I can see quite interesting topic on this forum. All to better me understand my new XDA II. Well, I bought it from my friend, so its technically a new-used PDA phone.
As it is my first PDA phone, i'm quite happy with my purchase. Not the fastest and latest gadget, but still quite popular from where I live.
For a new user like me, would you kindly let me know some helpfull tips?? For example, as I bought if from my friend, should I perform a full reset? There isn't a problem or glitch that I can see off, but any advice will do. Or maybe some application/software that is nice to download??
I stumble into one problem though. It concerns with the camera. The manual says that I can take/record video. (p.148 of the manual) But if I go to the camera mode, there is no way to change into the video mode. Where is the Video Capture Submode? can someone can verify this?
I think that's enough questions for one day... i welcome to your advice and suggestions... tanx in advance...

PD: Sorry! I foget "???" in headline...
knobody can tell me if developers will use UK version?
first learn to speak decent english... its very hard to digest the meaning of what you are asking & moreover, you are asking something which no one has.... why do you need that NFC technology ???
once it becomes popular, then you can think of that.... you know there is a technology where you can use this NFC function on SIM card.... i dont remember where i read it.... if that NFC method becomes so popular in your country, this technology will also become popular & it will be available for all....
till then dont worry about the NFC & better start learning some simple & understandable english pls.... or ask an apology at the end of your post.... atleast

I know what he was asking, no need to try and be pretentious.
I don't know the answer to your question. It depends what country the developers are in etc.
It also depends upon the devs having access to the SGS 2 . Buy them one and i am sure it will be worked on .
Devs are a hobby not paid for they do it in their spare time and have to buy their own phones .
Russian devs but Russian SGS UK devs buy UK SGS .
As the SGS 2 is barely released who knows about NFC yet .

Thanks everybody...
Sorry again for my english.. maybe is not normative.. But it think that somebody who knows english can understand it..
It's okay, your English is alright. It's not intuitive to understand but it gets the message across.
We do not know which areas will be getting NFC versions, when they will get them, or how incompatible they will be with each other.
If stuff for one version works, or is easily modified to work on the other version then there will be no problem. This is what I believe to be likely, but have no way of confirming. After all, we do not really have any details about the NFC version.
Personally I would not worry too much either way.
I think no matter it has NFC or not, only if it is i9100,roms will be compatible.
Or in another word,if the ROM of NFC version is not compatible with non NFC version, the name of NFC version won't be i9100.
At the Samsung Galaxy on Ice event in germany they said that the NFC version will only be available in Korea.

you're a bit of a twat aren't you? instead of asking him to apologize for his lack of english skills we should be asking you to apologize for being such a pedantic asshole. this is an international community with members from all over the world. expecting everyone who comes here to have perfect english skills is unrealistic. lastly, i noticed that everyone that appears to be native english speakers had no problem figuring out what he was asking.
Let's get the rules out here.

4. Use the English language.
We understand that with all the different nationalities not everyone speaks English well, but please try. If you're really unable to post in English use an online translator, You're free to include your original message in your own language below the English translation.

Well clearly he tried, I know a forum post can be rude quickly since emotions/facial expressions can't be read but still, think about what you post.

Be nice, be helpful.
By the look of it, this device seems way too awesome not to get a lot of developer support. Plus by the sounds of it, a lot of the SGS kernel work with regards to CM7 will be portable across here? I'm definitely going to be trying to get my hands on it! (Not that I count as much of a kernel dev, but we will get some real pro devs for sure! )
As to NFC or no NFC versions, they will probably be a different model number if it requires kernel changes. The kernels will probably be very similar anyway and easily portable between different SGS2 models, as with the SGS1. Except for the non amoled/exynos cpu versions, which would have very different drivers.

Well I am not a rom dev but what I wonder is this: can't NFC or non-NFC be solved with seperate drivers or does android require it in the kernel? Am I thinking too much windows now?
I just bought my first ever Android device. This SGY is far not the best ever phone, but it was cheap and I kind of see it as a toy
I wonder how to have a cROM with my native language? All cROMs I can see here are in english. This is doable but not convinient. There was already a thread with a similar question but the answer is unreadable and the link isn't working anymore.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=676042
Is there a "change language in cROMs for dummies" somewhere - or can we create one here?
regard,
crunchy
Translate the ROM
there are many guides over CDA to help, not too hard too

somehow it is hard. Most things shown in google are related to music CDs or a political party in Germany. If I add "android" it tells me how to play CDA music on android phones.
I don't think this is what I am looking for.
But "translate the ROM" helped. I found this thread here
jBART - BurgerZ Android ROM Tools --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736409
I will have a closer look at this.
Thank you.
If anything better is around (or jBART not working for Galaxy Y) please let me know. Thanks.

i think.. he meant to type XDA and not CDA... it's a typo..
SGY has a small screen.. and X and C are close on the keyboard. :|
hello, i am novice android developer.
first, sorry to my English is poor..
I make call recorder with Galaxy S2 and S4 now. so i used Voice_downlink.
But it is not working.
I found that. but i can't find solution.
I find downlink is sometimes sealed by manufacturer because of hardware chipset.
if seal is true, i want to unseal by editing kernel source or S2 or etc...
my S2 is rooted.
please give me solution who knows. I'll very thanks to you and pleased.
Thanks to read my thread!
