for some reason, my wife's nook has started having a crazy issue. It is acting like the top left corner of the screen is getting pressed all the time. when playing angry birds, the pause button keeps pressing. even when the app drawer is open it keeps opening the angry birds app, the first one in the top left corner. on her home screens there is nothing in the top left corner. also, when she is in the "nook" part, the top right corner is pressed making her turn the pages uncontrollably.

Sometimes the touch screen is WAY off and only restart is fixing it. Noticed this 2 times already.....
I've noticed this too. I was using the browser, and my screen presses were registering as all sorts of random things (like pressing the middle of the screen would press the zoom button). Restarting the browser seemed to fix it.
Add it to the nexus one issue list.

that's from a lack of multitouch. your hand is probably just barely touching the lower corner of the glass. when you press again in the middle, it registers on the softkeys. it is one of the things I *HATE* about this phone. I always seem to be touching the screen on the very edge. you almost cant use it with just one hand.
I find that I do that with my HTC Magic sometimes as well, the 'webbing' between my thumb and index finger sometimes touches the corner of the screen and brings up the 'app menu' in my left hand, or the 'add widget' menu in my right hand (sense ui). Just another general thing about touch screens and their placement
the four touch buttons arent that accurate. didnt have this problem on the droid. i rarely miss it there but on the nexus is becoming 50/50 chance of it not registering.
Lol how are you guys holding the phone, i always use it one handed and havent expirienced this, i guess everyones different.

This not necessarily a problem with this phone in particular. It is a phenonema that happens on all capacitive touch screens (that do not have multitouch). I work with them all the time (much larger scale) and the slightest touch on a border results in what appear to be calibration issues.
Multi touch takes into account for this, non multitouch does not.
This has happened to me also. Same exact thing, in the browser, the touch was way off, really way off. I was pressing the middle and the zoom button pressed. It was on the table so I know my other hand didn't touch it. It was also vibrating sometimes when I pressed the middle of it. Restarting seems to have fixed it for now.
happened to me in SMS and browser and the only fix was restart the phone.....so its not me accidentally touching the screen in another point.
ps. its so bad that i couldnt even use touch screen to power off the phone. i had to use track ball. (now i know why its there )
I've had this problem as well as other with touch screen. Sometimes I will hit an icon on the main screen and it will jump screens. When I'm in the menu's i hit one of the options and it goes to the one underneath it. I'm CLEARLY hitting the option I want and not the one below so it is infact a hardware problem in my case. I will be in the browser and hit a button and it will exit out of the browser, very annoying! Mine is unlocked but I wrote HTC so lets see what they say.
its a known prob with this phone, ppl are complaining all over Google forum, its very annoying, when it happens it doesn't just happen in the browser, also in text message n home screen ect...

Webbed fingers are gross.
I have now experienced this definitively once. It happened while using the dolphin browser. I wiped the screen off, set it on a table, poked with only one finger, and could not for the life of me get the software keyboard to click on the correct button. Just wouldn't happen. Had to restart the phone to fix it. But it's only happened once since I got the thing on launch day.
^ same thing for me. Does the OTA fix this, I have not received it yet. Wish I saw this before I created a thread, sorry.

