I refuse to help people who...
a) Refuse to title their topics properly.
b) Refuse to give any relevant information about their problem.
If you expect any help from anybody you need to..
a) Write proper titles for threads, ie descriptive of topic.
b) Give relevant information like what rom you are using, what you have done, what exactly happens etc.
Just saying, my device is rebooting just isn't helpful to anybody, including yourself.
Which device version do you have?
Which rom are you using?
What partition did you use?
What exactly have you done?
Did you task29 your nand?
Did you properly format your card with sdformatter with full format (overwrite and size adjustment)?
etc etc etc

moving right along...tmous hd2, running lastest nrg sense 3.0 rom (eu version) have even ran the tmous version aswell. yes ive done task 29 and formatted sd card serveral times and it still randomly reboots

When your phone reboots ...
Are you installing some apps? (or restoring apps from titanium backup or any similar app?)
Do you have an ext on your sd?
Are you connected to WiFi ? (or data?)
Does your phone overheats? (or you feel like its too hot after it had rebooted?)
Does this happen on every ROM or just this one? (have you referred to the ROM's thread and looked for similar casualties?)

- Try not to overclock.
- Select your operator manually (worked for me)
btw, before posting a question, you need to explain more...

WiFi error - "Unable to scan for networks" - multiple NAND roms

Hey all,
I'm usually pretty good at figuring these types of things out, but unfortunately I haven't been able to figure this one out yet.
Wifi works fine in WinMo 6.5 and WinPhone 7. I haven't tried SD version of Android, but I'd rather not go that route as I want to be able to use a fully functioning NAND version of Android.
I have done Task29/wipe data/cache/dalvik cache on many occasions, repartitioned, reinstalled WinMo 6.5 and then started over with MAGLDR (latest version), replaced wifi module libraries, but nothing has proven to work. Everything else is perfect, though.
Somebody has to have experienced this before? I couldn't find much in terms of a solution by searching.
Thanks!
What HD2 Radio version are you using?
What Android ROM are you using?
Have you made sure that it is a MAGLDR version you are trying to install, not the cLK version?
Why would you need to replace the WiFi module librarys as your ROM should work without error after installation?
A bit more info and we should be able to sort this one out!

Hey. Thanks for joining!
- Radio 2.15.50.14 and one of the older ones which was installed when I picked up this phone
- Roms:
NDT MIUI Froyo V6.2 currently.
Tried [CWR] BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA_GINGER 2.3.4-Sense.s V29 (12.Jun), CMYLXGO's Stock Desire HD(2) NAND ROM v1.1.17 and a few others i can't remember. All MAG versions.
I tried replacing the libs, because i've read that as part of a fix for related wifi problems from earlier this year.
Thanks!

You have the most common Radio 2.15.50.14 so that isn't the problem.
The fix is mainly for cLK versions so it could use the PPP interface but if you are using MAGLDR then that isn't needed - this alone could be your problem, I reccomend not installing this patch any more?!
I play with roms a lot and normally my errors are due to using a kernel which the rom wasn't developed for - or more recently, frequent drops to the internet.
When my drops happened, I had done nothing different but it seems that a change in CM7 source now addressed my routers security settings differently - I have no idea when it was added and I was lucky enough to find a firmware update for my router which solved the problem.
Out of interest, when you click on wifi, does it say error or does it try to connect and randomly drop? Error would indicate a kernel/radio/hardware problem and dropping or not connecting would possibly indicate router problem.
Possibly, one of the best places to start is the security settings of your router, disable all security and see if it will connect... if it does then apply security - I use WPA2 PSK TKIP and it now works for me!
NDT MIUI Froyo V6.2 & CMYLXGO's Stock Desire HD are quite old (In terms of development), BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA_GINGER 2.3.4-Sense.s V29 is new and updated frequently so i'm unsure why all would have the same problem?!?!.
You could also try my rom located in my signature "HardDroid2" as I have extensively tested this and have no problems (Not trying to punt my rom at all!).
If changing your router settings or no other roms work then it is beyond me as there are only a few combinations af possible hardware/software faults!
Hope this helps
Already installed Is the phone supposed to boot in Airplane mode enabled for the first boot?
Ok, unfortunately the same issue with WiFi. What happens when i turn wifi on is it takes about 15 seconds for the check to appear in the box, then it stays on for about 15 more seconds with no networks showing, then it turns off automatically. The same thing with every rom I've tried, unless I start messing with libs or conf files at which point I get "error" or it doesn't turn on at all.
Thanks!

