I already have my AOL email account icon showing on the opening screen (the screen that comes on as soon as I turn on my A7). Is there any way I can add my Hotmail email account also to that screen?
If so, how would I do that?
Thank you.

I set up the hotmail account but on the main screen (when I turn on the A7) it shows the email icon, but it has the email address listed underneath. I just want the name "Hotmail" to appear. I tried to change it but it keeps showing my homtal address. How can I change so only Hotmail name will show?

#1- So, there is no way I can change that name/title on the Main Page? As I mentioned, the first email icon I put on the main page shows the name/title underneath as AOL, but the Hotmail one shows "my name @ hotmail." I would rather it just show "Hotmail." No way to change that title/name?
#2- I've read on the Internet that A7 is supposed to have 8GB HD. Mine shows total of 4GB. Could that be correct. And is shows only 1.5GB remaining. What could have used (or be using) the other 2.5GB?

Ok, Ive played and looked for a way to do this and i cant seem to get it? Does anyone else have more then one email in the email app, and if so how do you switch between email boxes? The only time i can look at a different box is when i get an email and the phone alerts me i have an email there?!
Press the menu button when you're in the e-mail application.. it should give you some options.
Nope, just select all, Folders, Compose, Refresh, Email Settings.....I checked all not in there

Hi,
I have an issue that I'm not sure how to solve.
I have a Gmail account that I access via the TF and my X10 phone, and my laptop.
When I do things like delete mail from my laptop gmail, and then I open up gmail on my TF (or my X10 for that matter) those same emails will still be there...I have to manually delete them from my android devices.
Is there a setting I'm missing that needs to be set differently?

How long are you waiting between the moment you delete the e-mail(s) from your laptop and the moment you check your devices to see if they register that the e-mail(s) are actually gone? When you access your Gmail account from your laptop are you using the web-based Gmail page or have you setup your favoured e-mail client to receive them instead? If you're using the web-based method then try waiting a few minutes for your Android devices to catch up to the latest change, it should eventually sync the changes.

That's weird , after only a minute or so of making changes to my Gmail account such as changing a message's label my devices usually have caught up by then. The changes to my mind should get sent to your TF when you next connect to WiFi, or if you're already connected it should get 'pushed' within a minute or two. As for how often you 'should' sync your folders, your choice .
Well maybe something is set wrong on my android devices....
I can be out...delete a read email on my phone, an hour later go to my TF or my laptop and have to delete the same email from there.

Try the other way round, i.e. delete an e-mail or make some other change like a label change on the TF first, then check the phone and tell me if anything different happens.
I take it that you are not using the Gmail app?

Dave

That went really fast...maybe one minute or so. I deleted it off of the TF and within 1 minute it was off of my phone and I checked Gmail on the laptop and it was gone too...
Maybe it's only when deleting from the web version that it takes a while to be gone from the tf?
I'll try again...maybe this was all my imagination...or there was just a temporary glitch.

In the TF?
Yes. right from inside the TF...not the web based one.

Check the account sync settings on your phone, perhaps your phone isn't currently set to auto-sync any changes or new stuff to your account.
The only thing this sounds like is that you have syncing turned off.

I mean the TF app called "Gmail" as opposed to the one that is called "Email" - the reason I ask is that you are talking about IMAP and the Gmail app does not use IMAP.
Regards,
Dave
The IMAP settings are in my phone...not the TF.
I'm not sure what's going on now...it seems to be working fine....I think that there was a setting wrong and I also wasn't paying attention to what was going on...
Hi guys.
When I first got my S4, I decided to use G-Mail like I normally do. I turned off the notifications for the stock E-Mail program on the device, and used G-Mail.
Now I want to switch back to the stock E-Mail app. However, I can't figure out how to get the notifications back on. I tried going into the settings on the program, but it looks like "E-Mail notifications" is checked, so it should be working.
I went to the App manager and checked out the info for Email under the "All" tab. The "Show Notifications" has a greyed out checkmark next to it. Not sure why it's not green, but shouldn't it still work? Not sure why it's not giving me notifications.
When you went to email settings, did you click on your email addy to get to the rest of the settings? Just asking.

Yes, I did. You know what though? I just got a notification for an Email. I guess I was just surprised that it took so long. Took about an hour, it seemed. I tested G-Mail and it seems like it takes 3-5 minutes at most to get a notification for an e-mail I changed the settings in the default Email program to sync every 15 minutes.. I'm thinking that should make the notifications come more often. I wish it had G-Mail speed though. Main reason I want to use the Samsung program is for the SmartScreen features. Hopefully there will be a G-Mail app w/ SmartScreen support soon.
the Gmail app will push emails down. The standard doesn't do that for gmail unless you set it up as an exchange account, and instead poll's the server at a set interval that you can select.

It would be nice if I could select 5 minutes, but the minimum is 15 minutes apparently. How would I set it up as an exchange account?
Add a new exchange account to sync with. Where it asks for server, use m.google.com. Your username / password are the same as normal. Thats all

Hmm I tried doing this but I'm getting a Setup could not finish message "Unable to connect to server". I tried to make an exchange account and it automatically chose m.google.com. I used my normal username/PW. Not sure what the deal is. Do I need some kind of certificate?

My friend has the same problem, he uses the stock android email app, there he has both his company email and gmail. He never gets notifications for emails, only when he manually enters the app, then it shows the new mails. If you find any solution please post it here so i can forward the info to him.

On the email app where it says security type for SMTP. If you're using a TLS type, try selecting STARTTLS (Accept all certificates) instead of just SSL/TLS option.
This solution worked for me.

Check the push frequency? Otherwise it may be on the end of your email provider. I know when I worked at 3M and tried to push emails to my phone, I got maybe 1/3rd of the emails. It really could just be the company :/
