[Q] U8800 Gingerbread update failed (battery ran out) - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hello pepole..
My classmate have tryed to upgrade his huawei u8800 to gingerbread on his own..
but he forgot to charge the battery (so he sayes) so it ran out.. while updating.
i still kan update from sd card clear chash and clear rom ?? and restart the phone.
is there any file i can put on this Sd card an upgrate it from there? i tryed to search here but so many solutions i want to be sure before i do sometinh rash.

If you can boot into recovery, just wipe and reflash the rom

yes i guessed so. but now i got lot of files here.. and i dont know whit one to use?

There are 3 custom roms available here for X5(not pro): Miui, Oxygen and CM7.
All are gingerbread, which is the latest available android version.
Miui is more eye candy(looks like iphone), but costs faster memory drain.
Oxygen and CM7 seems to be in the same level(maybe Oxygen is a bit more stable).
Oxygen is more "bulk", CM7 have some useful settings additions which aren't in stock roms(or oxygen some of them).
Also there is franco' s kernel which is indepentent of what rom of above you'll use(you need to flash in after the first rom' s boot), and have a lot o improvements for speed and battery saving.
So, it' s a matter of what you want. All roms are in a good level. There are more infos at the original post(1st post) of every rom.

oki then i need to find them. they are in here? in some post? i will need som help with this.

You said you searched. The roms threads are all in 1st page of Ideos developing section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068766
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149150
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152240
and franko' s kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166560

Never start with miui.First give a chance for oxygen or cm7.Because after miui, the others look like so simple. You will not want to use these after miui.

[Q] MultiBoot & ICS

Unfortunatelly I don't have permissions to reply in this topic, so I created this one.
I have Installed CM7.2 (from Quarx) on stable recovery and ICS to latest recovery. I use multiboot for this.
Everything worked good, but one of the newest version of ICS has newer kernel, so after I choose it phone just stucks at Moto logo...
So I have 2 questions:
1) Is it possible to get working new ICS on multiboot?
2) If no, how can I delete ICS from latest recovery and install there other firmware?
Thanks

Nope its not possible to have the newer versions including 111207 on multiboot!
to get rid of ICS in the latest boot you can just flash an other .zip over it, like miui or stuff...
hope it helped, greetz Esok
It is possible
Yes, it is possible. The only vital pre-requisite is to upgrade the main CM7 system to 2.3.4 kernel version.
But before, take care of:
1. The 2.3.4 kernel has some issue regarding camera, specially green lens (I think it doesn't work yet). Red lens work great, after a few work around with some overlay libs. (all this stuff very well described on CM7 thread).
2. Once you upgrade the kernel, you could install CM9 latest test builds.
pros:
- both systems running latest GB kernel (remember be sure to use 2.3.4)
- great to have CM7 and CM9.
cons:
- be sure to fix your camera in CM7. (of course, hope you have red lens )
- in my case: CM9 boot, but it doesn't detect the baseband (if I check "About phone" Baseband details show "Unknown"). WiFi work Ok.
I really appreciate any advice in this last comment.
Happy holidays

DroniX

Hi
im new to android ..
i own a ideos u8150.........and i have rooted it with z4 root
I also have managed to install clock world mod 3.0.2.4 i flashed it through pc (works perfectly)
now i want to change my stock rom ..i' heard ideos HD and droniX are good roms
i'd like to install droniX 0.6 raw ginger ..
but can anyone help me in flashing the rom i need a guide..
also how can i make full backups so i can revert to my stock rom anytime i want..
Does switching to custom roms affect baseband of my mobile ..
because of a picture i saw in a blog that says "baseband version :unknown" in mobile settings .
i have been a apple user and to jailbreak you need to preserve your basebands so is there anything like that in android
i have also read that after flashing dorinX .6 many see a black screen ..how can i prevent that..
i've also installed rom mangaer free version from market but its useless because everytime press any option it tells me to install colckworld mod and when i press install a list of phones comes up but u8150 is not in the list only 7 options.......
Thankyou
You won't get much love here as this is in the wrong forum, but here is a link to my rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375289
You dont need to use my rom, it just has flashing instructions in the first post.
*Good luck with ginger, it is still not stable, so maybe stick with 0.5.4.
*Baseband is not changed by flashing roms in CWM, only by official huawei update software, find a copy of yours before flashing if you can.
*CWM has the option to make a NAND backup under backup and restore.
*Dronix is good, Leandroidmod is ok, Ideos HD seems to be deprecated as I had bugs which I reported and have not been fixed so I switched roms. Has not had an update in months.
Here is the wiki page for u8150, have fun:

[Q] New defy, want to get ICS/MIUI on it, help?

