New to HTC DHD ... BUT !!! - Desire HD General

Hai guys ...
i purchased a new DHD 2 monthes ago ..
im considering rooting and installing a new ROM ..
BUT !!
It comes with android 2.3.3 , software no. is 2.37.707.3
can that be rooted or what ?
its my first android device ... still dont understand anything but everytime i search on google how to root it .. i find results on the ''froyo'' not gingerbread ...
i also need to backup the stock ROM in case i needed to re-install it ...
Any help ???
thank you ...

Please read the forum rules, use search first.
But it seems you are lazy ass
You must downgrade first to root (works for me months ago build ver. 2.37):

ya .. im kinda lazy ass :-D LOL ... thanks bud anyway ...

Use AAHK
You can use AAHK to root and get s-off in one step without manually downgrading first. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1259821

There are a few links or resources via my sig (here).

Htc Desire hd
Try the ace hack kit. works a treat. I messed it first time simply by doing quick format on my sd,always and always format it properly haha.
But no,ace hack kit took me 15 minutes, now ive tried loads of roms
Always back to android Rev mind.

anyway i can backup my current stock rom ??

if you are rooted then you can use RomManager (clockworkmod).

For those saying you have to downgrade you have no idea what you are talking about. Especially when you resort to name calling. The Advanced Ace Hack Kit does not require ROM downgrading. It only downgrades radio and kernal. It is the only currently supported method available. Others have been discontinued or do not work anymore.

Desire hd 2? hasn't that been announced as HTC sensation?
Either you mean desire hd or sensation

HTC Wildfire will get Tough to Root after 2.2 Froyo Update

As per a forum member of XDA-Developers , he states that HTC Wildfire Which is soon to get its Official 2.2 Froyo Update , Is a good news for some , but will give tough times to others , other uses who wish to Root their Android Device.
In Details warriorvibhu Explains that HTC Wildfire will be provided with a OTA Update with HBoot , a Bootloader which would be harder to crack / modify in order to Root the device.
What do you think about this???

Just install danne_Jo's ROM and forget about ruu and losing root.

Download RUU and extract the ROM out of the .exe, then let it go through Android Kitchen and we got a Official ROM with root.

So means Unrevoked will not update to help poor guys updated to 2.2?
Are you sure maybe they will figure out something to provide it!

So the second, dont install that ROM. hix
Downgrade???
Do you think the technical staffs of HTC com can downgrade this ROM to OS 2.1? They invent the upgrade utility software, so do you think they can do downgrade???? I am going to the warranty my device. How do you think so?
I am wondering the same, what would happen when I try to flash the 1.37 RUU back on the phone?
If you have upgraded to the offical Froyo either OTA or from RUU your stuck in a hole.
The update changed the bootloader in the Wildfire meaning it is currently impossible to root (which rules out custum ROMS) and you can't role back to a previous RUU because they are written with the old boot loader.
Thats what the original OP of this thread is about.....the fact that it could be a while before it's going to get re rooted via unrevoked or any other method.
So your just gonna have to wait until rooting is supported again by Unrevoked or some other app, or some clever sod figures out how to change the new Boot loader.
Hope someone figures it out soon :/

Root hboot 1.01.0001

Hi,
Is there a way of rooting a wildfire with hboot 1.01.0001?
Downgrate... goldcard... any method!
No
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
Short Answer is NO , s0rry to be the bearer of bad news , lolz gonna have to wait till someone figures it out , thats why i never flash an RUU or OTA upgrade unless i KNOW what its goin to do
this is soo funny, people wait to get official froyo, then they want to root. instead they could have rooted before and get a custom froyo rom anyway.
And there were many warnings not to update to the OTA or RUU unless a newer method came out.
Bad luck guys

Root with Unrevoked
Unrevoked as we speak are trying to root the new Froyo update for the wildfire.
as the change log says.
v3.31:
Backed ClockworkMod down to 2.x series on EVO 4G; now 2.6.0.1.
Still has new kernel. Still has WiMAX key backup. Now supports amend scripting again.
ROM authors: fix your ROMs! Support will go away again in 3.x.x.x: Koush has a good thread explaining the reason why.
Improved compatibility with Android 2.1 (fixes “am reported error starting service”).
Increased root timing window (fixes “failed to get root” on supported devices).
v3.3:
Fix for latest EVO 4G OTA (3.70.651.1) and EVO 4Gs with new versions of HBOOT (2.02 and 2.10).
Switched exploits for all platforms; hopefully more reliable than rageagainstthecage
Updated ClockworkMod, with plenty of new features:
3.0.0.2 for EVO 4G, which has a new kernel (for better WiMAX safety), and supports WiMAX key backup
2.5.1.2 for Incredible, which supports SLCD
No update for Wildfire yet; sorry. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Only Snow Leopard is supported in the OS X build.
No update for Wildfire yet; sorry
maybe in the next update they seam to update pretty quick its just a waiting game now.

