[Q]Bricked hd2?[Q] - HD2 General

i recently tried to restore my hd2s and i used this program >_HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.66.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship
to return it to stock it went all the way thru but when i went to turn my phone on nothing shows up at all i now it's now the battery because my computer still recognize my phone when i plug it in i tried holding the volume down and power to see if it would boot into bootloader no luck at all both of my hd2 are tmobile branded and i know i should have read more before just flashing anything. I am going to send my phone away for jtag repair but i wanted to see if any1 could help me first as this happen to both of my hd2s

Yea its bricked, tmous will ONLY take tmous stock roms. Its the radio that kills it, and you picked the correct next course of action,,, JTAG is the only fix, short of replacing the mainboard.

ok thank you do you happen to know a place to get it done cheaply ?

ROM or the motherboard ?

I attemted to flash my Kjam to WM6 & it went dead. It wont start at all. Kjam Service centre says there is a problem in the mother board and it needs to be replaced for $ 300+........now if flash fails...the ROM must have gone corrupt , what has it to do with the motherboard ?
can anyone throw light on whats the real thing ?
Deven.
take out the battery for hours then re-install it. try to boot in bootloader mode first(3 colors). If it work, it's the time to re-flash the right rom now!
When you start the device up what happens?
Same Problem accured for me!!!!!!!
I installeda new rom and my device didn't power on after that.
What should i do now?

Nobody here is providing any details so everything is going to be just a guess. If either of these phones were a G4 and you flashed a rom that tried to update the IPL/SPL then its very likely you have bricked your device. But again, with no information about what rom you were trying to flash, what your IPL/SPL were beforehand, or details about what it means that it won't turn on, everything is just a guess...
Bricked Kjam
its comletely dead.....i had disconnected the battery for a couple of days then connected it but it wont start....i checked the battery using multimeter it is fully charged....neither does it power ON when connected to mains...It doesnt get detected when connected to the USB port..thats obvious since it is not powering up...so cant flash it again.. now m in a fix as to whether to spend another fortune after this sweetheart or keep it in a showcase ....

If nothing lights up that looks pretty terminal. :-(
Maybe you could buy a broken Wizard with a working motherboard? Alternatively maybe sell off your mostly working Wizard on this forum to raise money to buy a new device?
Sorry if you can't get it going. :-(

Bricked Tytn

I had a BSOD on my laptop during a radio flash and was left with a phone that got stuck on boot screen, with NO GSM on the display and no KTIL possibilities. Sent it back to Brightpoint (HTC contracted repair shop) and they wanted 350 euros to replace the system board.
So before i sell as scrap on ebay - i wanted to check that i hadnt missed any miracle cure that may have been found.
Thx
try having a look in the Upgrading forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=306
am sure there are a few unbrick topics there, think i remember seening some in there once
try here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=325018&highlight=No+gsm*
Thanks for the reply - have tried pretty much everything. My main issue is not having KITL

Are you on Hard-SPL ? Could you use PC to access the Hermes ? If so, try the method to flash the ROM with a memory card method.
Good luck
Memory card flash
Thanks QQ88 - I will give it ago when I get the phone back!
If that doesnt work is there anyone with serious phone skills (thinking of pof-a-likes here) wants to earn 100 euro to help get this phone back to life then PM me.
I''ll give this a shot.

This is a tricky one but I believe that you can use the same flash file that you were using and just try this:
You should know your SPL version before going too far with this. Hopefully you can get that info by trying to boot it and if it can get to the very first splash screen with the red text, it should show it there.
Turn on the phone and let it try to boot ... Hold down the Power and OK buttons at the same time and while holding those buttons down, hit the reset button at the bottom of the phone and you should then be given the multi-color weird screen that's given right before the flash. Then, connect it via USB. Load up the flash software and it should ask you which version you're running of the SPL, select it and then click next. Auto-detect won't work if I remember correctly. Then just push forward and it should go through.
If all else fails, look up Mr. Vanx's information ... he's quoted all over this site and has his own site that has a LOT of information about bricked hermes phones.
GOOD LUCK! I hope it works.
Had a similar problem last week. Download the ROM at the top of the link below and it should unbrick your phone. It worked for me
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Unbrick
Good Luck
Thank you to all that gave their input. Can confirm that I have tried all methods incl. SD flashing but due to corrupt CID and SPL 1.09 it is time to wave the white flag and give up.
Will keep up with the threads to see if anyone manages to find a way to resurrect TyTns with corrupt CID and SPL 1.09

Updating Radio on Hero now it won't turn on!!!

I was going to install the new MoNaCo Rom but I did the radio update first after I install the update my phone looked like it was going to reset, it turned off and never came back on. My battery was fully charged and I just can't seem to get it back on. I pressed the power/home buttons and that doesn't turn it on either HELP!!! Is there anyway I could do a hard reset or anything I can do to get it to at least power up?
Did you make wipe before update to the new radio?

I suppose you have a GSM HERO and flashed it with a GSM Radio, right? If not (CDMA phone/GSM Radio or vice-versa) and it doesent boot up after taking out/reinserting the battery multiple times then it's bricked for good at this stage IMHO. JTAG should help, provided someone had documented the procedure for the GSM HTC HERO. Btw, it's MoDaCo, not MoNaCo

There's no requirement to wipe before flashing a new radio, as the "wipe" doesn't effect the radio part of the ROM.

