[Q] Battery Question - XPERIA X10 General

Hello
one anticipates my english is very bad so I will write about the google translator.
I have some questions about the battery consumption of my X10 the only way he holds about 12 hrs. I listen to music every day 2 hours with him and am often times Facebook and check my emails.
Is there a way to increase the life span? Perhaps a custom rom if so which ones?

Battery life

Guys
I dont know about all of you but I have spent the best part of a few days trying to be tolerant with the appalling battery life.
to set the scene: -
- it is a native orange build (upgrade from them) it has exchange activesync emaill and I have tried it with and without push activated (10 minute polling when not constant)
- It has one other e mail account - Hotmail, which is connected to sync every 2 hours
- it has NO other applications of any kind, it is not used for GPS, browsing etc (a deliberate ploy for me to see if the basics work) and the battery life is a complete joke, if anything it is worse than my previous WM devices. a full charge which is disconnected from the mains at 10am in the morning means I am down to a single bar by around 6-30pm. in this time I have checked mails on occasion, had about 30 min worth of calls and thats it basically
I, like many people on this forum am a seasoned user, but I would expect a minimum of 1 working days use (say 12 - 14 hours) and this is just not the case.
I will be returing this phone under my 14 day policy, but as one last try, I just wondered if anyone had something really obvious I was missing? all of the settings are 'out of the box' and i have used tweakHD but I must confess I do not want to have to mess about with the settings too much and quite frankly I dont see why I should, unless this type of performance is considered normal these days!
any thoughts guys?
regards
Kerry
12. Disable 'Beam' in Settings to conserve power.

I'd do the same too if I were you. A complete rundown of the battery on not so heavy usage in 8 hours is definitely not standard. Might be defective. Your battery should last you at least 14-16 hours on that type of usage. Oh and one other thing as an after thought, you mentioned the phone was new. Did you run the battery in a couple of cycles yet? A complete charge and a discharge of about 4-5 cycles sets the battery in its paces. Fyi.
I would take a look at these two threads.

thanks for the replies
thanks for the replies, I will study the replies and get an exchange unit based on the comments.
It has had three full charge / discharge cycles in the last 5 days, it wasnt difficult given how fast the battery ran out!
thanks so much for the help guys

Mine also didn't last for more than a few hours on the first week, cause of the excessive playing around with the new toy, but after that I get 2 solid days on average usage with 2 bars to spare before I put it back on the charger.

battery problem

Hello people i have a 614c navigator but i notice the battery it lasts one day or two. Is´t normal? It was a gif from christmas. Is there a program to make the battery last more?Or i have to buy a new battery with more capacity.
If you people can help-me thank I am new in this world of pda, there are some program that you find that it must have in 614c say
Tks and sorry my english
A day or two of moderate use is about normal, at least for my device. If you want it to last longer, consider using 2G instead of 3G, switching off your bluetooth, or turning down the brightness of your screen. If that's still not enough, consider a new battery.
You could try installing the updates from hp's site i wrote the link down for you. --> HP reference

Bad battry life... anyone ?

Hi guys, I have my omnia 7 for less then a week now and I found it's battery life terrible, the worst performance ever. It drys off in less then a half of day with general use. I fill the battery to 100% over the night and then I wake up in the morning at 5.30am and when I'm back from school sometimes it's allmost empty, sometimes is at about 20% with a usage of About 15 mins of gaming, some browsing/facebook.. few calls and sms and an hour or two of music playback.
I have wifi, bluetooh, push mail, feedback and locations off. Have also been reading on the social.answers microsoft forum about that and there were different tought. I'm wondering how is it with yours.. is it REALLY this bad or it is something wrong with my phone/battery. I don't want to take it back if all are like this as it will be at least one week on service.

mine is on par with any other smartphone ive owned. i can get 24 hours out of it comfortable. thats with about 30 mins calls, 15-20 sms, 30-40 mins gaming, wifi, bluetooth, location & feedback all turned on, windows live & facebook hourly sync & 5 email accounts syncing between every hour & every 2 hours. i have noticed battery life seems to suffer when i use last.fm over HSDPA so maybe its something related to music playback. but even with 3-4 hours of last.fm im still getting 13-14 hours.

mine is running fine.
1. exchange mail
2. google mail
3. facebook sync
4. average 10 minutes surfing
5. 10 minutes game
6. less than 20 sms
7. average 10 minutes voice call
morning 9AM full charged and at least 60% by 8PM
ok thank you guys for reply.. I'm deffinetly taking it back for a replacement on monday.
It could be some app running under the lock screen draining your battery, like a game or Last.fm... other than that, yeah, sounds like a replacement is in order

Nothing running in background. anyway I'll take it back in monday and ask them for a replacement if not, I'll have to wait a week or two to get it back from repair service... trought I hope to get it back till new year.
Maybe consider just buying a new battery?
you should definitely ask for a new battery first, before sending it to service. In the end all is made in China... P.s. My bat. lasts the same as descibed by the others. 1-1,5 day...

giving 390€ with 24 months of contract, using the device for one week and you really think I'm as dumb to buy a new battery as I have 1 year warranty on battery and other accesories ? ... Really ?

