some people think if you kill tasks you can stop them from running and so saving battery. yes its true but some times you may kill system apps and stuff needed to run the phone and so the phone needs to reopen them causing more power to be used. but if you know what you are closing then of course why not use it.

Hey guys I was just wondering what app is the best. I have tried a bunch but they all seem to leave apps runing in the background. I have froyo 2.2. Thanks

You don't need a task killer.

Weird answer dude...
Advanced Task manager 4.1 can do this...also it has a widget to auto end applications and you can exclude apps from being killed
Nah, he's right. Its not Windows--you dont need to monitor the usage of resources by killing all running operations. By doing so, you end up just using more resources and wasting the battery just that much faster.
Thanks for the info guys.

Autokiller dose do a good job tweeking the task handling of android

Memory leak?

Hello,
I have a new, stock ROM Aria from AT&T. With a fresh boot, i run the task killer and i have a nice 178mb of free ram. But as the day goes on it gets lower and lower, 150, 115, 80, 25 free. What is eating it up? Cache?
Thanks!

i set it to autokill on sleep, theres only 1 app running which is the advanced task killer. When you manually kill them with the widget it reports the memory usage.

It's cool, you learned something
Something i remembered, on my Archos 5 Advanced task kill reports on value and its built in task manager reports another, usually higher. Maybe this is a similar case. Ill try another piece of software.
Not a good idea to use a task killer as it'll actually wear our battery down faster. Anyways unused RAM is wasted RAM.

Idk about all that. My battery is much happier keeping apps under control that are data hungry.

connection

Can somebody help me? I install Task Killer. When I push the killer button, My phone cannot connect to the internet anymore, so... I have to restart the phone to make a connection again.
I thought may be, I killed the connection with Task Killer. But I don't know which application can control the connection to put in whitelist. Thanks.
add timescape to the task killers ignore list

Try having the "backup and restore" task as excluded. That is probably it I think I had a similar problem when I used task panel to auto kill when screen went off, it disconnected my phone call as soon as screen turned off and caused many other problems.
Give It a try

I agree I've realised they are actually a waste of time, plus there are concerned that it may actually cause problems to the phone long-term.

Even I do respect your opinion I have to inform you that after a test I actually manage to get more battery without it. Its nice if you kill unnecessary apps once in a while but on Auto is not really helpful. I removed mine completely and I am happy from the results.

Uninstall EVERY system ap that you don´t need and use the Supercharger script(Just search for it)

You can get the supercharger ONLY from xda, and serach for autokiller on SlideMe.
NEVER use task killers. They just make everything worse!

Usually I find that the lower the free ram is, the snappier the phone is.

Does Supercharger script improve a lot? After that will the phone become as smooth as the original 2.1 rom?
Thx!

Oops, accidentally pressed thanks button instead of quote.
Yes, it does speed up the phone dramatically. Use it and see for yourself.

One teensie-weensie problem

I have downloaded countless task killers but when i try to put the widget on my home screen its not there, this only occurs with the task killers and nothing else, using Euroskank 7.2.0 and Tiamat 4.1.0 if it helps. The launcher is ADW

I don't remember ever seeing a rom here called Euroskank. The only one I found was for Desire, and it's based on CM7.2.
Not sure what is causing your problem, other then maybe if it isn't ported properly. That said, 99% of the time, task killers cause more battery drain on gingerbread or newer roms. They kill app's which are sitting idle in the background but will always be running. So as soon as you kill them off, they restart and are no longer idle.
