[Q] how do i backup my stock firmware. - Vega General

getting a vega today and since there are so many problems for warranty ect. i think its a good idea to back up my stock firmware BEFORE i install vegacomb + honeyice.
how do i do a full backup of stock BEFORE modding???

No real need as stock firmware is downloadable from www.myadventvega.co.uk. Otherwise check out how to install ClockworkMod and there is an excellent backup / restore in that which takes a full image.

Recover warranty -step to do before install any rom or kernel-

Hi Everyone
I will try to explain you how can get a full backup of your device before to install any rom or kernel in your device N7000.
theses are the steps:
1.- you have to root your device using SuperOneClick (why SuperOneClick? because it is the more simple app to root and unroot your device)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357828
2.- after you have root, install ktool, this tool is to make a full backup of your stock kernel.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wxLDEsIm5ldC5oZWxsY2F0LmRyb2lkZGV2Lmt0b29sIl0.
3.- install cwm to make a full backup of your device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784
now, you have all things to come back your devices as stock rom using the same step started from the step 3 to 1 and finally unistall ktool
if your are from mexico telcel you can follow this page to restore the full telcel rom and after do everthing use ktool to restore the stock kernel whit the stock recovery to get back your warranty
http://androidmx.net/2012/03/rom-original-telcel-para-el-galaxy-note/
I attach the stock kernel of telcel n7000, you can use ktool to restore it
the kernel is 2.6.35.7-N7000UBKJ8-CL684892 [email protected] #2
Good lock
It is better to add [Telcel] prefix in title, as I think you have mentioned recovery is for that only, isn't?
This may be helpful when telcel stock ROM, not available on routine.
For rest of, just flashing stock rom is enough to revert back.

Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878 flash one of these roms and you are full stock. Pick the ICS rom if you want ( decrypt it with decrypted if needed , see the same post) put the update zip on your tablet flash it with cwm.
Your root will be gone , recovery will be stock and you will have stock ICS bootloader.
Why you want that is beyond me, but you can also flash full stock full root if you want a full stock rom but still have the liberty to do what you want.

[Q] what is currently the best way to root i9505?

Hi, i am in the uk and had my i9505 for around 2 weeks, just wondering the best way to now root and is there anyway which is the safest / recommended?
also, can rom's still be updated afterwards via ota or kies if i root, i know i would have to root again but would my phone still be supported by kies and look for new fw's after rooting?
thanks
james
Personally, I use the pre-rooted stock roms in the Android Development section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
Very easy to use, just download and flash via Odin3. There may be easier ways, but for me this is the easiest.
All you need to do then is flash custom recovery and you're done.
Edit: Not sure about Kies, but it's easy enough to flash back to a stock rom and then reset your phone to Official again.
Some custom roms offer OTA updates, but personally, I prefer just staying on a stock rooted and update via Odin as and when needed
Thanks for the reply, if I flash the pre rooted Rom will it wipe my phone or will settings and apps still be the same afterwards?

If you install pre rooted rom, all your apps, settings etc will remain. Odin3 doesn't touch the data partition, so you'll still have everything.
I usually clear cache/data after installing a new rom, so I start from fresh, but it's really upto you really
One thing to be aware of though is that flashing a pre-rooted rom will clear your custom recovery, so you'll have to reflash recovery after installing an updated pre-rooted rom

Well did you keep ANY KIND FORM OF BACK UP TO RESTORE BEFORE GOING TO LOLLIPOP?
If not,
1. Returning to stock will bring you back to Stock KitKat ROM.
2. Back up your data and pictures to the cloud or Hard Drive.
3. Download your .kdz file using your IMEI from www.lg-firmware-rom.com
4. Like @raulx222 said, Return to Stock Firmware.
5. CREATE A NANDROID BACKUP.
6. Install your desired custom KitKat ROM.
Give more info please. When you flashed lollipop, which ROM you flashed? you flashed other files too?
Anyway, flashing the stock firmware is almost any time a way to solve the issues ..You could backup your files from TWRP via MTP and then flash the stock firmware. You also can backup your files with TWRP using a usb flash stick and a OTG cable.
restore to kitkat
Hello just flash this attached file in recovery. After that flash jb bootloader for d802 and baseband and recovery you use for roms you use. Everything will work
Btw the zip contains stock kk 20H partitions you need to restore. Simplerom to work on lollipop modify this partiton on your device to be as f320 model in some areas to get lollipop booting
Tell me did you make it boot

Question about Stock Firmware Flash to restore GPS, then CM11 Flash

Hi all,
Just a quick question that I hope should be an easy one.
I've been using CM11 on my Samsung GS4 for about 2 years. Love it. Updated to the most recent nightly etc. Pretty okay with flashing and things, but since I flashed CM11 originally I lost my GPS, which at the time was fine. Didn't really care.
Now Pokemon Go has come out I want to sort my GPS out. So I looked a few things up and people say that Stock Firmware Flash fixes it. I've backed up my apps with Titanium and made a backup on my SD card of the current CM11 version I'm running so everything is fine.
My question is; Will flashing the Stock Rom actually fix the GPS? Can I flash the Stock Rom via recovery, or do I need to use Odin and then reroot? Will it retain root? If I get a fix with the Stock Rom, should I just reboot into recovery and flash the nightly I'm on right now, or can I recover my backed up file from recovery?
I hope this all makes sense and this should be a pretty simple yes/no answer.
Thanks in advance