So does this mean the temp root works ?
If so is there anyway you could flash with a temp root please bare with me i am a Linux person and the Andriod OS is Linux in a sense but Andriod is new to me and as such this might sound noobish.

[Q] XTC Clip and 2.2.1

Hi everyone.
I have a two questions about the XTC clip that I can't find an answer to using search.
When I purchased the phone it came with the unrootable hboot and Android 2.2.1.
I have sourced a HTC clip and will be unlocking my Wildfire today. Once unlocked will I need to flash an older version of hboot - to then allow me to install a custom rom? or can I just install a custom rom as soon as it's done?
My second question is has anyone actually done this and can confirm it works?
Thanks!
xtc clip -> s-off ->
downgrade phone with ruu rom -> hboot 0.8 ->
unrEVOked for root ->
costum rom.
The phone is now set to s off!
Know where I can get the Rom to downgrade?
Thanks!

you really need to stop what youre doing. If you already could read, you would already know that you cant download xtc clip. Its an item you BUY on http://www.xtcclip.com and not a piece of software.
And NO it does not help asking the same questions 10 times, and then starting making private messages to people asking the same questions.
Now, start to grow up, use the search buttom and search for help, like the most of us. If you cant do that then I'm not sure you should ever bought a phone like android where you can make so many changes.
If you ever get it rooted, what can we then experience from you ? Questions about how you repair it from the disasters you have applied it ?
So start searching...... the answers are there including those you ask all the time. They have been answered.

Thanks,
Downloading it at the moment - Thanks very much for the help. So I'm right in thinking this will downgrade my current hboot to a previous version - which will then let me install Cyanogen and other custom roms?
This is my first HTC phone so I have never actually rooted one before!
Hope this works.

No need of downgrade or Unrevoked if already S-OFF
Sorry to "disappoint" you guys but there is no need to downgrade & Unrevoked at all, if the smart is set to S-OFF.
Explanation is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12188132&postcount=15
NOTE: The method is successfully tested on several smarts.
If you want to suck the MAX of Wildfire try CyanogenMod 7 RC2 (need to reflash the radio to fix GPS), or better wait a while for stable release - coming soon.

Right so if I install one of these stock roms my phone will still be rooted and stuff wouldn't it? So it wouldn't be in the orginal state

Hi,
I have to go back to the stock rom, too. Thats because I killed my Headphone Jack and want it to send it to HTC for warranty.

As far as I know, so far Sense 3.0 only ships with the HTC Sensation. Sense 2.1 is the correct version for your stock HTC DHD Rom, you shouldn't worry
So this back to stock ROM, does this return everything back to normle so un roots, radio on. All that?

Once you've unlocked the Legend download and run the HTC Supertool V3 from your machine, select option 1 then option 3 and you'll be permanently rooted, then you can install rom manager and deploy whatever rom you want.
So, if I vaguely recall correctly,...
This basically means we won't need the gold-card trick anymore.
I use my Legend for app testing, both CM7 and Blayo ROM as a proxy for stock. I avoid real stock ROMs because they tend to be a pain to re-root etc.
So perhaps I can try real stock ROMs and be able to switch back that much easier...
Hi
I have a legend running cm7 with S-on, how can i get S-off now?

There's a 5 page thread in the General section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498298
Looks to me like it's more trouble than it's worth at this time anyway.

Thanks. I've done the HTCDev part, I'll do Supertool and custom rom at weekend. I can use clockworkmod from market to install a rom or do I have to use a Legend specific version ?
This is to get s-off? I'm on 1.01 Hboot. Using CM 7.1 stable

nope... just the unlock bootloader... but you can use most of the S-OFF function.
with this you can flash your recovery part of your phone and also have system writes.

Can i install/change system fonts ?
Well, we don't know that as of yet (that's still a big mistery to us) but I can assure you that one who would find that out would most certainly be elected as president of the Internetz.
Have done HTC dev part and now with hboot 1.02. So next step should be to use super tool?

Yes, option 1 and 3, gets you root.
I tried the steps mentioned in wiki using super htc tool 3 and then using ROM manager. I was happy that it's almost done but got stuck with red triangle and exclamatory Mark when tried flashing cm7. What next ?!