Thanks, I'll see what it can be done..
my omnia7 leasts longer than my galaxys with data and email sync .. so no problem
Ok I was at my carrier and they said that the phone needs to be send on service (no replacement options) so I'll probobly send it after new year.
But I notice that when I'm at home (I live about 7-8km out of the city) my battery last muuuuuch longer, actually enugh for what I expect - 2h of music, about 2h web and of market browsing (connected to home wifi + mobile data enabled connected on 3g+ full signal) and when I'm in school (city centre) it drys my batery much faster. Today after 3h with 20min of music and 5 min of web browsing it fell on less than 50% and few hours later on -20% and then it turned off. (same if connected to school wifi or just 3g+ also with full signal)... I really don't get it .
And many of my school mates have the same carrier but don't have any of this problem... might it be somekind of carrier transmitor selectnig bug with windows phone 7 or what ?
Things to note - browsing with WiFi requires less power than browsing over 3G - 3G browsing will suck out your battery a lot faster. (The phone will not use your mobile data connection if you're over WiFi) Also, depending on the lighting conditions, your screen auto brightness will probably also have your screen on a lower brightness setting in your house.
That, and I don't really recommened using your phone as your primary Music/Video palyer if you're serious about battery life - that does a good job of sucking your battery too, and you'll ntoice most of the people getting good battery life aren't really using it as their primary media player.
actually I tested it with using at home with same settings (brightnes to low, wifi/3g off/on) and I can see that when I'm in the city centre it sucks the battery in only few hours with data connection on and not connected to wifi so I assume that my operator wich recently updated it's network did something wrong as my school mates have noticed this too but none of them isn't using a smartphone on this network so it isn't so obvius. I temporary solved the problem with turning off data connection when I'm in the centre and turning it on only when I need it and when I'm out of the centre.
I also noticed my battery life sucked when I had the official twitter application installed on it.
Today I left it charging for 8 hours on my laptop and the battery meter barely moved, I removed Twitter and hey presto it started to charge properly.
Back to Beezz and now all is ok

Apps don't run in the background so it is pretty much impossible for twitter to be draining your battery if it is not open.
Maybe it was just a coincidence but as soon as I removed this app my battery started to charge.
Unless it was a one off issue with charging over usb.
my batterylife is the best ive ever had in a smartphone ... i need a custom rom on my galaxy s with android to get close to the batterylife of my omnia 7 ... i am using hsdpa with the same provider on both phones permantly and im syncing emails with them ... even with gaming (sims 3 or nfs underground) the windows phone least longer.

Not at all. There could me a memory leak in the .NET/silverlight runtime - even Microsoft developers make mistakes
Tbh, I have the Twitter app installed also and my battery life is as good as can be expected with a modern smartphone: 1.5 days heavy use (Music, Twitter, Facebook, web browsing & constant SMS/e-mail)
may I ask somebody for a favor ? Under the diagnosis (call ##634#) type *#2*# (battery diagnosis) and please check what does it say on the third screen at the last line "Result". For me it's "Pass/Fail". Might this "fail" mean it's something wrong with the battery ?
PS. after dialing ##634# a shortcut for diagnosis will show up in the apps menu... just delete it if you don't need it.
And to get to the third screen use the big arrow on the top =)

Best ROM For Battery Life?

I been searching for a while but nothing. The Rom I have now battery dies after 3-4 hours of usage... is there any roms with 6+ life... thx
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Doing what? The last two roms I've had give me about 8 days of standby, but probably 2 hours of browsing and 4-6 hours of talk. With light use during the day, I easily have 50% battery when my HD2 goes on charge.
My current ROM is here.
all cm7 have almost same consumption but u can ask the users of evey rom to know....
by the way ...wrong place to post ur question ...
The best time gave me Frankinstain Droid wirh 1st sense... it is really the best imho
HyperDroid CM7 is best choice for me. At the end of Day with bit internet surfing and 30 minutes of phone calling, it still has 71% . And it's every day the same percentage.
Modifications:
-Tasker profiles for disabling phone in the night, GPS turning on basing on app start.
-RIL Tweaks matching my provider
Important is, that you uninstall all unnecessary stuff like widgets you don't use.
Best roms for battery...
MIUI ROMS (NDT/LADY). The best batt life usually. Some Cy 7.1 roms last 8hrs but most dont. Just flash a miui and turn off gps and bluetooth when not in use...wroks for me...
I use Hyperdroid Cm7 [look at my signature below] with Radio 2.15.50.02 and i have the best battery life!
Ps: Wrong section to post your question mate!

+1 same me
Battery life depends so much on usage pattern ... I can't tell that often enough. My setup e.g. is primarily for business with primary use of push email, phone, bluetooth connection. Occasionally Internet, but only when Wifi is available.
So my setup is
- private APN (most ports blocked, so Market and many apps using non-8080 ports won't work)
- push email/calendar/contacts sync (Exchange server)
My experience is that "background sync" is a real battery sucker, so I switched it off (as described above, Market & Co. won't work anyway as long as I am on the private APN). With this setting, I can survive two full days, between 60% and 70% battery left when the second work day starts and around 20% left at the end of the second work day. Moving around (travelling) decreases my mileage, but I am always >50% after one full day.
Switching on "background sync", using weather and other fancy stuff brings me down to 25-30% after one day. I am using a Gingerbread ROM with Sense (Sense of Eclipse 2.0.0)

Not sure, but using what is in my sig, I charged today for first time since Dec 31. Very little screen time to be fair, but did have WiFi on continuously for WhatsApp and Gmail, had a few longish talks, lots of notifications, and a 40 minute audio chat via WhatsApp. Also a 2-3 hours of audiobook listening on Audible.