Dave

You diddnt answer about which hero you have, cdma or gsm? and which radio did you use.
you probably pulled the battery out during the procedure. when flashing, you do a reboot after the recovery tells you to and you leave it for around 20 minutes and it will boot up completely. you should never interupt it during this 20 minutes
hi
i'm new here, and i have almost the same problem exposed 2 years ago here. i have updated the firmware of my hero gsm and all was good, but one i updated tne radio rom, the hero doesen't want to work, it boots but stops on the first screen. i pressed lots of time on home/back and power, it boots normally but stop at the first screen, as if the back button doesn't work, but two days ago, alla the buttons were working.
i hope you will show me a solution other than gtag for the moment.
thanks
should i do this post in an other subjet?
if you flash the wrong radio,it must broken ,can you enter fastboot? if you can't enter, you have to use jtag to fix it
I can JTAG the HERO and I'm in Texas if anyone needs help with these.
HI
Thank you for the answer, zhaominghao,
no, the fast boot is inaccessible. And concerning the Jtag, i gave the phone to some one to reapre it with it, but he told me that there is problems of connectors. is this true or there is annother reason? i dont really know, i hope i was able to try the jtag my self, but i dont have the device jtag. i hope i wil found a solution.
thank you again.
If you can't get into recovery to attempt a reflash then JTAG is the only option and if the shop said it can't be done... time for a new hero
If the phone has damaged JTAG points then it's a loss. If they are intact then it's fixable with JTAG.

[Q] Bricked phone after task29 and rom flashing

Hello. First I want to thank all of you who develop roms and the like. I have had such a blast over the past month and a half customizing my phone in ways I never thought possible. Last night I ran flashaholicruu.exe on my HTC HD2 Leo. The task29 seemed to work properly, however when I attempted to flash the rom I received errors. I tried Leo_Radio_2.11.50.26.sfx, which had previously worked on my phone. It stopped at 96%. I did the recovery, however the phone now will not even boot the splash screen. It simply vibrates non-stop when I turn it on until I remove the battery. Does anyone have ANY advice at all? Am I able to load a ROM onto the SD card and directly boot from it while my phone is in this state?
I have removed the battery and reinserted it. Did not work.
I have also tried pressing the volume buttons and the power on button to get the bootloader, but just vibrates in the same manner as when I press on button.
Please help!
Thank you

Ahh. I wish. T-Mobile is giving me a hard time about replacing it because I was not the original owner of the phone. The phone is only about 3-4 months old though.
I had this happen to me.
Try to load it directly into bootloader by holding vol-down when you press power button, then flash another radio (i recommend 2.12.5) then try another ROM thru RUU.
Also, make sure your battery is place in there securely and that all 3 pins from the phone are sticking out.
I had a situation where one of the pins was sticking vertically and the battery was only hitting 2 (from doing too many battery pulls) and it did this weird vibrate splash screen boot sequence.

You'll need contact details for the original owner, but by law they have to honor the agreement they put in place with them, regardless of whether you are that person or not.
Just get back onto T-Mobile and if they say no then speak to someone higher up. I know this to be the case after selling a palm pre to someone at the beginning of the year and it died on him shortly after.

Really? This is good to know. I contacted the original owner. I feel so bad and I hope he doesn't think I am trying to scam him. I just want a working phone and I think that T-Mobile should honor that.

I think the bootloader may be gone. Does the task29 remove this? I can't get even to the bootloader using the method above (I have tried many times).

Good to know, I will try this. I do have some bent pins.
No task 29 doesn't remove the bootloader, I always use it before flashing a new ROM...
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
copy the nbh file from the stock rom to the sd card..that usually fix it..

he needs to rename the .nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh and pair it with the RUU that came
with that same stock ROM
but then again, if he cant get into bootloader, the phone is definitely bricked

What exactly did you do to try and enter bootloader mode? You said you pressed the volume 'buttons' and the power button but that combination would initiate a Hard Reset and not bootloader mode..
How to get into your Bootloader
1. Turn your phone off
2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN then Press and hold the POWER button. After about 3 seconds the tri-coloured screen should appear.
3. To exit Bootloader you need to remove your back cover and pull the battery out for a few seconds, then replace it and press the power button to reboot your phone.
If you cannot get into the bootloader with the above instructions then it looks like you have bricked your device somehow but im not sure exactly how you could do it as task29 doesnt touch HardSPL.
If you can get into bootloader then you can flash a rom back to your device using the sd card method in my guide *HERE*.
Mark.

[Q] Bricked HD2

Any advise or help would be appreciated. My hd2 will not boot. Gets stuck on the the white htc screen. Tried flashing standard rom and Android. They all say succesful then when I boot it stops. Even tried loading it from the SD
Even stuck it into the local phone shop, took a week to tell me its f*** not sure if they knew what they were doing.
Anybody know anywhere that specialises in them.
did u check ur hspl??
Hi, I have reurned it back to stock by flashing the std rom.
Then flashed HSPL. MAGDLR and radio, still no joy.
Then flashed back the standard rom. Still the HTC screen

Do you happen to know what radio you have? As what you are experiencing is sometimes called a stuck radio. Also has your HD2 been getting warmer thaan usual?
its not bricked. people really should learn that term, a bricked phone wont turn on

I agree the word bricked gets used way too much here. If the phone will turn on and start to boot up or if you can still access the default multicolor bootloader the HD2 is not bricked and in all likely hood can be fixed via software adjustments. If the HD2 will not give you access to the multicolor bootloader then it is bricked and will need a JTAG or the mainboard replaced.
I have got to admit though it has been a rash of people posting here for the last month or so with the exact problem the OP has of the HD2 getting stuck at the HTC screen. Some or a result of thermal breakdown of the connections between the CPU and the main board, but these people should know this is their problem as their HD2 will get very warm or hot to the touch around the area of the mainboard.