Ummmm... NOPE!
I think your problem is with your radio rom. I would reccomend starting from scratch!
This is what I do and it works fine for me:
Prep SD Card: Format FAT32 and also create a 1GB Ext3 Partition (For apps2SD if needed)
Copy the rom update.zip to FAT32 partition of SD Card & Insert into phone.
Run HSPL3_PKG.exe and install HSPL 2.08
Flash Radio_Leo_2.15.50.14
Run Task 29 - wipe phone
Install MAGLDR 1.1.3
start device (Hold down power button until menu list appears) choose USB Flasher
Install Recovery 150MB System/5MB Cache (ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.0.0)
Start MAGLDR (Hold down power button until menu list appears) Select "AD Recovery"
Boot ClockworkMod and install update.zip from SD Card.
I'm not trying to teach you how to suck eggs... but maybe there is a little step you may of missed?!?!?

I would reccomend re-downloading the files, especially the radio rom as I have a feeling it may be corrupted - don't know why it would work on WP7 though??
Use the HSPL3_PKG.exe to install HSLP 2.08 as it is regarded as the best.
I use Loader 2.10 KSubedi (MAGLDR 1.1.3 Debranded) just for asthetic reasons.
We will get there!!! lol
Same deal, unfortunately. I've noticed that the mac address is "unavailable" at all times, including the 10 secs the wifi is actually on (according to the switch)

Did you re-download the radio from here?: http://www.multiupload.com/QP0IWGY42F
I don't understand why your wifi works under wm6.5 (which installs during flashing rom) & WP7 (which runs the same way as android nand) but not under android... I would of classed it as a corrupted file and im completely at a loss!!!!
It can't be a hardware fault and there isn't any differences in earlier/later versions of the HD2's wifi module!!!
OK, I admit it.... I'm stumped!

If you install the latest rom and then task 29, you still have the radio version which installed with the rom as task 29 doesn't touch that section!
I remember a couple of years ago when I changed the wifi module on a PSP that it no longer held a mac address when using original Sony firmware... has your device been in for repair?
Just a thought really, i'm grabbing at straws since it really doesn't make sense to me!

I'm not sure about its history as I bought it used. Tomorrow is another day with more opportunities to resolve this issue.
Nothing changed by me installing a stock T-mobile WinMo 6.5 then going through the process of converting to NAND android. I found out that I'm not able to save a manual Wi-Fi network entry. Maybe this is a clue for the problem?
Thanks!

Well looking into the kernel, it seems that it will create a custom MAC address for each device to get past the 00:11:22:33:44:55 issue (I don't know what variables it would use to create this but possibly imei???)
There are no really adjustable settings in wpa_supplicant.conf which would help (As far as I can see)
Since you aren't showing a MAC address, it would indicate a problem with your hardware (as no other device has this problem) But why Windows roms would still work is beyond me and the only change in hardware revisions over the life of the HD2 has been to the lcd screen and not the radio hardware.
I have searched and tried to find more information on this but i'm unable to find a conclusive answer or solution
Here is a thought: Download the files which I use from here: http://www.andbuddy.com/files/FOBBu1308083933.html
This contains all the files which I use and a small guide - Please follow ALL the steps as this has given me a 100% working device!
If it still doesn't work after this then I will have to admit that i'm beaten

I'm suspecting that the actual wifi related hardware is damaged somewhere, maybe the coaxial cable, at least in my phone.
Do you try solution : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827521
i try but i can't do step 6 :
"6. Go to menu Device -> File Explorer. New window will come up."
it not show file
- I Think problem relate with hardware because with the same Room , same Radio , same Wif network other device ok but of me false

