Why do they keep rebranding the gs series?
And they keep taking little features away like the led in the nexus s or the lower cam resolution in the galaxy nexus.
I hope google gives motorola or lg the next nexus. Id like htc, because they did the nexus 1 SO RIGHT, but with the direction they've been in since the n1, I don't tink that'd be a great idea.
They'll most likely pull a samsung and just slap a nexus moniker on their latest and greatest and take away sense and call it a day.
Google needs to put their hands on the nexs development because this is just stupid. The only reason to own a nexus is to hve the latest software. Wtf?
The nexus one made you want it for tehardware and software.
It was ahead of its time.
its still viable! The nexus s? LOL! **** was outdated the day it was announced.
Google needs to do something because the nexus line is losing its glamour.

All they did was "take away the led features and lower cam resolution"...
Big deal! Motorola doesn't have any leds on their devices I've seen! And if they have, oh well. That's the beauty of android. There's so many of them.
And just because it's 5 MP doesn't mean it's crappy quality at all. Megapixels don't mean a thing! Look at the Epic 4G. It has a 5 MP camera but it's a thousand times better than the Evo 4g or even the Evo 3d's "8 MP" camera.
Stop whining. The galaxy nexus is gonna be a great device still. And don't blame samsung for everything. Google helps too, you know. If they wanted an 8 MP camera to go with it, I'm sure they could've asked for it.
Only thing I don't like is lack of SD Card. I think OMAP4 is slower than Exynos too.

Yeah, but if there's a 32 GB version then I'm fine.
Also, remember that ICS is optimized for dual core, so it's definitely going to be fast nonetheless.
The Galaxy Nexus isn't amazing, no. But it brings the best android OS to date with a great phone to go with it.
All Nexus devices are built exactly to Google's specs.

Until the first time you break or brick your phone and lose everything on it. With an sd card you could just pull it out and restore your backup on your replacement.

magnets really have little if any effect on flash memory, so there's really no way to get in and wipe the internal storage on a broken unit, without tearing it apart and bridging the leads (not a good idea)
also a phone not having a sd slot makes it feel too much like an iphone, so i'll pass.. =P

Exact copy of the GSM Nexus S except for the CDMA/EVDO/WIMAX
Fromg the google blog:
It features a 4” Contour Display designed to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand and along the side of your face. It also features a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, front and rear facing cameras, 16GB of internal memory, and NFC (near field communication) hardware that lets you read information from everyday objects that have NFC tags.
In addition, today we’re excited to announce that Sprint customers will soon be able to take advantage of the full set of Google Voice features without changing or porting their number.

Because its a Google supported phone / Google dev phone. All software comes 100% from Google directly. Samsung doesn't touch the software. It will get almost all future updates until the hardware cant handle the software. The Nexus One, which is pretty damn old now, just recently got official Gingerbread, and will likely get Ice Cream.
Yea but what he meant is...
Thanks to the hardware similarities we wont be far behind them in updates so why pay all that money for basically the same phone w/o a keyboard when all these Beastly phones are about to be released it would be a waste to get hardware that is outdated by the time its even for sale 8)
I personally hate physical keyboards now. Mine is just wasted, unused bulk.
True Google software is worth it for me. Dual core CPU's aren't even close to being utilized in smartphones yet anyway. Not until apps/software are written to support them.
The Hummingbird can still hold its own.
Which one you think I should get? Mm I don't like Samsung but I hate to wait for updates I might go with the nexus s!

Because not everyone needs all the bells and whistles. The average consumer doesn't even know what a core is, let alone why they need two to (as they will describe it) "make a few calls, play a game maybe and shoot a couple of text messages."

I said before and I will say it again. The Nexus is not really an upgrade for us Evo users. Not IMHO. If I am going to get an upgrade it has to be just that...an upgrade. Not just slightly better. This. If I could survive another year with my Evo I could do so easily with the Nexus S. Seems pretty tempting. Might not be the most epic of upgrades ... and no LED notifications / removable storage is pretty silly in all honesty, but its a step up in other manners.

I don't see why you need to be insulting people who want to get a Nexus S 4G. It seems like a good phone for someone who wants to have the latest android releases immediately available to them. My wife is probably getting the Nexus S 4G as an upgrade from her HTC Hero. The main reason is that she loves CM7 on her Hero and I can't guarantee her CM7 (or future CM releases) on any other phone for sprint. You calling her stupid or in your words "nobody smart" is pretty ridiculous on multiple levels, but mostly because her reasons for getting the Nexus are sound.

