I tried out an HD7S for a while and was pretty suprised about a app for the HD7 that showed the HD versions of youtube vids.
I was wondering if there was anything for the HD2 that does the same thing since its basically the same phone. Was trying out a video that I tried on the HD7S and even on high settings on the HD2 it looked like crap.
Thanks guys.
Grifter024 there no app for the HD2 with HD YouTube. I have a HD7 as well as the HD2 and yes there's a difference on Video Quality. When I use the HD2 I just use the stock Youtube app that came with the phone.

Another video.
This time he's uploading a video directly from HTC HD to youtube.
Apparently HTC Touch HD is the only WM device that has the feature of uploading videos captured on the device directly on youtube.

well i currently have a desire SLCD version and i really love it, however yest i got a pretty awesome offer which will allow me to jump to Desire HD free of charge
i tried the device myself for few minutes, i found it beautiful but having read some reviews i have some concerns
few reviews mentioned unlike the classic desire the Desire HD have problems playing back 720p videos even mp4 ones, this essential for me since i have my portfolio already encoded in 720p mp4 and runs perfect on my desire and don't want any stutter when i present it (Ad agency people will jump n say get an iphone you loser)
did anyone test the SD card speed with the desire HD? the classic froyo desire had a software issue with the SD card read ahead speed which was solved by patching the kernel, is this related to the video playback issue on the desire HD?
my second issue, reviews mentioned heavy digital processing in the camera produced photos, the desire had the same issue but i used to simply lower sharpness to -2 and the digital processing gets turned off (noise blur and then oversharpness) hence i was able to get beautiful almost analog like photos using the standard HTC camera app, do we have a similar negative sharpness setting in the desire HD camera and does it disable the image processing?
thanks for all the help
.mp4 files play very well even in 720p. It's the bitrate that might give you some trouble, but any reasonable setting (it's 4.3" after all) plays very smooth. Add the DLNA clent and you get an awesome player.

I'm deciding weither to get the MT4G or wait for the Desire HD and I had 1 question. I know you can't video chat with the Desire HD but can you receive video chats via qik or any other programs? It seems the only feature missing on the Desire HD is the front facing camera, other than that it seems the Desire HD community is a lot more happening. Thanks!
There is no network video chat with froyo. Rumours say it will be enabled with gingerbread.
You can however video chat with fring.... so I presume other apps would allow it to.

Well? Try it out! The new Desire HD builds can do it, but I don't know if the older "normal" Android builds can or not.
Just fire up a CUDA baseline 1280x720 with minimum settings -- if it plays smoothly with a stock player ("system mode"), congrats, your HD2 now does HD, too. (Hah, see what I did there? )
Report your findings! I don't have enough free space on my computer or card to try it myself. Plus, this greatly benefits y'all. Maybe.
old old OLD news
I would be more exited if it could record in 720p but i think thats not gonna happen

Really? Are you saying standard Desire (NOT HD) ROMS could play HD with hardware players? Can anyone confirm?

It does in the latest HD builds, but the video comes out screwy. It DOES show that with the right software, the HD2 is perfectly capable of capturing and encoding 720p in realtime, but actually getting the software and drivers to interface properly is another story...
I never understand questions regarding playing 720p on HD2.
Recording, yep I understand.
As far as I know HD2 has only a 480x800 screen.... doesn't look HD for me.
So playing HD, Full HD... on an SD screen. Really I don't understand the advantage. For me it's same as plugging a Blu-ray on a 20 years old TV (ok... I go out ).
the advantage here is, that you don't have to transcode any downloaded movie (up to 720p) to the lower res - just to take it with you on your hd2 for the trip. also, you don't have to download separately movies for home and mobile entertainment. so, the feature basically save your time, storage and bandwidth. and if the USB-host on HD2 project goes right (it's in the beta phase), you could connect the USB2HDMI type adapter to play the vid on the big screen wherever you go with your HD2.
ok understand now
do any builds have 720p recording and if so which ones?

I prefer the Windows Mobile camera over the Android camera.
I'm a unicorn.
Nuff said.
I prefer windows camera because it records videos in AVI format, android records videos in 3GP format.
Why do you make discussion thread in development section?
First off, I'm a total n00b, no programming skills whatsoever, I don't know diddley 'bout how to tweak android. I just got s o o o fed up with my WM 6.5 HTC HD2. Installed GBX Hyperdroid (running 12 now) after a few f.u.'s and rereading the tutorials I got it to work. (...!)
I simply can't convey the joy of having Android on my Leo. Finally it works like I imagined a 1 Ghz processor phone would work. Simply awesome.
Except the camera. That's not up to par. As a vacuumcleaner however, it'd be great. It sucks bigtime.
I've scavenged the market and downloaded lgcamera (free) by rubberbigpepper. It allows you to set resolution for photo and cam seperately and gives options for videoformats (3gpp or mpeg4), video encoder (default, h.263, h.264, mpeg4) and video bitrate ( 100Kbit up to 13Mbit). I'm still experimenting with what will or will not work. If I get the trial version up to par, I'll be happy to pay for the pro version.
Just my $0,02.