Unstable HD2

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my HD2, and Yes, I've read other "unstable HD2" topics.
However my problem is quite different.
My HD2 is unstable on any OS or ROM.
I've used some Polish roms, then Cruzers.
I found Cruzer 5 most stable, however I still had to reflash radio from time to time, and do hard reset quarterly to maintain stability (no OS modification, hacks or any other "funny" business meantime), stock OS's seemed stable at first, but then proved otherwise.
Now with m$ MyPhone closure I've decided to jump onto android as I've bought a PNA for Navigation.
I'm using Magldr + HyperDroid CM7 HeadyHoneyBadger and it seemed stable for quite some time.
Now just out of nowhere it begins to crash all the time, with no activity from me at all.
Installed additional programs, tested each one on aspect of stability, and none proved faulty:
- Eset Mobile Antivirus
- XConstruct
- 3g watchdog
- Goweather
- AndFTP
- Transdroid
- ConnectBot
- FLashplayer
- TitaniumBackup
- Make Your own clock widget
- TuneIn Radio
- Skype
- Dialer One
- Google SkyMap
- Google Maps with modded Navi
- Bluetooth File Transfer
- ASTRO File Manager
- RockPlayer Lite
- Robo Defense FREE
- Allegro
- MoboPlayer
- Minimal Reader
- CalWidget
- Battery Calibration
- Barcode Scanner
- Adobe® Reader®
- Shazam
Is there any hope for me?
Could You advise me anything?
Thank You for any responses,
GreQ
You need to do a clean install.
This means completley wiping both the NAND and SDCard.
Format SDCard with Panasonic SDFormatter....
Format: FULL+Overwrite
Size Adjustment: ON
Clean Install..
Get the HD2 Tools in the sticky thread in Android NAND section
Put phone into bootloader - Use Task29
Put phone into bootloader - Install MAGLDR
Then you will need to choose the appropriate CWM partition for the rom, check the thread for details or use the DFT flasher if it comes with one.
If this doesn't solve it you will likely need to get a new/different card.
TheATHEiST, Thank You for answering.
I've done those steps before doing an clean install of HyperDroid.
When I was testing those programs - if they're at fault or not I was doing clean install every time - it took a larger part of my life
My SD card is really slow, however I don't use EXT on SD, I have no EXT at all, may that be the cause?
If SD is faulty, would my HD2 benefit from better/faster card?
what exactly is unstable? can you give more details?
Thanks for answering jsmccabe78.
Most things in android FC after some time, or at the start, or even don't start at all.
On windows apps hang, close, sense doesn't want to boot up.
Yesterday when I thought I had a while until some total reflash I've tried to do backup via ClockWorkMod, and then even Magldr and CWM started hanging, now phone won't boot.
Doing total reflash, let's see if that helps... again..
It didn't help this time...
GAPPS, Framework crash all the time.
Radio 15.50 , HSPL 2.08, fresh MAGLDR.
Reflashed everything 2 times now, every time different app starts to malfunction...
.12. Radio seems to improve stability.
strange. often when things are bad on different os on one machine, hardware seems to be the culprit. but seems like you have a ghost in the machine!
i want to re-iterate what theatheist said.
clean install. i mean clean.
task 29 (tho not sure how useful)
flash back to wm
reformat sdcard - so everything is deleted and it is like it is squeaky new.
then try a rom.
if still weird, try a new sdcard.
sorry, if after completely cleaning / new sdcard/ etc. still with problems, is likely hardware. but i am by no means the end all of knowledge on this!
Thanks again for reply.
This time, when I wrote about .12. radio I've done this:
- task 29
- flash original 3.14 rom
- task 29
- magldr
- cwm
- cwm -> install HyperDroid
And for now it's about 48hr without any major hang, however CalWidget still hangs on occasion.
Nothing left for me but to wait for quad-core device with qwerty.
1- is this the first time you did task 29?
2- did your re-formate your sd card?
curious about #1.
if problems arise, do #2. (what's to lose?)
good luck until the dream phone comes out. ha! cheers, mate. good luck.
1. I've been doing Task29 all the time , I do it every time I need to touch ROM
2. I did
well fingers crossed. i don't know anything more than what you have done. really.
best of luck!
After you have done a clean install as others have posted, and you still have the problem. You might try a new SIM card. I have seen some bad ones causing lockups.
hi,
i´ve many problems with my device.... i tested many many roms of android and wp7 too...
problems are freezes and reboots in every rom... in different roms i have no internet connection or if a call arrives the phone freezes and a robot sound appears...??? sometimes i started the browser and the device reboot...
the next is... the original winmob6.5 stockrom has the same problems... but not too much like android or wp7....
did anyone have an idea...
P.S. i´ve tested 3 different sd cards
thanks
Maybe try doing an RMA?
Device might be the problem.

