good afternoon
I have an ACER Iconia Tab to 500 HC 3.2 and using the second method of this post (Revert OTA 3.2 back to 3.0.1) and gets the android logo and a yellow triangle, someone might say it is?
Or if someone knows how to connect this tablet in Windows XP
thanks
Did you remember to extract the zip file that was in that post? The file that is to be extracted is update_not_stable.zip. Once you extract that, there should be a file that is called "update.zip". Make sure that is the file that is on your external SD card.
yes, I put the update.zip on the microsd and also have put the update.zip for content if that, but it works.
thanks
So does that mean you got it to work? I'm not sure if I fully understand your last post.
my English is disastrous to use a translator to express myself. Did not mean that workers but does not perform the recovery
Could you possibly outline the steps your performed so far, and perhaps I or someone more knowledgeable than I can offer better assistance.
I followed the steps are:
1 - I downloaded the file.
2 - I've extracted and copied to the microsd (update.zip) formatted to fat32
3 - I turned on the Iconium and has begun "erasing cache beforing SD update... booting recovery kernel image"
4 - android robot appears with a band and then carrying out erde a triangle with an exclamation in the middle of the icon.
Hmmmmm, I can't see anything that jumps out at me as being some wrong.
The update.zip is still zipped right? You right clicked on "downgrade_not_stable", extracted that, removed update.zip and out that file (which will be unzipped) into the root of your external SD card.
There is also the off chance that the file you downloaded got corrupted for whatever reason. If it won't work perhaps you can try to download it again and follow the steps.
hello,
i have the same problem. I did the same : unzipped, put on the external sdcard the file and I have the logo of the bot with the yellow triangle..
I downloaded again and again, restart from the beginning and I can't downgrade.
someone has an idea why it doesn't work ?
Thanks
same issue with mine... not too sure why i'm getting the error as I've been able to do things with the SD card before, so I don't think its an SD card problem.
Not SD problem
I already tried with differentes SD cards. They all work, but unable to start the downgrading !!
Maybe the file is not compatible with my tablet. How can we check ?

What tab to you have? The A500?
Make sure that it is the file "update.zip" that is on your sd card. Make sure this update.zip is still a zipped file.
Other than that, I don't know what could be wrong. I did the downgrade with no issues.
Thanks for the answer.
My tablet is an iconia A500.
I unzipped the file downloaded, that gave an update.zip. I put it on the SD card. The tablet recognized the file but stop just after find it.
I have no idea whatelse to do.
TRy and try again.
Finally it worked !!!
It was a download problem in fact for me.
I hope it can help.
maybe i'll try downloading on another computer (this one has XP?) and see if that makes a lick of difference. this is getting frustrating.
Still no go. Even did everything just on the iconia and still get the yield sign when trying to recover during boot.
Hi , I did it right now and it worked , installed iconiaroot and CWM and all went fine, but I have another problem now :
external miniSD can't be seen anymore and I'm not able to install any custom rom . If I go to recovery and pushing "install zip from" : it always goes to E: directory sdcard (and it 's not found)
Is there anyone that can help me ?
Thanks

Hello,

Actually the prob is that i can flash through my pc perfectly .. but when i try flashing through Memory card it fails ( no file found and goes to tricolor) i have tried formating the card iv tried using 3 different cards a 256MB , 4GB and a 8BG .. but no luck with any dont know whats wrong ,
an i want to try a few new roms which are only available in MC flashing flavour
i neeed help 27 views an no reply yet
two things...
1. make sure the charge is more than 30 %
2. put the rom file in the root and should be named BLACIMG.NBH
I'm having the same problem as itschemistry, and unfortunately your answer isn't helping me either, drgopoos: my battery is fully charged, the rom file is named exactly BLACIMG.nbh, but on boot screen the message 'no image found' flashes up, and then leaves me with no option but to soft reset. I suspect I don't completely understand where my storage card's root folder is, so advice on that will hopefully solve my (and itschemistry's) problem.
If all else fails, I'll have to flash using my PC.
Bit of help will be appreciated.
Thanks,