i dunno, but touches (especially multitouch) seems ALOT more responsive and accurate than before i did the new update... i used dolphin prior and pinch zooming seemed jittery and like the phone didnt want me to do it... now everything seems smooth as butter!
obviously this is only short term though, but hopefully this fix will also address some of the calibration issues (that i also experienced) that the N1 has been known to have...
I have had my n7 for a few days now and apart from the screen being a tiny bit raised on one side it has all been good. Turned it on a minute ago and the screen went mental, about a quarter of the right hand side showing up on the left and then flickering from side to side. I tried turning the auto brightness off and it stopped flickering but it left the screen with a bit of the right stuck on the left side. After a few minutes trying different apps I clicked on music and it went away.
Anyone else had this? Video drivers maybe?
Stock rom by the way.
Nook Color Feedback
----------------------------
Hi,
This is what I am encountering with my Nook Color currently. (Arm7 version 2 cpu)
I'm not sure if any of you guys experiencing some issues with the Wifi connection. I encounter that my Wifi network keeps dropping and disconnecting.
I have the touch screen issues, so I loaded up the Developer options show touches. I experimenting the touch screen.
I flip my nook color (where the n button is resided at the right hand corner, facing the east), the touch screen cannot seems to move and response to either of the back, home and taskbar buttons. (bottom edges)
I flip my nook color over again, (where the n button is resided at the left hand side, facing the west), the touch screen cannot seems to move and reponse the back button. (bottom edges)
Now, I flip the nook facing me. (where the n button is the south position), I loaded up some apps to type in something with the keyboard. There are some issues that I noticing, I cannot press the Backspace button, the P button, the . button, the - button,
the q button.
Once I connected to the internet, I encounter these problems. My entire touch screen tends to freeze up. The touch screen is not responsive. I cannot even power down the nook.
The touch screen keyboard too wasn't responsive at the right and left side of the edge.
I do also encounter phantom touches on my nook color touch screen. Downloading the Nook Color Calibration didn't help solving this issues.
I come across some weird errors such as "Unfortunately, cmupdater has stopped", "Unfortunately, google search has stopped". etc etc..
I would suggest you do a clean install and see what happens. It seemed to me like your partitions were corrupted somehow.

Hi...
I did a clean install.
And nothing seems to work.
How do I fix the partition?
You mean the SD card partition?
Or was it my firmware corrupted???
How do I go about doing that.

Here is my dmesg file for my nook color using CPU Arm7 revision 2.
So I've been getting ghost or phantom touches on my phone for the past few weeks. I couldn't figure out what was causing it because I've never dropped my phone and it never got wet. The phantom touches only appears down the right side of the screen in almost a straight line. It doesn't happen all the time and I thought it was random but I got it to occur at a successful rate. If I press down on the top left corner of the screen, it would cause the phantom touches. When I press and hold down the top left corner of the phone, everything is fine and no phantom touches appear. I decided to tighten the screws on the top left and it seems to have made it a little better. I'd have to really tap on the top left of the screen to make the phantom touches appear again and it doesn't occur at a 100% rate but it's still occurs.
Anyone know what is causing this? I thought it would be a broken digitizer but it doesn't make sense that tightening the screws would cause the issue to almost fix itself. Problem with the geomangnet? I'm not sure what that does really.

Put 2 (or more) fingers on the screen of your Note 3 in a horizontal line in landscape mode. You can also use Portrait mode with 2 fingers.
Move the fingers slightly about, trying to have both (all) in a straight horizontal line.
After only a bit of trying one (or more) detected fingers should disappear (become undetected) or ghost touch detections should appear.

Thank you for the help and suggestion but I've already tried this. My touch screen is fine in terms of detection. I can put 10 fingers on the screen and it would recognize all 10 fingers. My issue has something to do with the top left corner of the screen affecting the right side of the screen. Like something is loose. When I clamp down on the left corner of the phone, everything works fine. No ghost touches (that sounds dirty) or any of the sort. When I let go of the top left corner, I will some times get ghost touches.

It's not a firmware issue. It's definitely a hardware issue since it starts tapping on buttons inside TWRP recovery. Ah well, I tighten the screws even more and it looks like the phantom touches are gone. Hopefully it stays that way even though I destroyed a screw in the process. Those tiny things are fragile.
if the touch ghost click is in some certain location most because of pollution (mainly chemical), best is use ISO alcohol also use a very tinny sharp blade, like a very thin one and slightly go along side the place that does this, sometimes you have to try both horizontal and vertical, then clean with ISO, do a few times it does alright. it does work on most of touch screen include note 3 as well. I've been in IT and fixing all electronic for last 30 years in New Zealand. if you had problem text me on 021 548484
Hey guys so recently my GS5 has been acting all messed up.
The bottom of the screen has been really un-responsive and every now and then, the phone starts freaking out, tapping a bunch of things. (for example, if the keyboard is open, it would click on every key a bunch of times near the bottom)
My phone is almost un-usable now. The only thing that could have messed it up is that once I was playing around with a suction cup on my screen, could that have messed it up?
If so, what should I do to fix it?
Thanks