Recommend simple, idiot-proof, Android?

I have an HTC HD2. I'd like to run Android so I can use the Intuit credit card processing software....
I'm looking for simple, idiot-proof, acronym-free instructions on finding and installing a current, stable, functional Android...
I'm sure the folks that hang out here all the time know what all the acronyms are, but I'm a touch baffled... I figured out "sd" means the SD card in the phone. But, "NAND", "CWM" "MAGDLR", and some of the arcane terminology is confusing, and I don't know what I NEED to know and what I can safely ignore...
So, I can guess and pick some Android installation (it appears there are dozens of notes touting competing versions) but it would be simpler if someone in here can recommend something for a computer literate user that doesn't want to be a cell phone O/S expert...
Recommendations?

Not to sound ungrateful 'cause I'm sure there's a lot of useful information in there somewhere, but this is exactly why I'm requesting something idiot-proof...

Why am I flashing anything?
What is hspl 2.09 and why would I need it?
what on EARTH does "hspl4-task 29-flash radio 2.15" even MEAN?
why do I need a "proper cwr partition"?
and what rom am I selecting?
and on and on......
OK, so I presume the above is either a test or a bit of humor at the uninformed observer's expense (that'd be me)...
So, can I have all this translated from phone geek to dumb end user now?
Again, I presume I can just put Android on the SD card without a lot of pain and anguish, so still wondering what's a good, stable, fully-functional installation that'll run the GoPayment software and let me swipe credit cards through the phone...
my question, did you read the links? i mean really really read them? not just click and say "oh ****, that's a lot of text, i need help?" trust me....read them...then read them again...then read it again. it will start to make sense. your questions--
best read for a lot of your questions (besides what was posted above):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021837
Why am I flashing anything?
- you said you wanted android. technically you could use an sdcard rom, but he was just trying to give you what you asked for. guess the question should be why are YOU flashing anything?
you should ask - do i want windows mobile and android, only android (get rid of windows mobile all together) or windows phone (wp7) and android. only then can we point you in the right direction.
What is hspl 2.08 and why would I need it?
- read my thread above!!!!!! cuz you can't flash android without it (this is a custom bootloader that allows your windows mobile phone to install magldr or clk which allows you to install android to nand - aka install android to your phone)
what on EARTH does "hspl4-task 29-flash radio 2.15" even MEAN?
ignore the task 29 (i have never done this).
hspl4 will install hspl2.08 to your phone. this unlocks the bootloader. layman's terms - allows you to install magldr or clk to install android (or windows phone 7)
you need a particular radio to make this all work. that radio is 2.15. a radio is what allows your phone to make calls/data/etc. don't ask why this is, this is just the way it is. the radio your phone came with is likely different.
why do I need a "proper cwr partition"?
- cuz this allows you to install android. too small a partition, android won't fit. too large a partition, wasted space. just right partition = all good. you need to READ the rom thread to know what is the right partition.
and what rom am I selecting?
- you need to READ about the flavors of roms. there are a bunch. take one and try it. if it doesn't work, find another.
Again, I presume I can just put Android on the SD card without a lot of pain and anguish,
- yes, this is true
so still wondering what's a good, stable, fully-functional installation that'll run the GoPayment software and let me swipe credit cards through the phone
- beats me. but why not just try something? sdcard roms cannot in anyway hurt your phone.
now go read. and read. and read. and then experiment. good luck.
here is the best idiot proof way to get android on your phone. it is a winmo rom that has android already built in so you wont have to figure out what is what. its so easy even a cave man can do it.
Well, as usual, the secret to getting the right answer is asking the right question. And the trick to asking the right question is knowing most of the answer....
I didn't........
What I'd LIKE to do is have some current, fully functional version of Android available so I can process credit cards through my HD2 using a swiper. Over time, I may attempt to migrate other things to Android - like contacts and such. But initially, I'm just concerned about the CC processing.
So, as I understand what I want to do, putting Android on the SD card will work, and I just need to figure out which one of the umpteen versions is a good one. I'd like a home page that looks at least somewhat like my current Windows page. I"d like the buttons to continue to work as they currently do (as much as possible)....
I went out and started looking at the various SD Android versions here and selected the nexushd2-gingerbread v2.8 one because of a reply in a previous note asking for a "good" Android......
Installed it, and it works fine, although I"m not particularly fond of the home page. Put the GoPayment application on, plugged in the swiper, and ran a charge.... Appears to work fine, so it solves my primary problem...
Now, since I've figured out I'd prefer to use an SD installation, and have one that works, is there a "better" one that I should try? One that looks and feels more like the Windows Mobile 6.5 I'm used to? Or, is there one that has a different look and feel, but some functionality that makes it superior to the others?
This ROM I'm about to recommend dates back to last November...
However, I have tried every SD ROM since that time, used them for either a few hours/days/weeks, and still always returned to this one. It is just flawless, albeit Android 2.2.
Just download it, throw the 'Android' folder into the SD Card, and run the two files (CLRCAD.exe which appears to do nothing, but does enable the sound, and then Haret.exe)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847631&highlight=black+blue
If you decide to move off WinMob, then NANDs are good, but personally I just have a WinMob program which runs on boot and then executes those two files)
Enjoy!

