Looking for a Sence ROM which works and is lightweight for the HTC Wildfire (not the S)
Anybody got any suggestions?
Thanks
I ´m also looking for a lightweight Sense Rom.
It does not matter if is Froyo or Gingerbread.
It must be light (have olny essential Apps like BT, Telephone,SMS,Keyboard)
and quick.
I use Jokerdroid 4.3.1 but i think you (I mean the members of this cool forum), know much better sense roms.
HTC Hybrid:

ImPros v1.2:

You can't term the other ROMs "lightweight" since they carry the full Sense feature set.
I think I'm giving up with sense just lightweight now!

In that case, you have a ton of options in AOSP. The most popular, of course, would be Cyanogenmod 7 (Gingerbread)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1143125
Cyanogenmod 6 (Froyo)

Complete ROM List:

Hopefully you get a ROM which suits you. Good Luck.

Why don't you just try them and decide for yourself ? Find one there cover your needs instead of making yet another "best rom thread"!

Hear, hear.
It depends entirely what you want out of your rom.
Broadly, there are a few types of rom:
AOSP - Good example is CyanogenMod. Very stable, very fast. Based off AOSP 1.6 (Donut)
Hero-based - until recently, if you wanted a Sense UI (aka Rosie) on your android, you'd use a hero based rom.
Sense-based - Hofo Community rom is an example of this. Runs Cupcake (1.5) rather than Donut (1.6) though.
Ion-based - nk02 / Amon RA have done roms based off the Ion releases - damn fast, none of the bloat of hero/sense, and pretty good, although not updated very often (because they don't need to be).
If you're after a good, fast, general rom, then its hard to beat CM.
Hofo is probably my next choice, if you like sense.
If you want a no-nonsense, bare bones, screaming fast son-of-a-***** ROM, go an Ion based one.
Otherwise, try the roms yourself and get an idea of what you like.
Cyanogen hands down.
Thanks for the help =)

I like this talk. And I love RA's ION ROM.
When Mike update his base for the ARHD rom, a lot of feature/mods needed to be be updated. like themes etc.
I asked a theme developer to update his theme and he asked me why should he still be udating sense 2.1 when theres already a sense 3.
I thought of that, even though we dont have an official sense 3 release for DHD, but most dev have achieved a stable sense 3 roms for DHD.
I can easily swap roms, but am a good fan of mike1986 and would like to make a request for a sense 3 based ARHD. since everyone is flashing sense 3 mods, we can all as well beg for a sense 3 rom.
i understand its a challenging request to make but i started this thread to ask other intrested users to support me. please vote
and hope mike and his team would put this into consideration
hit thanks if u like the idea
the idea is to keep this close to stock and as stable as possible. i'd rather have a reliable rom that functions properly than a bunch of flare that causes issues. mike and team have provided the proper OPTIONS to add these elements to the rom if one chooses to do so.
I'd say that's a rather bad idea, since Sense 3.0 was never designed for this device, is still unstable and certainly slower.
ARHD is not one of the experimental ROMs, it stands for stability and performance.

Sense 3 sucks. It doesn't matter what you say it slows the device down. The only way ARHD should move to Sense 3 is if there is an official update from HTC with Sense 3 included. Otherwise it is Sense 2.1 all the way baby!
I beg to differ. Im on virtuous unity, and its stable as hell! What is this criticism based on? U say this and that bout sense 3, but have u tried a sense 3 rom?

Sense 3.0 is designed for phones with a dual-core processor, no?

designed, mike can design it to work on any cpu, thats why he is the best, thats why this request.
even if there is no switch, he can still make a new rom, to add to his catalogue of roms
Like others have pointed out, the concept behind ARHD is to keep visual stock and to improve the performance etc. If you would like sense 3 goodness, flash the addons or simply move to another rom.

mike has already answered this!
he WILL move to a sense 3 base ONCE HTC RELEASE AND OFFICAL DHD SENSE 3 UPDATE
until then he wants to stick to a non ported offical base, who can blame him! it runs so slick!
at the end of the day its his personal time that is taken up developing arhd for us, and this is why we like it so much! if you dont then move to a ported sense 3 rom
arhd is one of the best roms. i would suggest to keep one as close to stock as possible and one seperate arhd rom with sense 3.0, so once its perferct we can all flash
i agree unity rom are really niice !!