Hey
I just got a brand new Defy and I'm hoping I can get ICS on it. However, in my country there's no T-Mobile, Verizon, Orange or whatever, I bought it in an electronics store, so I have absolutely no idea about what CG version it is. I've already read the beginner's guide from top to bottom, but I still have some doubts:
1. How do I know which CG version do I have? (I need to know so I can know how to get back to stock in case of warranty)
Nevermind, I found the answer >_> CG 4 SBF 3.4.2 (Froyo)
2. I've seen lots of ROMs for this device, but their instructions aren't very clear and I don't want to brick my device (which, from what I've read it is very hard to do) or get stuck in a higher CG version.
3. The beginner's guide is cool, but I haven't seen any tutorials on installing a specific rom (in my case ICS) so, I'd appreciate some pointers here, if possible
Thanks in advance! =)

I have a defy+, so i have 2.3.6 on it. But you don't need to flash any new firmware to get ICS or MIUI, since they both have froyo builds. CG version only changes when you flash full SBF, not when installing zips and custom ROMs. So you shouldn't worry about getting stuck on a higher CG.
So what you need of course is a rooted phone , the SndInitDefy_2.0.apk (to install custom recovery and bootmenu because of locked bootloader), install the latest bootmenu (don't mind installing the old one although it might work on froyo). And there you're ready to flash! (to enter custom recovery on your defy, reboot your phone and press the volume down key when you see the blue led) I assume you know how to use the custom recovery, so I won't go into detail on that.
Since I haven't flashed any froyo ICS builds before, I don't dare to tell you how to myself! So just head over to the main CM9 ICS thread You'll find a guide in the first post. Nevermind, i'll just quote it here:

How to flash ICS (Defy Builds)
1:Head Over To Stable recovery
2:Wipe Data
3:Install Zip from SD Card
4:Select ICS(Defy) .zip
5:Flash
6:Flash CM7 Kernel
7:Clear Cache and Dalvik Cache
First Boot will take some time...

You need to flash Google Apps seperately through recovery. You should find the files and links needed in the thread linked above. Know the difference between the Defy+ builds (with gingerbread [gb] kernel), and the Defy builds with froyo kernel.
Please note that ICS for defy is still in it's early stages and you might experience bugs. But most people still think it's worth it! xD Sorry if I made it too detailed for you, but then others can make use of it too! Oh, I hope I haven't said wrong that will soft brick your phone! Flashing the wrong kernel always gives me bootloader error! Anyway bricking really isn't that scary (only the first time i can confirm) It's good to have an SBF with RSDLite and Drivers installed on your PC just in case
Oh! And then If you want MIUI, just do the normal wipes and flash the ROM. Let me recommend MIUI Pikachu edition by TweetyPeety, the best MIUI ROM out there! It even has the touch based AROMA installer in recovery where you can customize the installation!
I was wandering if there is any advantage in flashing a newer kernel (either CM9 kernel or a GB full SBF) on defy if I'm using CM7/CM9/MIUI
Also, I tried CM9 without flashing the kernel, and it works, so I can't figure what difference would that step make. How does changing the default kernel affect the use of custom roms? Any hit in performance/usability? Would I have to use Defy+ roms if I flash CM9 kernel?

I think you shouldn't flash new kernel for CM9 since it is in alpha
it is better to keep on CM7.1 and wait until a stable version from CM9 (unless you are a real HW or SW developer)

LeWa OS ROM - Any Fans or Insights?