You have already stated that you are following the proper procedure below. Correct?
* Rename RUU_Signed.nbh to BLACIMG.NBH and copy it to your Storage Card
* Go to bootloader screen
* A messages will popup, push power button to start flashing or Volume down to cancel
Have you read through the thread provide by deepakjohn above?
This above thread solve your problem? Let us know!
I had the same prob.
Tried with the Transcend card that came (8gb HCSD)
Also tried with a Kingston 4gb HCSD with no luck.
Finaly tried with a Kingston 2gb SD (no HC) and it worked fine.
Looks like you need to get a supported mem card as advised above.

yeah, i followed the whole procedure, but still i got the message 'no image found'.
i've now given up and flashed via USB instead a little later.
and apologies for not finding the thread that deepakjohn provided, i was searching in the wrong part of the forum. i did read it after it was provided, and i'm sure it would have helped in some way, but as mentioned i gave up trying to flash via MC.
good luck to everyone else.
Hi this is what is on my sd card when I put it in a card reader via the computer .
I have put the latest encore stable on it but I cant get the nook to update . I have tried holding the power and n button down in the described way but no luck . Am I missing something . Help appreciated please

You should say " unable to boot into recovery" instead of " unable to update to latest stable on sd card".
You have 2 options
1. Continue trying the magic combination of power/N buttons or
2. Boot into CM7 regularly then select reboot recovery from there.
Hi I have tried option 2 many times but doesnt work . I had come across a thread somewhere that talked about the u boot bin, that some only work for the inital install of cm7 . If I put a mult bin boot on the card would that work ? Regards
If option 2 didn't work, you can try option 1.
Hi I have had multiple trys with option 1 not working . In evergreens post it sayes that the soft boot doesnt work yet with the imag update only by the magic buttons .
How to update if you already installed using older version of the installer and don't want to reinstall (understandably):
•Get update zip from http://crimea.edu/~green/nook/update-genimage-1.3.zip
•Put the zip file as is onto the first partition of your sdcard..
•reboot into recovery (triggered by the keys, the reboot into recovery does not work yet).
•The new version would be installed and you are done.
•You can combine this installation together with updating to .32 kernel in one step. Just put the update-cm file and the update-genimage-1.3.zip to the first partition. Make sure there is still at least 1M of space left!
I deleted both updates off sd card went to parsus partition mangaer to check at least 1mb space and there was 4.3 mb space in the boot drive . I then redownloaded the files and thought I would retry . When I put the sd card with cm7 on it in the card reader to copy then redownloaded files in it only lets me put one file on. It sayes disk in destination drive full , first I tried with the http://crimea.edu/~green/nook/update-genimage-1.3.zip so I deleted it then copied the cm7.1 stable and it let me do that, then I tried to recopy the first one back on and it comes up with destination drive full, so it will let me do one but not both, though I originally had both at the beginning before I deleted and redownloaded and attempted to redo
I did try to update to the release candiate end of july but couldnt get it to happen either and thought I would wait for the stable but no luck either . I am so confused it should be simple it was simple when I first rooted my nook in June . I do want to be able to update regularly I am just not sure why its not happening . I download the files to the computer , put the cm7 in a card reader and copy them across ?? . Then try the reboot using a clock with a second hand I must of tried 40 times . What am I missing . Any help appreciated
This is what was originally on my sd card
update-genimage-1.3zip 1kb shortcut
I have redownloaded the file and saved it and I havent got the shortcut at the end which may have stopped it from updating ? when I originally tried .
If the update imager gives you so much problem, then why not create one from scratch?
Thanks Votinh I have redone a new sd card . The first time it didnt work. It didnt get past the penquin set up stage. I had loaded the image and the cm7 and the gapps altogether so I reformatted it . This time I just burnt the image and installed the cm7 first . When that was up and running I did the gapps and it did work . I am just going to try titanum backup on my old card and transfer across to the new card, just need to work out how to do the transfer . Thanks again. I have transferred mydata and. Apps very happy
Yeah, as I instructed others, do one at a time, it's un-convenience but it works.
Glad yours up and running.

