[Q] Touchscreen problems - G1 General

My G1's touchscreen stopped working recently. It didn't appear physically damaged but i tried replacing the digitizer anyway.
However even with the new digitizer, the touchscreen still does not work.
Also my message light, compass and accelerometer no longer function.
Any ideas? Would you reccomend replacing the flex cable?

flash some other rom cook to testing
i have trouble with touch screen with some rom
if the same trouble i think hardware have something wrong
ps: sorry for my english

touchscreen not working due to water damaged?

Hi,
I replaced a not powered on main board with one that has sign of water damaged (although I'm not sure), everything seems to work fine after except the touchscreen. So I want to ask if anyone might know any fix for it? Could it be some incompatibility issue between the board and the screen?
I'm now stuck at the Android "Touch the Android to set up" screen where I can't do anything without touchscreen... Any keyboard might let me get through it?
Many thanks

Mainboard the Culprit

For weeks, hell months now I have been reading through threads about HD2's not responding to touch. I had just about every sympton everyone else had.
-touch would work then not
-soft reset would fix problem
-reload to OEM specs, temp fix
Finally like most, my phone stopped responding to touch too. Must be the digitizer. So I aquired another HD2 and went about my life. Some months later I aquired a third HD2 with a bad charging port. Everything else worked fine. So I took the main board out of the one I orginally had with the bad digitizer and swapped it with the one having the bad charging port. Guess what...the touch doesn't work after the swap. So I swapped back and it worked!!!!!
I then took the original LCD and Digitizer which I though was bad, hooked it up to the mainboard with the bad charge port and volia!!! Digitizer works. I left it like that a few days and it worked fine. I have and induction charging system for the phone so I used that to charge while I performed my tests.
I did lots more swapping and testing and my final result is the main board from my original phone is the culprit of the digitizer not working. Digitizer from both phones always works when hooked to the mainboard with the bad charge port and never works with the orginal mainboard.
After all the threads I read through I haven't seen anyone else with the mainboard being the problem/solution to the digitizer not responding so I though I would share. Keep in mind, even though the digitizer didn't respond with the bad mainboard, all other functions worked. The hard buttons responded, I could answer phone calls with them. I could communicate with the phone via USB, etc.

[Q] Touch screen doesn't work...now what?

I dropped my phone and cracked the screen. So since I've did that, the touch screen doesn't work. I went to get the screened replaced and went to test it out and it still doesn't work. What's not allowing my touch screen to work after getting the screen replaced? If I change the screen does is the digitizer attached to the screen so therefore it will get changed too or is it a separate hardware?
Most likely faulty replacement part.
Try downgrade to 4.2.2

Hi, I've purchased a cheap diplay at ebay. Touch didnt work any more.. after a number of tests i found out this was due to a HW test at boot. When downgrading 4.2.2 everything works fine. Any upgrade 4.3+ failed to enable digitizer after reboot.
PS: When booting eg 4.4.4 with the old digitizer connected and then connect the new digitizer w/o rebboting the the touch was working well.. I'm very interested in geting a confirmation or reason what causes this issue kindly keep me posted
Most replacement screens use an original LCD (recycled from a cracked screen) fitted with a copy touchscreen. Either the incompatibility could be deliberate on LGs part but I think it's probably due to a driver update or something which has broken compatibility with the reverse engineered touchscreen. It could also be a coincidence, some copy parts are prone to just not working for no real reason sometimes.
Hey DrFredPhD
Can you imagine a costum rom with the old touchscreen drivers from 4.2.2 into 4.4.4?
What would this require: To compile a costum kernel? The drivers would usually be in compiled form in the boot.img, right?
I've tried to flash 4.4.4 with the old boot.img from 4.2.2. - but the phone didn't start (as expected..)
Can you imagine someone how could help me in this regard? I think there may be a number of people facing the same problem..
Anyway, thanks for your help - Greetings :good:
Binaries are available for nexus 4, maybe compiling from AOSP with older binaries would work, but you might break functionality too.
It's been done on other devices but probably not for the reason you want.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/drivers#makojdq39
So what are you essentially saying? Put the mb in a good working nexus and see if it works or that maybe the tech put a new digitizer with the old rom driver onto an older mb with a new rom driver? And that could possibly cause conflict with drivers or roms? Which in turn will not allow my screen to function?
The part he put on is crap, if you put a decent replacement screen on it'll work fine.

Are you sure? Because I don't wanna regret spending money on a new screen and it doesn't work.
I've seen phones damaged by a repair bad enough that the touch will never work, but I've seen far more copy touchscreens that are useless.
Hi Guys
Just to say: may bad fake faulty touch "per se" works well under 4.2.2 and updated 4.4.4 also! It just prohibited "start" the phone with this digitizer attached! Both, phone and digitizer are fully functional and "compatible"..

HTC HD2 Touch screen stopped working

So I bought a HD2 with bad touch screen. The issue was the very common one that every one knows, red button that was poking into the touch screen flex cable. I opened up the phone and fixed the issue and touch screen was working perfectly fine. In the process, unfortunately, I chipped a little edge of the front glass/digitizer. It was not a big deal as phone was still working fine. But I decided to buy a new front glass.
When my new front glass arrived, I separated the digitizer/front glass from LCD, but then half of my LCD got corrupted. So I ended up buying an LCD too!!!
Now comes the issue: when I put the phone together, touch screen doesn't work at all. I have tried all combinations of NEW / OLD digitizer and NEW / OLD lcd. Nothing works. I wonder if anyone can help me figure out why?
P.S. When testing, I happened to connect the phone to my 5w wall charger directly connecting it to power pins (without battery installed). Would that be why I lost touch? Is the touch issue now because of motherboard that was directly connected to adapter, not getting power from its designated battery?
have you tried the old lcd with old digitizer (which was working)?
tried it before replacing?
did you made some change to the software before replacing?
I currently have this problem too while trying to revive my old- almost 3 years inactive- HD2 with new touchscreen, and still trying to figure out where is the problem

Yes I had tried the old LCD, and that didn't work either.
I installed a WiFi Keyboard on it.
Did you resolve this issue?

Issues after lcd replacement ALE-L21

Hey guys,
I replaced my broken lcd and touch screen with new one. Since then when I boot into recovery the touch is not recognized in the stock recovery and in the twrp recovery it takes about 15 seconds to respond to the touch.
This didn't happened before.
Is this a software or hardware problem?
Thank you.
most likely it`s hardware ,the compatible replacement may doesnt have the same flex configuration or its damaged.

It works fine after system boot up. But sometimes I have to keep touching the screen with one finger and use another to use the touch as usual.