do you like sense base builds or would you prefer 1 that doesn't have sense like cm7 or a miui ROM?
AmeriCanAndroid seems to be a favorite for a lot of people and is updated rather often but i personally like RafDroid HD found here. if you want to take a look at other android builds for the htc hd2 found here on xda check out this webpage. it will also give you some info about each ROM like the base, build, when it was updated & if it has sense or not. when you find one you want just click it & it will link you back to the page found on XDA.
Am I correct that "Sense" is the user interface used on the Windows Mobile HD2? If so, yes, I like it, but probably because I"m used to it. I'd have to try some different versions with different UIs to see what's most comfortable.
I'm currently running the nexushd2-gingerbread v2.8 one I downloaded yesterday. The UI is enough different that it's taking a little getting used to.
I'll have to give the others you mentioned a try, and go look at the web page that shows the different builds. I"m amazed at how many there are.
Just for fun I downloaded the AmeriCanAndroid 08/1/11 version and put it on the SD card..... Tried to run clrcad.exe and got the "CLRCAD annot be opened" error. Tried haret and got the same error. Both say "Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found..."
So, am I missing something simple or is there a problem with this build? I found a couple topics in here about problems with clrcad but they seemed to wander aimlessly without any resolution...
I've now looked through a couple DOZEN topics over the last year with complaints of exactly the problem I'm seeing with clrcad and haret... I don't see a resolution in ANY of them......
Yesterday, copied the files onto the phone for the nexus gingerbread Android, ran clrcad and haret and was up and running.......
Now, I've tried three different builds, including reinstalling the nexus one, and NONE of them will run. I get the same error for clrcad and haret every time.
Shutting down the phone didn't do anything.
I figure there's got to be a simple, obvious answer sitting here but I'm not finding it.
sense for windows mobile & sense for android are two different things. i personally dont know of any android rom or app thats availible in the market that will give you a windows mobile look or feel. i would find a rom that you want and then try & find a video on youtube that matches it so you can see what its like before you go through all the steps to flash it.
did you unzip AmeriCanAndroid or did you leave it in a zip file? i have since moved to nand builds so im going from memory which is starting to fail me in my old age but i think it needs to be unzipped using something like 7-zip. i think you just put the android folder on the root of your sd card. there is a video in the thread that shows you how to do the install. you can find that here.
so you tried to re-install something that worked for you yesterday but now you cant install it again? how long did you wait because with some builds it can take as long as 10-15 mins to install everything correctly. could you give me the steps you took step by step to try to install AmeriCanAndroid? i think thats the only way i would be able to help.
Yesterday I downloaded the Android 7z file. Unzipped it on the PC and let it create an android folder with all the files. Plugged in the phone and copied the android folder to the root of the SD card on the phone. Ran clrcad and haret on the phone and IT WORKED PERFECTLY.........
Today, just to try one of the builds recommended in here I downloaded a different android. did EXACTLY the same thing - unzipped with a 7z unzip, copied it to an android folder in the root of the phone, ran clrcad and got the error. Ran haret and got the same error........
Cleaned off the android folder on the phone, rebooted, tried a soft reset, etc.
Copied the nexus android build from the PC to the phone - EXACTLY AS I DID YESTERDAY WHEN IT WORKED. Ran clrcad and got the error......
I don't know what's going on with the phone or the Android builds or what, but there are a LOT of entries here and elsewhere on the web about people having exactly this problem. And so far I haven't seen the answer that makes this problem go away......
My recollection is that I had EXACTLY the same problem about 6 months ago. Installed an earlier version of Android and after the first time I rebooted the phone I could never get Android to run again. Just got the same clrcad and haret errors...
So, SOMEBODY, what's causing this and how do I get rid of it WITHOUT having to do some hard reset the destroys everything on the phone?
Back up any data on you sd card you need (I.e. pics, vids, music, whatever you feel important.) Download the Panasonic sd formatter and format your sd card. Copy over the android folder that is in the 7zip that you have unzipped. You should be able to boot ok from there.
Sent from my AmeriCan NANDroid HD2 r727 magldr
Formatted from the PC.
Installed the formatter on the PC. Formatted the SD card. MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. Copied the Android folder (the identical folder I copied yesterday) to the SD card, and STILL get exactly the same error from clrcad.....
Is this something that happens a lot? 'Cause so far, the two times I've had Android on this phone this has happened. And there are a LOT of topics out there with exactly this problem, and a lot of unsuccessful "do this" that don't appear to work. Does ANYBODY had a real fix for this? It worked perfectly 24 hours ago, now it doesn't. My BIG concern is that if Android is flaky and unreliable on the SD card I can't use this thing to do credit card processing if it's going to randomly fail and not be bootable.

