Is anyone using Thor ROM v12? I know many folks use his kernel. Wondering how his ROMs rate before I flash and reinstall everything
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I have been using them for a while now and they are very fast and stable.
A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
i use them also and no complaints here.
Do you know if they are hulu enabled? Not a big deal but that's a real plus for Civato's excellent mix ROM
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yes they come with no flash reinstalled so you can install a hulufied flash....some games don't work because the build.prop sets the tablet as the eee pad
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
His roms (including v12) are faster than any of the others I've tried. I really have no idea why that is, but I've definitely got no complaints. Plus v12 is themed to look similar to ICS for Tablets.
Best by far. OCd to 1400 with no reboots, no crashes.
Wonder how long before the lock comes...
I guess I'm the lone dissenting voice here. I tried V11 and I found it to be much laggier than Light speed.
Which overclock governor do you use? Also is 1400 significantly decreasing your battery life? stock is pretty fast.
I installed hulu enabled flash from titanium works great.
So far so good

Yeah, I really like the ICS look he put on v12

I'm using the v12, and it works really well! I didn't know honeycomb could be this good. lol One thing I'm having problem with is that I only have 155~250 mb of free ram. On other roms, with about the same amount of apps installed, and not much open, I have about 350~400 mb free, but this rom is weird.. Any advice please?
hrmmm man i need to stop reading these forums ... got me downloading v12 now to try out!
In the past week i've gone: Stock 3.0.1 -> Lightspeed -> Near Stock 3.2 -> Taboonay -> Lightspeed and now looks like i'll be adding thor to that list too haha.. Getting sick of re-installing apps
Wow! Just installed thor rom v12 and gotta say .. none of the other roms have been this quick & smooth straight off the bat.. haven't installed or changed anything yet, but first impression is good ... app drawer, stock apps, switching home screens, etc seems very fast & smooth..
Thor 12
Wonderful. It is heavier in size to download as compared to light speed but after installing and putting same amount of apks its almost the same size on storage search. Wish they could just put a different skin on the browser.
I like thor rom,i go to testing V12
I also do my ikonia use of either the v12 does not work well but the browser crashes FC. but everything else was perfect thank thor now I'm back on v11
Fastest ROM on the A500. Would be even better if build.prop was for iconia and mot the epad IMO.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
ive been running V12 for the past few days running a 1.6GHZ overclock stable as can be. It runs smooth a butter, I've found my everyday driver.
I have noticed that it eats up battery a bit faster than other Roms but I use setcpu to manage clock speeds and all is well.

In the dev section there is a thread with a custom build prop for V12 that makes the tab an Acer instead of an eeepad at the cost of one or two Asus apps not working.
Want to share your setcpu settings?
Do you have a link to that build.prop? I could not find anything. What's the harm in using the Asus one?
using Thor's last kernel and rom, OV at 1336: stable and snappy

I've found that stock 1.3 rooted is a lot smoother in scrolling animations and such... Will CM7 ever attain this smoothness? Yes, i have tried both overclocked at 1.2-1.3 ghz
What version of CM7? Was it an SD card install?
Sent from my LG Optimus V using Tapatalk
I've noticed the opposite, as long as cm7 doesn't have too many apps installed.
Sent from my NookColor using xda premium
What sd card where you using? Not all are made the same.
I've used 7.0.3, 7.1RC1, and nightlies between around 140-165. All emmc
I don't deal with stock so can't tell how smoothness it is but it's a good sign.
If you like rooted stock ROM then go ahead and use it.
I like CM7, but I like the smoothness of stock. The bad thing is the missing features
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I have the same problem. My theory is that CM7 is just missing hardware acceleration on the nook at this time (I think I remember reading this somewhere). Maybe a driver issue?
I thought they had that worked out in the first stable release? Maybe that was just video acceleration
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Video is fixed, but that my be a different part of the driver.
(This is entirely speculation on my part, based on my somewhat sporadic - and decidedly incomplete - knowlage.) My guess: there are 3 parts to the video "card" driver. 2D hardware, 3D hardware, and coprocessor functions. When they fixed video, they probably got the coprocessor functions working, but not the 2D or 3D hardware.
There is a good chance I am wrong, so correct me if you know.
On a side note, why cant CM7 use the video driver from the stock FW? It's still a Linux kernel underneath so shouldn't the drivers work, or am I missing something completely?
That makes some sense, but games(at least angry birds haha) work okay... So I dont know.
On using the kernel from stock: they probably can't use the stock kernel, because stock is based on Froyo, and CM7 is Gingerbread

Almost none of the stock rom is open source. I'm pretty sure the stock video driver was never released.
On the topic of smoothness:
I have found CM7 to be much smoother than stock. It probably just depends on your set up.

