I must be doing something wrong.
I started with a 1.2 Nook Color. I flashed CM7.1 and Gapps from a CWR SD card. Got CM7 to load but had no status bar, and whenever I would try to go into CM7 settings it would force close. I tried reflashing CM7 2-3 more times, no dice.
So I reloaded 1.2 Nook OS. During the configuration, I couldn't get the keyboard to stay on the screen so I couldn't totally configure it.
Got myself a copy of Phiremod 7.1 and tried flashing this. Got it installed and tried to go to the phiremod settings and ....force close. Tried reflashing phiremod multiple times and still no dice. I get into the OS but I get no status bar and I can't adjust CM or Phiremod settings.
This is what I do
As suggested by a member of the forums:
boot into recovery
go into mounts & storage then format system
go into mounts & storage then format data (this is where it says format data failed)
wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache
flash phiremod
flash gapps
reboot...
Still no dice. After 6-8 installs I'm at my wits end. Please help.

Hello,
I have a problem with my NC. I am a CyanogenMod user so when CM7.1 RC1 came out I'd decided to install it.
Befor doing that I had CM 7.0.0. I had a problem with stable version 7.0.3 but I've restored my CM7.0.0 backup and continue to work with it.
So I've dowloaded 7.1 RC1 and intall it. After doing so only a Loadind screen appears at the NC and not CM was loaded successfully. So I've decided to create a bootable SD card - bootable-cwm-clockworkmod-version-3-2-0-1-recovery-sd-card. And to restore my last backup. Unfortunetly I couldn't finish the restore.
I don't know why but because I've had backups of my phone(N1) on the SD card I choose to restore some N1 backup on my NC. It was completed successfully.
It could boot properly with that restore so I've decide to wipe all cache and data and to install again CM 7.0.0. The install was completed successfully but after rebooting the NC was enable to start at all. Nor with a bootable SD card nor without it.
Any suggestions what to do? Another question I have is "Is NC have a JTag?" because I couldn't find any information about that.
Thanks in advance.
Your boot loader is screwed. The only way is to have a ClockworkMod sd card available, and wipe boot, system, data, cache, dalvik cache, battery stats. Everything, in other words. Then flash the latest CM7 Nightly.
Hello XDA,
A few days ago I installed HC V4 EMMC on my NC. Some apps stopped working so I used my CWM SD card to remove it and install CM7 instead. I factory reset and cleared the Dalvik cache, and then I installed the boot recovery repair zip.
Since then in both CM7 and Phiremod, I see this notification every few seconds, especially if I try to type:
"Process Android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly..."
What should I do to fix this? I have tried reflashing, clearing the cache, factory resetting, and none of them has helped.
Flash the latest nightly, vanilla. Don't restore your data.
I flashed nightly 150 and the lastest gapps from the wiki and had the same problem.
This never happened before I installed Honeycomb, in which I had several apps force close if I tried to open them.
I recently installed MIUI on my Nook Color. It boots up fine, but I immediately get a Force Close message that says "The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." I get this message every 10 - 20 seconds while using MIUI. The message always comes up when I attempt to input something with my onscreen keyboard. I get the same error with the 1.8.5 MIUI install as well. The details of my installation method are below...
1. Booted into ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.8 installed on an sd card.
2. Wiped Data / factory reset
3. Wiped Cache partition
4. Wiped Dalvik Cache
5. Installed MIUI 1.9.2 .zip (located on the sd card) file with ClockworkMod Recovery
6. Fixed Permissions with ClockworkMod Recovery
Am I missing any necessary steps?
Is there any way to fix the Force Close messages?
Regards,
Urhos
Sounds like what happened to me also. I did the install twice. Then figured WTF..reverted to Factory Reset to 1.2 and reinstalled from the ground up. Try that. Worked for me.
BTW make sure you use CWM 3.2.0.1
HTH
How would I go about reverting to Factory reset 1.2?
Hi
I'm running CM9 on my Nook I have 4-8 nightly installed. If I wanted to do a clean install (delete everything) in recovery do I just need to select wipe date/factory reset? Or do I go to Mounts and Storage and format specific mounts? Will I need to reinstall from an SD card or will clockworkmod recovery still be on the nook?
Also in older versions of CM9 under performance you could disable boot animation I no longer have that option. Is there another way to disable the boot animation?

To turn off boot animation, go to /data/property and create a text file named persist.sys.nobootanimation and put the value 1 in it. Set the permissions to match the permissions of the other files there.
A factory reset is all you need to do. That wipes data, cache, and any installed apps on SD. System gets wiped when you install the new ROM.
If you had CWM recovery on emmc already, it will still be there.
Hi Guys,
Currently i am running MIUI 2.4.20 GB 2.3.7 + ICS Multilanguage on my miletone 2 and i have tried to upgrade the ROM with Cynogen9 however nothing is happening. It's going through the process but after a reboot it is just booting back into MIUI.
Here are the steps i took (please note i tried both EU and CH based ROMS)
1) downloaded O.S and placed on SD Card
2) booted into recovery (CWM)
3) performed wipe cache partition
4) performed wipe data/factory reset
5 install zip from sd card and installed cynogen9
after this though nothing happens and it just boots back into MIUI. I tried several times with both EU and CH version and no luck.
I also even tried installing from sd card first then performing the cache wipe and data wipe and still no luck.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I tried lookin for some instructions on this however couldnt find anything.
Thanks

Try to boot into Recovery with the Reboot Menu of MIUI.
Hold the Power button -> Reboot -> Recovery and try to install the rom again.