your suppose to copy the unzipped android folder to the root of your sd card and not your phone. i think thats why your getting an error.
example: download rom and unzip using 7-zip. take the "Android" folder not AmeriCanAndroid from within that file and drag_drop or copy_paste to the root of your sd card. then using a file manager from within winmo go to the android folder & run clrcad and then haret. it should run fine. you can also use a program called Rundroid that automats some of the work. its a great app that will allow you to dual boot android but i think you might find it useful as well, you can find it here. RunDroid will allow you to run several android builds from your sd, not just 1.
fwiw, I can't (won't) say anything bad about any custom ROM offered on this board. My own favorite (to use) is a personal choice, which doesn't make it superior to any other - though it may be. It's just what I'm used to, what works for me and what I'm satisfied with.
Doesn't matter if you use a stock HD2 WinMo setup, or a custom WinMo ROM on your HD2. An Android SD build won't interfere with it. And so... (personally) I use AmericanAndroid (ACA). It IS used by a majority of folks for good reason. - BUT - I'm trying my best to be careful and clear with YOU that it may not be the best solution for you or anyone else in particular. We don't play favorites on this site for good reason! For me though... it is an extremely easy ROM to implement.
So you're having a bit of trouble with clrcad & haret... No Problemo.
Google is your friend... find and install under WinMo the 'exceller bootloader'. You'll boot WinMo... and then run Exceller. It will shut down WinMo and run clrcad & haret.
Make sure you've properly installed ACA on your SD card first. No need to partition your SD card. Make sure you're clear with the instructions on the first page and be sure to edit the startup.txt file (before installation) to change the LCD pixel density from 167 (default) to 240... unless you have eagle eyes or like tiny icons & text.
This is your simplest solution, and... get to know it a bit before you swap it for something that might (possibly) not be better. There's a reason a majority of users have chosen to use this Android build.
I'd wish you good luck, but luck has nothing to do with these things. Have fun with it! -Rob
Yes, EVERYTHING was copied to the Android folder OF THE SD CARD......
I have no problem installing yet another piece of software to (hopefully) get the necessary clrcad and haret files to run, but THIS WORKED TWO DAYS AGO. Without a bootloader or anything else. It worked.....
And yes, Google is quite effective. It showed me dozens of topics in forums where people complained of EXACTLY the problem I'm having. What it DIDN'T show me was a fix that didn't involve reformatting the SD card, REPLACING the SD card, doing a hard reset on the phone, and (this one I haven't seen before) installing a boot loader to hopefully get around the issue... BTW: all the above with the exception of the boot loader were tried by people with no success.
FWIW: I"m not criticizing any of the Android builds in here. I'm sure they're largely excellent, with slightly different flavors. And they represent a huge amount of work, of which I'm cognizant and appreciative.
I presume the problem is with Windows Mobile, NOT the Android builds, but it would be comforting to have somebody provide a solution to why it works when installed, and doesn't work after a reboot. Did all those other people that had the same problem do what I did six months ago and just give up on Android as being more work than it was worth? This isn't an isolated problem, there are dozens (and probably hundreds) of instances of people not being able to get Android to boot.
Anyhow, I"ll go find an exceller bootloader and try that. Hopefully, the thing is controllable so if things still fail I can get back to Windows...
I spoke too soon....... It's early here (having started this again at 04:00), and maybe my brain just isn't working yet, or it could VERY possibly be that I'm just too stupid to be allowed to mess with this whole thing, but I eventually found a copy of EBL2.1a._PlusUbuntu.CAB and downloaded it to the PC.
Then I went and found instructions on installing a cab file on the HD2. According to them I just COPY the cab file from the folder on the pc to My Documents on the SD card of the phone, then disconnect the phone from the PC, navigate to the folder, and click on the cab file.......
OK, sounds simple enough....... Did so.
Got a popup on the phone that said it was "Installing ..." At the bottom I got "The program is from an unknown publisher... Do you want to continue?"
So, I clicked YES...... Again, fairly idiot-proof........
And got "Installation of EBL2.1a._PlusUbuntu.CAB was unsuccessful."
Nothing else.... Just the message on a blank screen...
I"ll leave out the amount of screaming and swearing I"m doing at this point.....