Exactly... and that's also why I promote the use of adb to mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 to /sdcard/boot.... makes it easy to copy things to the boot partition for installing gapps and updating AOS... don't have to remove the uSD once its set up.
Good point!
A lot to learn, m8

Hi,
I did some wrong wipe using CWM, then I think my phone is clean now.
Now, if I press Power+ VolumeUp + VolumeDown buttons, I'll get to the pink screen.
Trying to connect to the PC thru USB cable, I'll get a Removable disk named "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM", with size of 239MB.
I tried to copy all 5 files downloaded from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370960 to /image/, or /cust/image/, or /cust_backup/image/ and the UPDATE.APP (from step 2, official 2.3.5 package) in /dload/ folder of a blank SDcard, but it still goes to the pink screen.
Any hint for me? I cannot download the official 2.2.1 package
Thanks a lot!
-- Edited --
I re-partitioned my phone before following this guide: http://android.modaco.com/topic/341374-custom-you-data-partitions-size/
My phone is the GSM version, not the CDMA (C8800) one.
I think my /system/ dir is also empty. Does it have anything to do with the upgrade?
Following this post I'm able to have CWM4 and Oxygen back.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18944228&postcount=4
Thanks.
But, still not able to install stock 2.3.5. Any hint on this? Thanks!

Did you copy the dload folder and its content to an internal or external sdcard? Sounds a bit like your phone doesn't find the update files.

I tried with the external sdcard. My card is 4GB, FAT32. Should that be the cause of this issue?
I also tried with the internal sdcard (/HWuserdata/dload/UPDATE.APP) but the result was same.
Is there anycase that my UPDATE.APP is corrupted? Could you please help check it's checksum?
Thanks!
============= UPDATE ===============
I tried with the internal sdcard ONLY (remove the external card), and it's working. Firmware update Step 2/2 - ~35% now.
THANK YOU A LOT!
Friend Averell I had the same problem. I solved it this way:
When the phone was off (black screen) after the "Step 2" update,
I pushed the Vol-Down key (not the Vol-up) and then the power button.
After this I left the power button, but I kept pressing the Vol-down for at least 10-20'', until a screen was shown which told me "Formating User Data, Formating Cache" etc.
After all these the phone booted ok and the stock ROM was activated.
I didn't even needed to apply the "Step 3" of the upgrade.
Try it and I am sure your problem will be solved.

I meant the internal 2Gb memory of the phone. Sounds still weird tho. Unless your sdcard has some exotic file system that the phone can't deal with (mine has fat32 and everything went well), I don't know what it could be. Maybe some wiser person could step up here. And check that you didn't use capital letters for your dload folder...Don't know if that really matters, but it could...
Thank all.
The problem seems to be at my 4GB SD card. I flashed 2.3.5 successfully with the internal card.
I tried another 2GB card, and it also work.
Thanks!
yesterday, i managed to update oxygen 2.3.2 r1 to huawei's official 2.3.5 with my 8GB Kingston card, and everything went well, but today when i tried to shoot video, camera stopped after 6 seconds, and phone said that sd card is removed, and i tried to restart phone, took sd card off from phone and formatted card in PC, but nothing worked, then i put another 2GB card in phone and everything is working again??!? weird.. maybe my kingston's warranty just voided last night. It's so typical to me.

You could just try re-formatting the 8Gb card and see if it works. I've ended up cleaning up the whole sdcard for a few times (I've usually had a small ext2 partion and wanted to start from the clean table) after which everything has been back to normal again (in windows cmd: diskpart --> list disk --> choose Disk "your sdcard" --> clean all --> create new partion and format the card) ..or you probably could do that in CWM recovery too...I'm just too used to do it this way...just beware if you try this, be SURE you choose the right disk or you'll end up deleting a whole partion from your computer's hard drive.

