I was just wondering from anyone that is familiar with computers and windows and networks how is it that my PC had pictures that were only on my phone?
Story
Formatted hard drive because of problems. Installed windows again. I then took the hard drive back out and connected it to my other PC because I learned how to recover my thousands of pictures after formatting. Here is the weird part. I am finding pictures that have never left my phone unless they were texted to my wife but she has here own laptop and toesnt touch my PC.

Many, many ways this could happen. You say the pics were on another computer. If there was any kind of network between the two, there are many ways the pics could have gotten transferred. And not to mention, just by connecting the evo to a computer, any number of software programs could have easily transferred the files without you knowing.
That's kinda what I was thinking. I do charge it from the computer and my wife never charges her shift from the computer but there both on network. Its gotta be from charging it. Hmm. That could be dangerous lol

This is when I put my phone into mass storage.
My phone is taking forever to be recognized by my Windows 7 computer, my laptop recognizes it right away, I am using my front USB ports and have tried the back one even. Also, I have installed drivers and un-installed them, I have also done everything under the sun to try and get it to sync better. But alas it takes a while for my desktop to recognize that I have put my phone into mass storage. It is really bugging me, I am also using the stock cable that came with the phone and have even installed the official drivers. But to no avail.
My windows 7 laptop recognizes it fine

I am not blaming the phone at all. I am just trying to understand why this phone doesn't mount and my Hero did fine and does fine on the same port. How can I not say maybe its the phone...
Lol well maybe its the usb like I was saying. Or maybe it just doesn't like the micro usb??

Very very possible my good sir. I will keep trying different ports!
EDIIITTT AND UPDATE!
I AM GETTING AN I/O device error.
Try reformatting the card... Use a card reader to pull your data off first..
You could also have a defect on your device, but I'd test it in a different computer before concluding its the phone..

It is definatetly not a device defect for I have a samsung laptop with Windows 7 home premium 64 bit and it recognizes right away. Also, I find that if I enable mass storage the computer reads it (my desktop) but it just takes a while to. I will jsut have to be patient I guess. lol
I'm having the same problem...I've tried both sets of drivers.

Very few defects exist across ALL the epic phones.. I was suggesting it could be a defect with that specific phone, but that conclusion should only be reached after further testing..
I had trouble with my Win 7 64bit laptop when I first tried to connect it. I switched to the usb port on the other side of the lappie and it recognized instantly. There seems to be a bug in Win 7 and how it recognizes the Epic on certain ports. My Blackberry worked fine in all ports. I did install the 64 bit drivers and still had problems with that port.
ANy idea why this might be happening>?
Let me consult my tea leaves...
Nope. Sorry, I don't see anything there.
Could you provide a little more information?
Let's assume that both phones are in Download mode.
Let's also assume that you've restarted Odin each time a separate phone is plugged into the USB cable, instead of having the same Odin process try to talk to the 2 separate phones.
Let's assume it's the same USB cable, same port, same computer, and same drivers.
All you assumed is correct and I still cannot connect the other phone to odin. It won't recognise it. It does see mine right away though

Start simple, Windows sees both phones when you plug them into the USB cable?
I do one at a time

There is no fix for this, it works when it wants to on win 7 64bit. I can't get mine to work until I try every usb port on a small hub I got. I've tried offical drivers, unoffical, viper team drivers it just sucks. Only time I've had it work at go was when I braught odin and the one click to the campus and did it on a vista machine. All I can say is, reinstall the driver buy a small usb hub and plug and pray

Well, as the title states, i have "bad sectors" on my Internal HDD.
I'm going to Restore System via MOTOCAST and hope that helps.
Anyone else with similar issues?
Bad sectors are a physical flaw. Sometimes a sign of impending disk failure bot not always. I have a pc drive with bad sectors out of the box, still going strong after 2 years.
I'd try and get the phone replaced.

Where did he mention cm7?/
In my case, bad sectors= bad news. My hard disk died because of that.
If you can get the handset replaced, don't waste anymore time else it might/will become unusable.

Thanks, am in the process of getting my 20 day old Atrix serviced. Or should I DEMAND a replacement as I've no idea whether they'll just "reset" the HDD?
after all the BAD SECTORS warning only popped out once... How can I tell if it's truly buggered?

What are you using specifically to detect disk corruptions? I'm not particularly familiar with Windows... is it a builtin tool?
Ideally you'd ask them to check for disk corruptions, but REALISTICALLY they'll usually check if its bricked or blatantly damaged... and if not send it back to you untouched. This has been my experience over the years.
So in short, never hesitate on a replacement. Your data isn't of much concern to Jow Bloe, tech specialist 17447-b.
(No slight intended toward the folks in this industry, just being practical.)

After connecting via USB, both internal & SD memory usually gets detected by Windows.
You have the option to sync pics/data/view files (plus installed MotoCast PC pops up).
This time i got a warning 'MB860 contains BAD SECTORS. Run checkdisk to fix problem'.
After i did the 'Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors' the device seems OK...
but i get all kinds of horror stories on the net..

That doesn't sound like a genuine Windows error to me. There is a nasty bit of spyware that is going round that does that exact error, or very similar wording.
The only way you'll know that if it genuinely does have bad sectors is by scanning the memory (sdcard/sdcard-ext), or looking in the event viewer for disk errors saying that the memory has a bad block.
Windows often pops up a "Scan and fix" window if you remove the drive (sdcard/sdcard-ext) while its working, or stick it in XP and then plug it back into 7.
Can you post a screen shot?
It hasn't happened for 6 days. It is most noticable when you use USB MotoCast and backup internal HDD.
Just like any HDD,once corrupted,takes AGES to transfer small amounts of data. (I.e 5min for the ˝final 1% / 1sec" ).
The error message is "Windows has encountered an error with your disk. The drive contains BAD SECTORS and needs to be fixed in order to continue. 1.Scan for file errors. 2.Search and fix bad sectors." Or something along those lines.
Quite upsetting!

Already installed drivers for the N4? Using correct data cable?
Even tried wireless solutions as air droid?
But before you do all these things, is your N4 visible in your pc- explorer?
For further questions just contact me. I'm willing to support you.
Try rebooting. That's what fixed it for me lol. You could also try changing USB Storage mode to PTP or MTP from whatever it's on now.

That sounds awesome! but I guess you have to leave your computer ON all night, ain't that right?
I just use ES File Explorer and just transfer them to my Windows shared folder on my network. I rarely use USB cables to transfer files at home unless they're massive.

I connect mine all the time to my windows 7 PC. You have to remember that it connects as an MTP device so it doesn't get assigned a drive letter but it should show up as a device that you can explore.
I use Windows 8 and I use the USB to transfere files between the SD Card and the Laptop.
Connect your phone up to pc while booted into android. Now check your PC's device manager for a failed mtp entry.
If you find one I'll tell you how to fix it.
