched on my phone and uninstalled supersu. Then I again went to the recovery mode and I swiped on the option to install supersu. But when the process was going on it somehow stopped (maybe I did it without my knowledge). Now I am not able to switch on my phone (I think it got bricked). ??? If I try to switch on it gets stuck in the Samsung icon and restarts from there again
What will I do now?
I had faced this problem.
