[Q] Improve speed of answering - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I'm more or less 100% satisfied with my Rogers HTC Magic thanks to carz and his CM7.1 rom, however I'm irked by how long it takes after my phone starts ringing to see who is actually calling.
I typically feel the vibrate/hear the ring, look at my phone, I see an option to accept or decline the call, but I don't see the phone number of the person calling or the contact for around 5 seconds.
I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations which would increase the speed in which the contact details and phone number to be displayed.
TIA

picking up the phone takes time

I have the german T-Mobile MDA-Pro with D1. (whytf can't I specifly that in my profile ?) I experience some strange thing with it. When I pick up the phone when someone calls me (by pressing the green phone button) it takes a while until the other side can hear me.
So whenever I answer a call (by pressing that green phone button) I will have to wait 5-8 seconds after the buttonpress until I say something or else the other side wont hear what I say and still thinks I havent answered the phone yet.
Yes! indead...I've got the same problem. is it a software bug?
I too have the same problem, and sometimes it hangs up the call even when I press the green button.
I've posted before and everyone has said 'Use the search'...I have and can't find anything relevent (don't think the search facility of this is very good).
Can someone PLEASE point us.
I really do miss the speed and efficiency of my XDA2s!
I have had some experience of this, it does delay mine was worse before I got rid of all th O2 tat, it is now liveable with, however it is cutting off when I press the answer button !!! OR IS IT after conducting tests using another mobile I found out that
1) the phone does not take very long before O2 divert the call to Voicemail
2) the phone starts ringing long before you know anything about it (its worse if the phone is asleep) it can be a good few seconds before it makes any indication noises
3) it carries on playing the ringtone after the call has been diverted which gives the impression that pressing the answer button is futile.
I have talked to the technical suppport of t-mobile germany and they told me they era aware of this issue and they will be releasing an update in Q12006 that will resolve this issue.

I too have this problem and for the moment while i await any future fixes from O2 or others, i am using the following short-term fix; Under phone settings I have changed the delay period before calls are forwarded to ansafone if unanswered (this works on O2 anywa). One problem with this is that callers may give up before they are diverted to ansafone if you set the delay too long
did this really resolve the issue I was talking about in my initial post ? (that when I pick up the phone by pressing the green button the caller can not hear me for the fist 10 seconds )
I have XDA Exec and kept getting confused why my GF always sounded confused and puzzled when I answered the phone, Id say "hello" and she would wait a while, then say "Hello? you there?"
I never realised it was MY phone that was cutting off my voice at the start of the call.
In regards to the delay ringing, and answering etc, I am giving all my friends instructions to bloody well keep ringing! I turn answerphone off normally as my phone is always on. If you want to speak to me, keep ringing till i answer, if I dont want to talk, ill reject the call.
Why ring twice and hang up? I could be doing anything that takes more than 2 seconds to get that damn phone out of my pocket, get it out the case, open it, see who is calling, press the button, damn, missed call.
Same problem here. I am seriously thinking about using this as just a PDA. I don't think it's practical to use a phone that only works some times. Somebody on HoFo said that the Universal isn't meant to be used as a phone, it can, but it isn't meant to be. I'm starting to agree.
I just like the idea of not having to carry around a phone AND a pda. I kind of hoped that's what the universal offers. But it kind of looks like it doesn't ...
Its a great phone when used as a hands free device, answers almost straight away, and has great volume unlike most hands free - my callers also comment that the line quality is excellent even if a few metres away from the phone.
I do always feel stupid though when using the phone as a standard phone, would feel more comfy putting a brick to my head.
I use the old phone ringer as my incomming call notifictaion and I hear my phone in plenty of time. The standard o2 incoming notification sound was useless. I don't know what T Mobile have but might be worth trying a different notification sound.
Cheers

Did anybody found a solution for this? this is very annoying.
Agreed, its just ridiculously slow - I worry whether or not I've hung up on people too, it takes a good few seconds before the line is actually dropped, let alone for the interface to update.
I've stopped using the "suspend" option and the phone seems to work like you'd expect (even on a cheap cell phone!). But the battery life is suffereing. Hopefully my new spare battery should be here soon.