No. Sense 3.0 was released on phones that have dual core processors, but it really doesn't make a difference. All of the Sense 3.0 stuff, I bet, will be mostly running off a single core.
It's just a matter of porting and optimising for the DHD.
As to whether or not ARHD should move to Sense 3.0, no. The whole point is that it's a ROM that runs off of the latest stock base. It is supposed to feel stock, work like it's stock, and run reliably like it's stock. Because for the most part, it is stock.
If you want Sense 3.0, you have two choices already, RCMix3D and Virtuous Unity.
I am also an ARHD fan but now im using Virtuous Unity, its stable, ok not as stable as ARHD but its sense 3...
sense 3.0 is cool but ARHD is maded for ver2.1 and this step may cause troubles...

The point of add-ons is the freedom of choice which one, and when to use them!! I would say ...
Sorry... you guys missed one feature difference -> DOLBY..
I bought this phone mainly for Dolby + HTC
Sense 3 dosent support DOLBY so a no go from me...
Other than DOLBY sense 3 is a good ROM to be with DHD

Same here. Sense 2.1 all the way.
flashing the add-ons won't eat much time if you really want a Sense 3.0 feeling to your ARHD Rom...

This. This is what I have done. All you are missing out on without Sense 3.0 are widgets (only Photo Grid comes to mind), the camera with HDR (which you can use on the latest base without problems, though you are downgrading the framework doing that) and 3D homescreens (which by nature have a low frame rate).

Good Morining,
I'm new to the HTC world in general, just made the switch from the Epic 4G and looking forward to hit the ground runnning here.
I already have loaded the last update on my phone and got GB, root and all my apps up and running via stock UI.
Now I want to venture to the world of roms and I got much to read (I know) but just wanted a quick down to earth suggestion of what is the common used ROM here, like CM7? or any other good ones.
I don't care much of Sense or if its AOSP, I choose performance over that kind of stuff because there will always be a way to change the view. So any good well tested kernels or roms suggestions would be good.
Thank you to all in advance!
Actually, if you don't care about Sense, CM7 is a great ROM to run.
The main downside to the AOSP ROMs is that you can't use EPST (the dialer codes/update profile/PRL).
A lot of other people are running MikG (Sense), Synergy (Sense), MIUI (AOSP) or Deck's (AOSP).
I usually switch between CM7 nightlies, MikG and Salvage Mod myself.
Good Sense kernels for Gingerbread are Freedom and ChopSuey. Good AOSP kernels include Tiamat and Savaged-Zen.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the sugestions, I may opt for trying out the kernels first before the Rom, getting lazy with the wipe / reinstall apps right now, but I will check out the Rom threads and keep myself updated for when I'm ready to jump ship
Thanks once again!

I'm just curious, aren't you?.. is a poll..
I think it's interesting, waiting for more people to vote
Currently on Speedmachine v4 because I need a little stronger battery compared to GB roms, so voted for other. Otherwise it would be DeckedX.
The main problem here is that you can't change your vote, so when I flash a new rom i can't update :/

Anyway, it seems that this survey failed as long as I could not provide those "other" ROMs .. sorry
Very interesting thread.
I've currently hoped from Ligux 2.3.7 to heroine 2.1 sense.. The pure speed of this Rom is phenominal, I mean just when pulling down the status bar for example you really feel the smoothness.. and its actually in real time, so doesn't come down 5 seconds later. But yeah I've figured that I don't need android 2.3 or 2.2, all the upgrades are really unecessary for me personally. All I need is calls, text and whatsapp. If I needed games or web truthfully this phone would have been long gone by now.
I use the official CyanogenMod 6.1 release, with Flykernel 13 @264-576. Stable, battery life of 2-4 days, decent speed, vanilla Froyo.
Eclair wasn't really an option, I think it's quite behind the newer versions, I hate Sense and Gingerbread never run smoothly enough on Hero, so vanilla Froyo was the best compromise for me.
Why didn't I go with one of the local ROMs? Not to offend anyone, but most of the CM6 ROMs here are butchered, full of ugly themes and unnecessary changes. Show me one that runs better than my configuration and I'll be happy to change to it.
I'm using CyanogenMod 7 but i think i'll revert to some 2.2 rom like FroydVillain ot CM6, not sure yet
why don't have Elelinux-7.1-Hero-v3.6 Android 2.3.7 it is one of the best roms
Decked x ligux
Sent from my Hero using xda premium
I think if you looking at performance and stable Elelinux-7.1-Hero-v3.6 and cyanogenmod are the best choice for Htc Hero
Elelinux, last one (7.1 v3.6), not the light or the Custom version, just the standar one with the default kernel

usually sense roms aren't as stable and fast as cyanogen roms. but i personally feel rafdroid is a stable and smooth sense rom.
I am using BoxmaX 7.0 ROM based on Sense 3.5. Though it is slower than other lighter ROMs, I like it because it has a lot of customization that you tend to associate with CM ROMs.
