Hi, I just found this guide: Downgrade to HTC Froyo WWE for AlphaRevX (HBOOT 1.01.0001)
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132028
After Step 2 it says, This will downgrade your ROM version to HTC WWE Froyo for Wildfire (unbranded).
If I do this will it get rid of the Vodafone splash screen at start up or will I need to use AlphaRevX s-off before I can do this or will this debranding process do the job of removing the vodafone logo with out using AlphaRevX. I just want to get rid of or change the splash screen and keep my original HTC installed rom, thanks
I dont think that will remove the Splash Screen. Yes, it will remove all other Vodafone bloat like their own apps or stuff, but, AFAIK, Splash screen removal needs S-OFF.
Refer to this thread on how to change splash screens: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127914&highlight=Splash
It will remove the splash screen. It got rid of my 3 splash screen anyway.
HTC Wildfire
HBOOT: 6.01.1002 S-OFF
ROM: CM7 Stable 7.1.0 RC1
Kernal: 2.6.35.13-nFinity
Yes it should remove the branded vodafone splash screen and give the HTC splash screen.
Every ruu will have its splash screen, and ruu will overwrite the splash screen during the process (AFAIK). The file will be like "splash.nb0" inside the rom.zip of ruu.
But to have a custom splash screen you need to have s-off.

Sorry for delay in posting back as I've been away, thank you all for your replies, I will give it a try.

Right so I just got S-OFF on my desire as many are doing atm and was hoping that people could post splash screens here . I like the AlphaRev splash screen but would like different ones to choose from. Feel free to post your favourite or home made splash screens, that's what this thread is for .
You can get the default HTC splash screen from the AlphaRev website.
All thanks goes to the guys at AlphaRev who made all this possible (Official Thread).

AlphaRev Splash Screen - click here
NOTE: TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK I am not responsible if your device becomes bricked or for any damage that may occur on your device(Hardware or Software). This is only for HTC Desire GSM rooted with S-OFF.
Quick Tutorial:
Download the splash screen
Save the splash.img in C:/android-sdk/tools
Reboot into Fastboot
Open terminal window and change directory to "C:/android-sdk/tools"
Type in "fastboot flash splash1 [splashname].img", without the " and replace [splashname] with the actual name of the splash eg. desire_stock_splash1.img

You could flash a custom splash screen.
My understanding is that the first splash logo for NAND Android is still the WM splash, which can be changed by flashing a splash screen.
Check out my sig for some EnergyROM-specific splash screens or the WWE splash screen. Or, you could send me an image via PM, and I'll make the custom splash screen for you.

That screen is not connected to android, it is the bootscreen or splashscreen.
Google "change hd2 splashscreen"
Splashacreens are flashed just like winm
o roms or radios.
Flashing a stock winmo rom should change it,or if it only changes the first few seconds, then that image is the secondary splash.
For technical details see the "watermark your Leo" link in my sig.
THX
YES"
the first few seconds is the HTC screen"
but after the few seconds.......................................................=(

I changed the splash screen on my phone while it was rooted/s-off. I had to s-on to send it back to T-mobile next week. Issue now is I've got s-on but the splash screen is obviously not the stock one it shipped with.... Is there any way to change the splash screen while s-on?

no... changing the splash screen is changing a system thing, which requires s-off and root.