I just installed 203, and its definitely faster. its nice to be using cm7 again. I missed the status bar. Its quite a bit smoother than the last time I used it. I can also see all apps in the market now, which is sooo nice
Everything is running great, except for the YouTube app. It isn't working for me on nightly 202 or 203
Can you post a link to this V6 super charger script?

It's pretty advanced, just so you know.
I know its all personnel preference. But what rom is better. I'm looking for that happy medium for smooth performance with GREAT battery life. I am already running cm7 bat whatever its its alright. I have no need for webtop. HDMI mirrioring would be cool of it was landscape and was stable. And wireless hot spot and working gps is a must. Just wanting to flash something new and stick with it tired of dashing different things and having to set up my phone again any help will greatly be appreciated

I've noticed 15-18% better battery on Darkside than that on cm7 and I used to get great battery on that one so go figure
Plus, all works here pretty smoothly.

If your looking for speed go with Neutrino. Honestly its by far the fastest rom I have ever used. Battery is great, and the creator is very helpful with any problems you have.
Highly recommended!!
I have yet to be disappointed with darkside was playing around with miui for awhile. probably go to that once development is further along but back to darkside for now

I've bin on DarkSide since version 2.0
Love it so far
right now on 4.4 lite version.
Although with all the cool stuff added on to the newer version it seems just a bit slower to me then back when i was on 2.xxx versions, but they are worth it.
still much better then anything stock though. (maybe it's just me, maybe it's not slower, or maybe it's just my phone, I don't know...)
big thanks to Nottach for such a great work and his time!

Hi all,
i use both, jumping from Neutrino to DarkSide & vice-versa via Nand-BackUp (and trying also others).
Neutrino is so smooth, fast and battery +/- the same as DarkSide.
Anyway i've found the DarkSide surprisingly similar about performance. Then mind that if you like to use WebTop or LapDock ROMs based on CM7 as Neutrino haven't these features.
I like Neutrino but it is more like pre-beta stage to me. It takes too much tweaking to get it to act normal. Currently on darkside 2.8 using landscape hdmi support

I always keep coming back to DarkSide 4.2 Lite
It's been pretty stable, fast and has all the bells and whistles I need (specially Webtop and Fingerprint Scanner).
I'm hoping that some day I could stick with MIUI once it matures enough, I'm willing to let go my Webtop as long as I can use HDMI Landscape Mirror with my Lapdock.
Miui alpha 3. Best battery life on my atrix out of any custom rom. Only thing is, porn doesn't load from the browser, and games have to be played on silent.
Besides that it's gold.

The Darkside, the best based motoblur. Neutrino, the best ROM. Neutrino is smooth, CM7 based with MIUI camera.
Just flashed neutrino 1.4 some time back. I think the battery is draining rather fast. But i'll let it stick for another week before I go back to Darkside. Motoblur still has a lot of my contacts which won't show up when I install any of the cm7 based roms .
Between Darkside and cm7 I feel Darkside had rather significantly battery life. However, the customizability of cm7 may be worth the sacrifice. To each his own, pick your favorite.

Running MIUI Alpha
Hi I have been running neutrino 1.4s ee for week prior to that cm 7.1. I think neutrino has been quicker generally but it is very stripped down so by the time you have added things back to it think it then seems to have slowed up a bit. Boot is very quick, but my GPS doesn't work. I think they're trying to fix in next update. Quite a few fc's too. Tempted to try darkside soon though.

I've been using my kindle fire with stock firmware since launch. I think it is time to root this guy and throw an awesome rom onto it. I've been browsing the dev section for a while and can't make up my mind with what rom to put on first. Any suggestions? I would prefer an ICS/CM9 rom. I like playing games a lot, and not sure if this matters. Thanks in advance!
I have been using CM7 Barebones and having no issues with any games. Everytime I put an ICS Rom on I run into problems with some games freezing (probably due to lack of HWA) and end up coming back to Barebones.
Good luck!