right im a total nooob at this but i cant seem to install a rom from this site, i have read all how to but still no joy, i am using magdlr copying the zip to the sd card, ad recovery, install from zip etc, but all i get is a hanging android device starting screen, i have used the easy android app but still nothing? what am i doing wrong, please help,

This is the developement section, for questions (and answers ) there´s the Q&A forum.
I met your problem before. Finally i tried to flash ANDROID_BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA_Desire HD A2SD V23 then success.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16270840&postcount=3
Now I can flash anything what I want.....
Also you're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a short subject title that describes your problem and a message that explains in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it. Some more info may help people help you with your problem.
Since you are new take a moment to read the Forum & Marketplace Rules. Don't worry too much about posting in the wrong section (as long as you post in the correct sections next time)...a mod will move it to the correct section soon.

Didn´t mean to be rude
So now let´s hear, what setup you have, what you wanted to install and how you did it, i am sure we´ll find out where the problem lies.
I think you haven´t partitioned the NAND correctly, let us see a link to the build you are using as well.
What about your Radio ROM?
Did you partitioned your SD card corretcly?
What about your partition layout?
Simple sequence
1. Install HardSPL 2.08
2. Install Radio 2.15.50.14
3. Install MAGLDR 1.13 bootloader
4. Install MAGLDR_CWM_Recovery
5. Install your preferred ROM

Then you obviously havent even read teh roms instructions properly because all the roms that need a partition specifically tell you to partition your nand and what partition to use.
Also if you are having issue installing a rom you should at least tell us which rom you have been trying to install.
And in future try and put a title that makes sense. Putting "help" doesnt describe your topic in any way. Titles need to be descriptive. If you want to say help, say it in your topic.
one quick note, when formatting your card, set the allocation unit size to what is set by the rom builder. forgot to what i set mine, but that can cause a lot of problems.

[Q] Frustrated NOOB needs a little help installing rom

After several days struggle, I'm burned out. Some of the threads here have 100+ pages, and searches yield too much outdated, irrelevant info. So, I'm asking for some direction (as simple as possible, please).
I'm trying to set up my unlocked HD2 (originally T-Mo, but unlocked and using AT&T) for dual-boot, WM6.5 and Android. As you know, the choices for android rom are mind-boggling. I don't need anything fancy, just something up-to-date and stable. I would like, however, something LOUD.
Here's what I've tried so far:
Using despy1989's March 2010 guide (four years old already!), I have my HD2 booting up asking to choose Android or WM. If I choose Android, it does nothing, and defaults to WM.
