I have downloaded countless task killers but when i try to put the widget on my home screen its not there, this only occurs with the task killers and nothing else, using Euroskank 7.2.0 and Tiamat 4.1.0 if it helps. The launcher is ADW

I don't remember ever seeing a rom here called Euroskank. The only one I found was for Desire, and it's based on CM7.2.
Not sure what is causing your problem, other then maybe if it isn't ported properly. That said, 99% of the time, task killers cause more battery drain on gingerbread or newer roms. They kill app's which are sitting idle in the background but will always be running. So as soon as you kill them off, they restart and are no longer idle.

Well, im an EVO adopter (walked away from BlackBerry after 5 yrs) and im drooling at so much customizations. Now I did the unrevoked and installed the FRESH ROM and WOW! the battery life is AMAZING. But I loved the CM6 rom but the nightlies ate my battery in less then 2-3hrs. However I love the messaging app on it and the phone app also (CM6). Is their anyway too import those into the FRESH ROM? Thanks so much.
I've never tried that ROM...is the messaging app unique to it? What's the name of it, have you tried looking for it in the app store?
All it is, is stock android SMS app and stock android dialer. Aka AOSP SMS app and dialer. Those cannot be ported to fresh.

You can always download handcent from the market. Its highly custimizable and there's options to make it look like the stock android messaging app.

If you like CM6, I'd suggest going with CM6 stable and trying a couple different kernels. Start with Snap8.2 825mv or one of King's kernels. Try them without changes and then try them with setcpu. Also having your apps and widgets sync at the same time helps too.

Coming from the cliq rooted with a 2.1 rom, atk was a necessity IMO.But ive hard that task killers are not needed with froyo and that it hurts more than it helps. But ive noticed that even with atk on froyo, apps aren't being killed unless I go to settings/applications/manage apps to force close myself. Ive tried just not force closing or killing apps and ive noticed it being a memory hog and decrease in performance and battery, but thats just my own personal testing.
What's your opinion on task killers and such? do I need it or am I better of without one?

I am using "advanced app killer'. A number of stock apps will restart right after, but most others will not.
I use it right after starting up, and after closing some apps (they often keep running in background). I think this is helping materially with my battery life - which is fairly good.

is a horrible thing. the second u close an app and it instantly reopens itself your cpu shoots up 100% and you end up killing more battery by doing that.
Haven't seen the need for a task killer. I run System Panel app and what I'm seeing is the majority of the apps listed are on background and not taking up CPU power at all.
If anything, once I root, I'll probably use Autostarts just to minimize the number of apps that run at startup. But right now... not even necessary.

Hey guys. Does the HTC Legend automatically close programs after pressing the home button or the "backarrow"? My Legend seems to get slower when i've had a lot of programs open?
I've heard about some Androids which doesn't do it.
Android does it. So all Android devices will kill tasks eventually. Pressing the back button until you're back at the homescreen will ensure that the app is closed properly. If you press the home button it will "minimize" the app, and it will run in the background. If you have apps in the background then Android will eventually kill them when it needs the memory. Don't use a task killer.

Why not? I use it on occasion, I's good to have a controll over your phone, plus I'm not sure how android handles turning those apps off when screen is turned off...So by killing before turning screen-off should preserve battery...no?

Well, its a much-debated issue. But in my personal experience, if I dont use task-killers, my legend becomes too sluggish. I would recommend all Legend users to use one.
In my personal opinion, Relying on Andoid's own task management might be ok for high end devices with more RAM. but not for devices with low memory like legend.
Same here but after 2-3 days even task killers don't work, only rebooting works

I haven't used a task killer on my Legend in 5 months, and it never gets sluggish. Regardless of whether ir not I use CM.

That's the only proper way to do it:L Ya, i restart my phone once a day and it never gets really sluggish!
I barely ever reboot my phone.

It's really an interesting read, and although I have Taskiller installed, I rarely use it. But a thing I've observed is that when I run Quadrant benchmark and kill before, I usually get lower score... it is some time ago I learned this... Apparently there is something to it

I don't use a task killer either and have only noticed my phone get sluggish once after the 2.2 upgrade. In that case it was some app which was being stupid.
Long press the back button while exiting an app...it kills the app...u will never need a taskiller (might not work on stock rom)

Get rid of Sense launcher. Use LauncherPro, ADW or GoLauncher.

I'm on CM7 so I don't have Sense anymore. When I did I would get that loading screen frequently. Not sure about the Desire port fixing it but if you haven't tried it yet and like Sense then you should def give it a try.

I just flashed desire z rom, the problem is gone. I am glad because I love sense, and its got lots of compatibility and skins and bhtc account. Its amazing but stock is still bad

I disagree it's not a solution, it is a possible solution. It's a round about way of saying that the launcher itself is slow loading, and that a different launcher will alleviate the problem.
You're assuming the launcher is slow loading for other reasons then that it just is. It certainly won't hurt to try a different launcher and see if that fixes the issue the OP has.
I am an app dev, not a hacker but i noticed between dz software and shift software, the same loading screen happens whenever you change themes. So many htc took a shorcut and made the launcher occasionally reload the sense "theme" i would not know how to fix this in the stock roms but, thats information i do have.

Could be that you just have too many widgets on your homescreen that it reloads every time you press home.

some people think if you kill tasks you can stop them from running and so saving battery. yes its true but some times you may kill system apps and stuff needed to run the phone and so the phone needs to reopen them causing more power to be used. but if you know what you are closing then of course why not use it.