I've tried a lot of different Rom's for my ZTE Blade and so far I find LeWa ROM is the best of the lot.
I'm currently on version LeWa ROM V880 12.03.22
I see there is an update but for some reason can't seem to download it from the phone and install it.
So far this ROM has been the very best mix of being stable, fast and look amazing.
The menu system is the best I've seen.
I would however like to get rid of the lat bit of Chinese writing and have the entire ROM in English.
Anyone else a fan?
Anyone else managed to upgrade to a newer version?
Their website looks so professional but it's all in Chinese so I'm stuck
I'd post the link but I'm not allowed to post external links
BTW I just noticed my possible mistake - on the offical LeWa website there is a U880 ROM and a V880 ROM I think I tried to install the wrong one last time "U" instead of "V"
Anyway I upgraded to the very latest version of this ROM for V880 ZTE Blade and it works great.
Although at first boot the lock screen was totally unresponsive and none of the key would work but booting into ClockWork Mod and wiping all the various data nd caches solved the problem
This is by far the best looking ROM I've ever used on my ZTE Blade and that includes ICS ROM's.

A big problem

hello guys i'm from slovenia so and i don't know very well english to apologise
i have a big problem with my huawei i installed the cwm and wiped then i try installed cyanogenmod 9 but there was a problem installation was not successfully i was very confused so i downloaded the original 2.3 firmware from huawei.com and i paste orginal boot.img and recovery.img in pink screen then i try to instaled it but i've have pitcs but why i followed the instructions ( i formated the sc card and paste the rom in it) and then is a warnig whin an triangle update failed
so can anybody help me and tell me what can i do to fix this
Thank you !!!
wowww, wait a little.where did you find a cyanogenmod 9 rom? was it from another phone? if yes, maybe that's why the installation failed.
also, everything else you did was kinda wrong
i bet you can only try installing the official 2.3.5 firmware following the instructions included in huawei package and after that if the phone boots up correctly there are a lot of users here(including me) willing to help you
it was for this phone for the pro version and everything so what are is you'r proposal to do here ? can you give me please an custom (clockword and root images that you use and a rom that actually works i've have the pro version
Thanks !!!
I have the pro version too. I think I can help you.
Well the cwm I use is this one: http://sourceforge.net/projects/genoandroid/files/recovery5.0.2.7_en_u8800pro.img/download
Geno made it so big thanks to him
As for working Custom Roms check the U8800 Pro Android Development Section, try any ROM you want and just stick with the one that suits you better Be sure to try out aurora(from sakura), kalo rom, gkalenis rom(it has tv-out) and if you can my roms
Anyway.Try using the custom recovery.img I gave you with the boot.img from the rom you flashed(if the phone boots you are good to go). If the phone doesn't boot reinstall official firmware
so if i understand you for example i just downloaded you first rom and recovery that you gave me now i replace the recovery and that boot.img that is in MoihackB572GBFinal.zip ?
almost.replace with the boot.img from the cm9 rom you flashed previously(it's inside the zip file)
sorry i didn't make this clear
make sure the phone boots after replacing those files in pink screen. if it boots correctly everything else is pretty easy. the important thing here is to get your phone work again
Moihack you'r a genius it actually works and i lied it wasn't cm9 it was cm7 from geno ''cm-7.2.0-u8800pro-Geno-120604-final'' it's chinese-english but it works. so i have a question now which rom do you advise me and thanks a lot !!!
well glad i was able to help! you are welcome
my 2nd rom is based on the cm7 you tried but is free from all apps(only basic ones left) and is actually a pretty small one(about 60mb).you can try it if u want to
now the roms i like is the aurora ics from sakura(it is pretty stable and fast for ics) and horse absolute (made by gkalenis). horse rom also has tv-out option but you have to downgrade to 2.2,re-root,install cwm and flash it in order to work properly(otherwise camera use will cause reboot of the phone).
anyway.if you like ics, feel free to try aurora (don't try the official ics from huawei yet)
if you want froyo and tv-out go with horse rom
if you like gingerbread, well try my roms
btw i am cooking another 2 roms these days(a mokeeOS and a miui 2.3.30 ) so keep an eye on u8800 pro development section if you want