I know what you mean by the ICS interface. Its ten times better than the gingerbread interface. I personally use biteblazes cm9 reloaded v1.1 and I over clock my kernel using the Daemon Controller provided to these settings: 80000 min 1300000 Max with the governor set to on demand. With these settings the rom runs exceptional with the exception of hwa. I can play every game that I have tried so far without a SOD or a FC occurring. Let me know how this works for you if you give it a try

I think a great dev should take the old GB MIUI's and create an up to date working release of GB MIUI because its so much faster than v4 for the EVO. Like they could soup it up with ram tweaks, update the apps, add there own twists, and create a stable version of GB MIUI with working apn's and gps. It would be a great rom for the community that loves MIUI.
All that worked fine in the last version of MIUI ICS by Swiper that I ran
With my experience with ics and v4 is that its kind of sluggish. I'm talking about a gingerbread version where everything works because not everything works in ics and v4.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA
The only thing that didn't work was FFC. Everything else was fine, and it wasn't sluggish.
Well for me the keyboard experiences lag and the time it takes to switch apps or start one is very slow. Also just scrolling screens is laggy. I've just always experienced this lag when running an ics rom.

I am currently running Andromadus Mimicry, but I have found it to be quite slow. Has anyone experienced any quick, but stable roms.
Thanks
Another one of these?
Whatever one you use that meets your expectations. There are people here that will run ICS without issues, but state they have issues with Jelly Bean or Gingerbread. It is all a matter of what works for you.
That being said, CM7 based ROMs are your best bet. They are the most developed and mature for the device.

If you find Andromadus Mimicry and CM7.2 too slow, than I’m afraid you need a new phone
Minicry might not be 100% stable, but it is pretty close. I think the ICS (or JB) would not be significantly faster even with official HTC kernel (without hacks).
You can overclock your phone and try different governors. This way you can improve the “smoothness” at a cost of battery life. Also be sure you are running ext4 filesystem. And a fast SD card may help too, check if it is at least class 8.
Mimicry flies for me at 1.5ghz
Andromadus test builds with JellyBean are the fastest of all I've tested so far (cm7.*, cm9.*, MIUI, stock sense ROMs etc.). There are some bugs however (in latest build - #71 - for example camera stopped working), but speed, smoothness, and all JB-related-features of this ROM are really outstanding. I believe, that all annoying bugs will be smashed really soon and my G2 will last until new nexus comes out.

Both of them tend to have some VERY slow slowdown periods, where I have to take out the battery, just to get It responsive.
When I try to overclock it, anything higher than about 1209 (with smartass governor) gives me a bootloop.

I'm coming from GB + CM7 rom, is the new JB or ICS much faster and still retain the phone's full functionality? I'm considering changing to Andromadus Minicry ICS/CM9. Currently, there is considerable lag when I just try to open up e-mail or respond to a text msg.
If there is much improvements, I rather just stay with my current build try not fix something that isn't (completely) broken. Is there a good way to migrate current apps over to the new rom? I'm currently running some crack apps that may not be available anymore.

Sense beyond 2.1/3.5(gingerbread) generally speaking is too much bloat for desirez/g2, sense 4.0A would be fine cept its been worsen and slowed down with the 3.0 kernel for sake of a working camera. The full sense 4.0 they took the kernel from is slow to the point of practically unusable on our devices.

Jelly bean still has a bit of work to put into, but there are plenty of fast ICS roms (non-sense) out there with "functional" camera app (post-gb its mainly the camera people complain about)
I've found for me, ICS to be quicker/smoother than stock or CM7.2.
Regarding apps (while I don't condone piracy) titanium backup would be the solution, assuming said apps are compatible with ICS.

PS: "CM9" by Jerl is not CM9 Official (ie: it didn't come from the cyanogenmod people), it's just bout the same (if not worse in my opinion) than Mimicry which is based off Andromadus which is based off Cyanogenmod 9's source. Though if you do try Jerl's port of it, I strongly advise you not to use the 3.0 kernel, too many problems with it and he apparently didn't bother testing it before releasing it (or least didn't bother to tell people the risk).
Far as google account syncing, it depends on whether or not you made sure to flash google apps afterwards, and if you accidently booted prior to flashing it, then you need to make sure to remove all your accounts on the phone then re-add them as it says in the OP of that thread.
