Flashing NAND - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Yes i have read faq thread, endless times. Installed all kinds of stuff with easydroid etc
Still, how am i supposed to install nand droid when it comes as structurized directory?!
Like from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010498
there is no Daf/install exe in there. IF i try run daf from mag directory i just get errors like 3 more guys on forums who still didn't get any answers.

Well you may have read one thread but that isn't enough. Loads of people ask about this lack of daf.exe in the new ROMs. This is because they are flashed via clockwork mod. The ROMs are not to be unzipped, but transferred straight onto the root of the SD card. See this thread.

Thank you! Just thank you so much! Hope it will be more visible in those threads.
How to flash ROM:

Maybe there is link to this guide somwhere in that thread, but those are links you see first there.
Edit: LEO "Stock" NAND Android ROM, this was also confusing, since it is nand and is installed via same old daf exe

Android on SD setup

I received my HD2 yesterday and have spent most of lastnight and today reading thru the threads and other sites.. but i have used this forum in the past for my other phones and know i can find good links and tutorials here..
I found plenty of Android setup links and NAND information.. but i want to setup a dual boot. I have found that there are differnet ways to do this, one is installing Android on the SD and being able to just open the OS from my windows file manager. Then there is another method that allows you to select the OS when you boot up your phone.
Do both ways require me to flash the phone? Or is there a method to accomplish the dual boot without any mods to the windows OS portion? I am fine with running the Android OS from my file manager as i just want to get a feel for the OS and decide in the future what my main OS will be..
If there is a sticky thread that has all the steps for both methods that will be perfect, as most everything i read were just other threads other members have started. Also, what are the latest most stable files available today for this?
thanks..

try the "search" feature !!
already tried thanks for it reply
Well so whats the problem? you already know the answer. Just download and setup AOSP on mSD and run it though file manager or do it via bootloader for RAM version. In your case I would SUGGEST you go flash your stock rom to custom rom if you want to heavily use it if not you can use custom WM rom specially designed for AOSP with alot of functions removed.
So go with dualboot WM6.5X(NAND) + AOSP(mSD) and see how you like the flavor before you switch to AOSP fully via NAND.

At the moment, the only real dual booting is available via Magldr, with WP7 on NAND and Android on SD. If you're not looking to try WP7 then forget about that. You just need to look into getting Android running from SD, booting from WM6.5, which is the way we were all doing it before Magldr and NAND builds came along.
All the info you need is in the HD2 Android SD Dev forum, and it's a lot simpler to get going than a NAND version, as it involves nothing but copying files and running a couple of exe in WM. You can then get a "bootloader" for WM that offers the choice of running Windows Mobile, or Android. (This isn't really a bootloader, as it's a Windows Mobile app, so Windows Mobile is already running. When you select to run Android, it dumps WM from the memory and loads Android instead. It's a bit of a blag to call it a bootloader!)

use this until you flash mgldr:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
then go to this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044830
because nowadays many roms use cwm method instead of daf.
and you can use this tool for many parts of your work:

This is the developement section, for questions (and answers ) there´s the Q&A forum.
I met your problem before. Finally i tried to flash ANDROID_BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA_Desire HD A2SD V23 then success.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16270840&postcount=3
Now I can flash anything what I want.....
Also you're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a short subject title that describes your problem and a message that explains in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it. Some more info may help people help you with your problem.
Since you are new take a moment to read the Forum & Marketplace Rules. Don't worry too much about posting in the wrong section (as long as you post in the correct sections next time)...a mod will move it to the correct section soon.

Didn´t mean to be rude
So now let´s hear, what setup you have, what you wanted to install and how you did it, i am sure we´ll find out where the problem lies.
I think you haven´t partitioned the NAND correctly, let us see a link to the build you are using as well.
What about your Radio ROM?
Did you partitioned your SD card corretcly?
What about your partition layout?
Simple sequence
1. Install HardSPL 2.08
2. Install Radio 2.15.50.14
3. Install MAGLDR 1.13 bootloader
4. Install MAGLDR_CWM_Recovery
5. Install your preferred ROM

Then you obviously havent even read teh roms instructions properly because all the roms that need a partition specifically tell you to partition your nand and what partition to use.
Also if you are having issue installing a rom you should at least tell us which rom you have been trying to install.
And in future try and put a title that makes sense. Putting "help" doesnt describe your topic in any way. Titles need to be descriptive. If you want to say help, say it in your topic.
one quick note, when formatting your card, set the allocation unit size to what is set by the rom builder. forgot to what i set mine, but that can cause a lot of problems.

Some Advice Please

So a friend has ah HD2 where his old colleague flashed Android, dualboot. This was maybe around Feb. Now he wants a newer version on as the froyo version hes got drains battery fast and wants a new rom.
Ive never flashed a HD2 befor but have done other phones incl hero, desire, desire hd, o2x, sgs2.
Now this looks confusing with dual booting mode with nand, magldr, clk etc but given instructions I should be fine
So how would I update hes existing Android version to say miui?
Can I delete winOS totally and have Android?
Possible of completly bricking phone beyond repair?
Any recommendations etc
Thanks
It's dualbooting Android and WinMo 6.5 or WP7?
Oh. Well, it doesn't make a difference. Find a SD build, download, on SD delete Android folder, unpack new one in place of his old Froyo, ta-dah. Done. No chance of bricking, no playing with clk/magldr or anything.
I hope he made a backup of his stuff.

No, it does not delete wm6.5 completely if you are running android from the sd card. If you wish to keep wm6.5, install a new android sd rom like you did previously. The dev of new rom will most likely state whether the data.img is compatible coming from another rom.

I didn't flash his phone, it was his ex colleague. He asked if its possible, to completely remove Wimp and just have Android. Is this possible with miui?
Sure. You will have to install magldr or clk, flash a new radio probably and HSPL.
Then find a NAND build that suits you best and follow the instructions to install it.

How would I know if its magldr or clk? Also after deleting winOS is possible to comeback anyhow as a failsafe?
If there is just pure WinMo 6.5, there is no magldr or clk yet. You have to choose which one would be better.
OK. If you want to install Android and ONLY Android, clk would be better. If you wanted to have WP7 or WP7 + Android, you would have to choose magldr. But you don't, so clk is a better option.
It's VERY easy to come back after failing something. Except installing a wrong radio to a wrong device, of course. Or if something is broken inside. And it's hard to fail anything anyway, but... well, is possible.
Ask any questions regarding these thing, I will try to explain you these things and show you tutorials. Of course, finding everything for yourself would save us both time and would be more rewarding, but don't worry, I will not bite you.

Running DAF from magldr folder is where you have been wrong besides from posting your tragic story in the wrong section of forums, thread reported to mod.
Download a recovery for your phone (Most roms available now do not use the older DAF method but the CWM [ClockWork Mod] method)
After installing magldr, go to usb mode, download a recovery, run DAF inside the folder which you extract/download from recovery thread. Your phone shall reboot, Now select the AD Recovery and a new menu should come up, go to storage and mounts and then select the mount as mass storage. Copy the zip file you get from the ROM thread or whatever source and paste it in the removable drive that shows up on your computer/laptop after having selected "mass storage" option. When transfer is complete, wait for a few seconds and select the unmount option on phone, go back once more to get to the main menu, select install from zip, select zip from sdcard, select the zip file you just transfered. If all went well and you downloaded all the right files, when you select reboot system, your phone should boot into android.
If you need further help, post in the rom thread regarding the problem you face.