I have SUNDAWG-CM7-NATIVESD rom loaded (or I think I do) in the android directory of the SD card. I'm not sure this one will meet my LOUD requirement, but since it won't load, I can't tell.
If I tap the new Android icon, it does nothing. If I tap the Android SoftReset icon, it resets but does not load Android, goes to WinMo.
If I go to File Explorer, and run haret, I get the message "failed to load file \storagecard\android\sdcard\nativesd\zimage"
What do I do next?
ANY help is much appreciated.
How did you installed Android as NativeSD? Did you made a partition on your SD in EXT4 which is needed for installing the Rom? Why you want keep WM 6.5 anyway?

AFAIK, yes it is installed as NativeSD, Did not make a partition (there was conflicting advice as to whether it was necessary. I'm not ready to go "all in" and reformat my old SD card yet.)
Want to keep WM6.5 since it is the only one that works the way I need. I've been playing with a Sony X10a with Android 1.6 and am frustrated. I specifically need LOUDNESS and customizable ringtones and notifications, and relatively easy syncing with my PC.
Thanks for your reply and any further advice.
If you do not make a partition EXT4 it will never be installed so you just messing around that is why is not working. From WM6.5 can be run only SD Android version or there is another way, much longer but it's the way how it have to be.
Install MAGLRD and Recovery, probably this will wipe the phone, make the partition on SD to Install NativeSD, Install the Rom as Native SD. Then flash back the Stock WM6.5, this will wipe MAGLRD and Recovery. Now start again Android from the folder created from the installation. It should boot.

Sorry. As a NOOB, what you've suggested is Greek to me and far too complicated. I can't risking wiping the phone and bricking it.

I did this 100 times and HD2 is not that easy to brick, I never heard about bricked HD2 before. Then if you don't want to do it you will never have NativeSD on your phone because the NativeSD have to be installed on EXT4 partition, there is no other way. The only Android which you can use is from this section HERE. Put it on SD with other stuff and run with the application from WM6.5. First boot is very long.

No, wipe (task29) won't even touch SPL parts.
So, unless you're super duper unlucky using wipe command, you won't bricking your device.
I don't know if you're already flash HSPL.
I suggest you to flash HSPL first, then the rest is up to you..

If you really can't do this I can assist you via Team Viewer, I will tell you what to do and what to download. Before that I have to see your bootloader. Send me a PM to arrange an appointament. I don't know nobody in USA at the moment or I don't know they are.

Been trying to follow your steps, but when I get to "Native SD Install Recovery", the links are broken. (this is the very kind of frustrations I'm having - there does not appear to be one single step-by-step guide without numerous links to invalid or outdated sites. I don't need advertising either.)
I can't find the 4EXT partition (in W8.1) in order to install anything.
So, now what?
