Hi,
I replaced a not powered on main board with one that has sign of water damaged (although I'm not sure), everything seems to work fine after except the touchscreen. So I want to ask if anyone might know any fix for it? Could it be some incompatibility issue between the board and the screen?
I'm now stuck at the Android "Touch the Android to set up" screen where I can't do anything without touchscreen... Any keyboard might let me get through it?
Many thanks

Hi,
I have got serious problem with my Hermes. When device is "cold" everything is working ok but after 20-30 minutes of using i got problems with screen.
It looks like screen alignment problem but i can't fix it with any known method. I have written simple application that shows me that top left corner is always pressed.
I have disassembled device to see if its really problem with chassis and its not. When i turn on device without chassis i got same problems.
I'm thinking bout buying new digitizer without LCD but i don't know if i could exchange it by my own.
How do i combine LCD with digitizer in Hermes? What tools i need?
Thanks for any help.
Hi to all,
I have strange problem with my Elf. My screen stopped responding and I thought that the problem is the digitizer. Hard reset didn't help. I ordered a new one and changed it. Unfortunately the situation remained the same. So I got the same working phone from a friend and decided to change some parts to find out where the problem is. The result is..
My front panel(with the new and after that with the old digitizer) connected to the working phone - not responding screen.
My phone connected to the working front panel - not responding screen.
I have no idea what to do. If anyone can help. Exclude the warranty.
There is a small battery on the motherboard. Does anyone know its functions?
I have a suggestion that it is something like cmos battery of the PC.
My idea is to remove it for a while and make new hardware initialization.
I am not sure about that.
I doubt that there is something with the touch screen controller(TSC2046). Is there any way to reset it?
Hi.
My screen just suddenly died, but I don't think it's a hardware problem, cause while starting it up I get vibration-response from it when touching the screen, but when PIN is asked the screen just don't work.
Any idea how I can fix this?
Thanks for any help!
No image at all + touch responses working = dead lcd display, but working digitizer. You will require a new screen module to replace it.

Hi and thanks for answer.
I get image and I get response on the touch until the PIN-code is asked, then the response goes away but the image is still there.
Any idea what might have gone wrong and how to fix it?

So you are saying the LCD is working, and the touchscreen is working?
Either your software is jammed or your touch-calibration is way off.
Either way, a hard-reset is the easiest way to resolve your problem.
There is no problem with the "visual screen", I see everything I used to see (so the LCD should be OK). It's just that it won't "recognize" or "answer" when I touch it, after a while.
I start it up, and everything seems OK. When "Windows Mobile 6.1" is shown the phone vibrates when I touch the screen. That means that it recognizes my touch, so the hardware should be OK. But when the PIN-code is asked, there is no feedback in vibration or anything when the screen is touched. The touch is just all dead, and the numbers I press won't come up or anything.
So, I think it's a software fail. I'm running one of Dutty's older ROMs, could that be a problem?
Can I flash it to another ROM with the "dead" touchscreen?
I tried to hard reset it now. Still the same problem, no response on touch.
The question : is it a hardware or a software problem.
Assuming it is a software problem - a hard reset would have solved it (since it worked before)
So the likely problem is the digitizer.
Yeah, it must be the digitizer. Is that something I can change / replace / fix myself, or do I need to send it to repair?
Thanks for help btw!
Hey Volks,
Today i realized strange display issues with my HTC Touch HD. The ROM on it was original by the Provider (Telekom Germany) so i doubt it is a Flashing issue. I attached a screenshot for reference. Now my question: Seems this to be a hardware or software issue? Is flashing something that could solve this issue? If it is a hardware issue, would it be a good idea to repair it by myself? (i'm not complete stupid ) - What needs to be replaced? It seems that the touchscreen himself is working (pixels changing when pressing on the display).
Greetz,
Matthias
hi dude,
this seems to look like a hardware issue.
but..
i would flash a new rom or hard reset to check if it is software issue.
if the problem still exists after a reflash or hard reset, i would open your device and have a look for the problem yourself (its not rocket science )
you want to check the ribbons that connect the LCD to the motherboard.
(ribbons are clamped to motherboard so make sue you unclip the clamps that hold the ribbon in place, now check them for damage, dust or dirt)
be carefull though because the ribbons can break easily, trust me
after cleaning the ribbons, checking for damage etc, if device is still displaying like pic, i would buy a new LCD.
(ebay is the best place to go for a new LCD, it is best to buy an original LCD btw)
Hey my Touchbuttons on the bottom don't work.
I allready did a hard reset but it did not help.
Is there any way of a homebutton build into the software (like some androids have it)`?
Thanks
So, you can use the rest of the touchscreen (digitizer), but not the buttons on the bottom. I admit, I have this issue on my SparkW once in a GREAT while (both of them that I have used), but the entire digitizer stops working and I have to yank the battery to restart the phone, then it works fine.
Just the bottom buttons not working is weird though. Have you ever taken the phone apart, perhaps to install a higher capacity SDcard? Maybe a digitizer wire got loose then....
...other then that, warranty the phone if you can, if not, maybe you need to replace the digitizer?
