Changing Splash Screen with root/S-on? - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I changed the splash screen on my phone while it was rooted/s-off. I had to s-on to send it back to T-mobile next week. Issue now is I've got s-on but the splash screen is obviously not the stock one it shipped with.... Is there any way to change the splash screen while s-on?

no... changing the splash screen is changing a system thing, which requires s-off and root.

[Q] Htc Magic, Display is black

Hi,
i have some new problems with my Htc Magic.
First of all, some facts about my phone:
HTC Magic 32B from Vodafone Germany
Android 1.5
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0007 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
Yesterday i was able to flash the sappimg.nbh and now my magic is running on Android 1.5.
But i have still problems with a black screen or/and a not reacting touchscreen.
The Provider-Logo and the Fastboot Screen is in 90% the cases black and only the background light is on. After that booted, i can see everything, ROM-Boot-Animation and the UI from Android, but then the touchscreen doesn't react.
So my Problem is, that the Provider-Boot screen is black and that the Touchscreen doesn't react. Is this a Hardware Problem or Software?

Use that rom and then tell if that works for your touchscreen issues. If not then i might need to be repaired.
Also as for your fastboot black screen problem try this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529019&highlight=hboot
A new hboot & spl might solve that problem. I'm thinking something just borked lol and now you're getting blackscreens so nothing big.
As for your splash image problem try flashing over that as well with the same stock splash image or....spice up your phone with these

Removing Branded Splash Screen Logo

Hi, I just found this guide: Downgrade to HTC Froyo WWE for AlphaRevX (HBOOT 1.01.0001)
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132028
After Step 2 it says, This will downgrade your ROM version to HTC WWE Froyo for Wildfire (unbranded).
If I do this will it get rid of the Vodafone splash screen at start up or will I need to use AlphaRevX s-off before I can do this or will this debranding process do the job of removing the vodafone logo with out using AlphaRevX. I just want to get rid of or change the splash screen and keep my original HTC installed rom, thanks
I dont think that will remove the Splash Screen. Yes, it will remove all other Vodafone bloat like their own apps or stuff, but, AFAIK, Splash screen removal needs S-OFF.
Refer to this thread on how to change splash screens: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127914&highlight=Splash
It will remove the splash screen. It got rid of my 3 splash screen anyway.
HTC Wildfire
HBOOT: 6.01.1002 S-OFF
ROM: CM7 Stable 7.1.0 RC1
Kernal: 2.6.35.13-nFinity
Yes it should remove the branded vodafone splash screen and give the HTC splash screen.
Every ruu will have its splash screen, and ruu will overwrite the splash screen during the process (AFAIK). The file will be like "splash.nb0" inside the rom.zip of ruu.
But to have a custom splash screen you need to have s-off.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Sorry for delay in posting back as I've been away, thank you all for your replies, I will give it a try.
how looks the original htc splash screen?

[Q] Can't flash stock rom, freezes at updating bootloader

Is my phone fried? When I turn it on it's stuck at the MT4G splash screen. I boot into the bootloader with PD15IMG.zip in the root and attempt to update, but it just stops at updating the bootloader. It just stays on the updating screen saying it's updating the bootloader. Tried both stock gingerbread zip files with the same problem.
When I select Recovery, it shows the MT4G screen, then the green arrows and picture of the phone, then it shuts the screen off and vibrates 7 times. I have to remove the battery to reboot.
If I select Factory Reset, the phone just freezes in the bootloader.
Here's my bootloader copy:
GLACIER PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.89.0005
MICROP-0429

eMMC-boot

I'm posting this because I didn't see anyone with the exact same issue and I didn't want to give up on it just yet. Any ideas or suggestions?
7 vibrations mean HW failure. Your phone is screwed.