You mean I should walk around with some spare batteries in my pockets.
I think my pockets are too small for so many things.
Does anybody knows if this problem is known to HTC? Is there going to be an update?
It isn't possible that a phone doesn't act like a phone in these features that are already working 100 years. I want to pick up my phone and talk immediatly
By the way how do I switch off the "suspend" mode?
What is the "suspend" mode and how do I switch it off?
Look at Settings>Systems Tab>Power>Advanced Tab
Uncheck to "Turn off device if not used.."
This will stop the "suspend" mode
eeek ! Now I know why I would need an extra battery ....

short missed calls converted to unknown entries in call log

I have observed one thing..whenever there is a short missed call and my phone is in locked state..it wakes up in 3-4 sec..if this call happens to be a missed call (only 1-2 rings heard on the caller's end), my phone doesnt recognize that number (even if it is present in my contacts) neither it shows which number i missed...so frustrating..any body else experienced this?
any workaround? i tried many registry tweaks posted on internet, nothing helped..hard reset my phone..but problem still there..
Same problem here, I suppose it's a bug on Phone part of the ROM, maybe it will be fixed in future versions. I try all the CPU performances and the problem persist.
It takes a little bit of time before the caller ID number comes through and get matched to your contact list. Depending on how many contacts you have on your list, it may also take a bit longer to find a match in a long list. So if your caller calls and ends call shortly, then the match may not be completed. It's not a bug.
But when my screen is on..i dont see this issue at all, i have checked many times giving as short call as i could..
i issue comes when the device is locked..so i think while waking the device up it takes long and there somehow it doesnt activate the callerid service, so the unknonw caller issue occurs..
When your screen is locked, your phone is in sleep mode. So it takes longer time to wake up first, then receive the call.

Recognizing forwarded calls

Hi there!
If i get a call on my SGS that is forwarded e.g. from my landline then there is a popup "forwarded call" on the screen for less than one second - then it disappears.
Thats quite short and my question is, if it's possible to set this popup stay during the entire call - maybe with a registry change.
My phone is rooted.
Thanx alot for your help!
Did you ever find and answer? I have the same problem with SGS i9000.
I will also be interested to show the forwarded calls on my other android phones

Evo wont always stay connected to a call.

The only thing done to this phone is the revolutionary root method to get the tether app. While making an outgoing phone call to 2-3 different phone numbers, the phone would buzz to show it did connect. Then about a second later the screen goes back to the dialer screen. Any idea's??? Thanks.
Does the phone number you're calling have a +1 or other international code in front of the number? The dialer really doesn't like that. There should be a setting in the calls settings for plus code dialing where you should be able to adjust it. But I haven't been on a stock ROM for a while, so I can only assume it's there.
You can call sprint and have them reprovision (re-activate) your phone, that may help. The fact that you are rooted shouldn't have anything to do with problems making calls, thats usually a network issue.
I've had the same issue. Make a phone call and before it even dials it goes straight to lock screen. Or sometimes it does dial then stops the call and goes back to lock screen. I'm on CM7 so I just figured it was a poor signal causing mine. Sense roms do not seem to do this for me.

Intermittent no in-call sound on incoming calls

Hi all,
I have a bone stock Moto G4 running Marshmallow and have been experiencing an intermittent problem when receiving calls, where neither I nor the caller can be heard. It's as if both of us have our mute buttons on, or as if neither of our speakers is working. The phone rings audibly and the call is logged correctly when I answer it, so evidently the call is "going through". All other sounds play normally; only in-call sound is affected.
When this happens, if I immediately call the person who called me, the call goes through and we can each hear each other fine; i.e., the problem only occurs intermittently on inbound calls.
If I reboot the phone, the problem goes away but eventually comes back.
I've seen numerous reports of "no sound during calls" posted here and elsewhere but most of the posts I've seen are pretty old, and don't seem to apply to my phone.
I posted this question over on the Lenovo site but I haven't gotten any responses so I thought I might also check with the experts here.
Thank you for any help.
Inbound Intermittent Call Ring
Hi,
I have a Zenfone 3 Max ZC520TL, with Android Nougat and the latest firmware (14.14.1808.121) running on T-Mobile network...
For the longest time I've had an issue with incoming calls most of the time going directly to voicemail, no matter how many bars I have...
I've been researching this for sometime now and most blogs (after they recommend advice on fixing the issue), want you as a final resort to do a backup and perform a Factory Reset...which people say didn't work, so that's wasted time...
I have an extremely easy fix for this which will take you about 30 seconds...
All you have to do is change your 'Preferred network type' from 4G to 2G...you can do this by going to: Settings/More/Cellular networks/Preferred network type...tap Preferred network type and choose 2G...that's it!!! Your phone will now ring every time there's an incoming call unless the number is blocked...
By choosing 2G, you may lessen the internet download, upload, movie and video watching speed and image download speed in texts but increase the signal range...I personally am willing to give up image in text speed to receive incoming calls with no issues...
If you want to download or upload or watch movies and videos from the internet or download images in texts instantly, just change the 2G setting back to 4G temporarily...
I hope this post helps and saves others from spending hours looking for a fix for this issue.
Cheers,
Vinny