The Nexus S 4G isn't really a step forward like the GSII or the EVO 3D will be. It would also be hard to leave the SAMOLED screen for Super LCD/TFT. Decisions...Decisions...
Been using a 3 years old Palm Pre and have been amazed at how it just works. The specs of the HP Pre 3 look to be pretty solid. I love how emails works correctly on the Pre. I hate the unreliability of email polling on Android in general.

as for the camera that is true, mp are marketing pretty much. software can make it look better than 99% of 8-12mp cameras out there. hahaha there is no sdcard slot? so many people didnt get the nexus s because of that. you'd think they would learn.. that is the same reason i didnt get the sensation because of low storage. i use my atrix as the same. most of it is music and games lol. which takes up a ton. how can a company make a entertainment device with low storage -_- unless it has like 64gb of storage i wont be happy with it. maybe 32 would be fine but still, im sure it will be expensive.
Am I wasting my time thinking AT&T will subsidize the version with their bands?

^^^very true....funny so many are whining about the Nexus being clocked at 1.2 instead of 1.5....5mp instead of 8mp. Like many have said...if you're not going to print any pics, MP doesn't matter at all. Im fine with these specs....ill wait and see if our Atrix recieve's the ICS update thru OTA or ROM, if not, hellos Nexus Prime

if our phone does not recieve ICS or CM doesnt make a port or whatever im leaving android for sure. im tired of having to switch a freaking device RIGHT after i buy it. WP7 is on the lead with actually updating their phones and crap and have good hardware requirements without fragmentation. i know that technology gets updated fast blah blah. its just crap what google does lol. i like the big leap they are taking, but they need to AT LEAST update ICS on all the dual core phones that have been released. that would be pretty sweet

Reported that all devices currently running Gingerbread will receive ICS... just a matter of when... remember, Moto has to put their Motoblur crap in it first.

Not receive. Support. IE their hardware is enough to run 4.0. There is 0 guarantee they will get ICS.

The biggest thing wrong with that video, "TWO HANDS!"
Even when that thing was in landscape, I couldn't tell if he was holding the Nexus or a PSP. (Although ICS does look nice)
Finally what is it with Nexus phones and lack of ext SD cards lately?... *shrug*

So basically it probably won't be a huge improvement over ICS like it was from GB to ICS.
Well that was to be expected.

Google does it agian much bigger improvment then IOS 6 from 5
sure it is
the benefit to 4.1 is project butter. No more lag and 60fps.
Looks nice. A themed ics
Big question is when will we see a 4.1 rom for vibrant?

man, i'm sure we will see it! It doesn't seem too different from ICS, but MP noted to me earlier today that even if we DO get 4.1, PROJECT BUTTER might not be compatible, and thats pretty much the BIG thing in 4.1, so it might not be as big as we plan.
Aw! That's what I was afraid of. Our vibrant might not have the guts for project butter. God dammit that would suck. Next nexus devices should be coming this fall right? If they price it to compete like they have tablet has been. I'll pick one of those babies up.
Well, Project Butter is just kernel changes etc, isn't it? Doesn't seem like it would be a hardware limitation unless it needed drivers or something
SG Nexus already have it.
We'll have it by next week. :good:

Yeah I was disappointed with the galaxy s3 so I'm holding out for one of the rumored Nexus devices this fall as well. Hopefully they'll have the option to allow upgrades so we don't have to buy an unlocked version for $599.

Apparently, according to rumors, there is supposed to be FIVE Nexus devices this year. I hope it is from all different manufacturers. Samsung,HTC,LG,Asus, and hopefully Nokia but that is unlikely.
Also, read up here, http://phandroid.com/2012/06/28/no-profit-in-nexus-7-pricing-says-rubin/
The reason the price is so LOW is because Google wants a clear pathway into the tablet market with this Nexus 7. A tegra 3 device at 200$? That, no one is daring to do but Google. They took no profits from the device, but I'm sure they will get something out of it since
1) market share increases
2) their own company value increases
3) if anyone uses the internet on any device, you can be sure as hell to see a google ad somewhere haha

Hopefully you are right, I was just saying that as MP pointed it out to me, but he was also unsure of it. Just speculation.