Too bad. But it's hard to believe that your SD card has something wrong in it since it works in your computer. Probably another unexplained weird software glitch again. Some people reported that they can access the sdcard but not being able to write on it, maybe this "bug" is in the same category.
Btw, have you tried any other ROM and if the problem still exist there?

ok, i tried card to nokia phone, and it works in there.. also it has been in huawei since beginning, so it has worked with official 2.2, B160 custom rom and with oxygen latest. But now when i changed to new beta 2.3 rom, it worked about a day. Maybe i have to wait one more month until final rom is released. Thanks sbasil for good advices.
Ok lets start from the beginning:
I was trying to upade from 2.2.2 official to 2.3 official and now i'm messed up because after the step : "upgrade sd card" my phone restarted and my usb cabel was still on and phone started charging, after that i tried to turn on my phone. It worked but after 20secs my screens freezes and cant do anything even turn off i need to take battery out, also phone not detects my sim card...
Any idea? My phone is rooted, have installed CWM5.0.2.3,but have no backup only public one...But i can't mount usb storage because i get error like "E:Unable to open ums lunfile(no such file or directory)
ANY IDEAS????
I can get to pinkscreen aswell
If you have an external sd card put the public backup there and try to restore via cwm (if you get boot till there). You can also try the update procedure(the dload folder and stuff) but put them in the external sd card! The phone should boot from there.
Anyway, better wait for more answers since I'm not the best in here.I just know how to flash some custom roms.

well it actually is an external microsd card
did you manage to restore via cwm?
P.S. if cwm doesn't see your se card go to advaced->reboot into recovery
should be able to see it now

When i do "reboot into recovery" my phone double restarts and 2nd time it turns on normally not into recovery...
Don't know why this is done, but I think we should be happy that your phone isn't bricked
Maybe someone else here can help you and provide better solutions than mine
Have a read through http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639761.
Has a link in it to how I solved my issue of constant reboots.
Also , since you can load pink screen, you can connect through usb and change your recovery to 5.0.2.7. That's the one i used. Make sure that you have a cust.img file in the "image" folder. That is where the recovery should be too but am guessing you already know that.
If for some reason you dont have cust.img you can find and download a generic version in these forums. Did not need it so I did not bookmark the post I found it in but I think it was the Kalo's Honor Port thread in the pro development section.
I have a tf101 and recently flashed CWM 6.0.1.3. I went to flash a new ROM but it says "E:Can't mount /sdcard" I have already format the partitions so I have no ROM installed and when I try to recover my backup I get the same error. I have ADB access and was able to (as far as I can tell) push a stock ROM to the sdcard but when I try to apply update.zip it still says it can't mount the sdcard. I have tried Easy Flasher, NVflash, and One Click Recovery to no avail. All of these options act as if they are working but the tab isn't taking the new information. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks.

Me to, and easey flasher didn't helped for me. Any ideas ?
Easy Flasher finally did the trick for me. I apparently had two bad SD cards or something. I finally found one that worked so that I could use Easy Flasher to load Stock ASUS ICS. The funny thing is that the two SD cards that wouldn't work worked just fine before and seem to work just fine now. I don't know what happened but swapping SD cards eventually did the trick.

I did it but nothing happened. Please write me what did you doing step by step. THX
1: Get a working SD card.
2: Hook your Transformer up to a windows PC.
3: Boot your tablet into APX mode
4: Install APX drivers. (can be found here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012)
5: Download ASUS stock ICS ROM. (also found here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012)
6: Put the ROM zip inside the asusupdate folder.
7: Launch Easy Flasher and select Flash ASUS stock zip.
8: The app should now open a DOS window and run a script... something like extracting blob and then a bunch of other stuff.
9: Once it runs its course your tablet should say *installation success!* or something to that effect.
10: Reboot.
Now I had to do this like 3 times before it worked and it turned out to be my SD card wasn't working even though it worked prior too and still works after this debacle. So if when you run Easy Flasher and the DOS window just blinks on and closes then try a different SD card.

In my case I just had to format sd card in fat32 with 32kb clusters. Just to be clear, you can't format sd card which is less than 4gb in 32kb clusters.Try to play with different clusters size and all cards 4gb or bigger will work.
