battery calibration app says I don't have root - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, took root of nook color, intalled miui. Worked for a long time then flashed rom and tried to use battery calibration app and it told me I don't have root. rooted again and tried phiremod and that did the same as above. Reset to factory, rooted (I installed rom manager and android market to check if rooted) it worked and I installed miui again but battery calabration app is saying same thing again.

Did you remove superuser? It's probably just a badly coded app.

(Q) Phone says its rooted but its not...

Edit : just checked. My phone is running the newest updated but im gonna try to unroot and reroot one more time even though I already tried and it could not unroot.
So I went to install the new update via stock recovery and it seemed to work. I go check system settings and its still showing 2.3.2 and not the newest one. I go to try and root and it says everything works and my phone is rooted. Thing is there is no super user app that appeared on my last droid 2. What's the issue?

Try it again and use the 1 click root for 2.3.20 from here http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-2-discussion/5321-2-3-20-1-click-root.html

It might be that you just lost the app and just need to get it off the Market.

Yeah, I saw it was rooted and just went to market and got Superuser app and installed, I have root. I don't know why it did not show the superuser app even thought it said the apk was transfered.
Mine did the same. After I rooted using the one click method, it said it was a sucess. Tried to use Root Explorer, and it said failed getting superuser permission. Checke my SD card, and there was no Superuser.apk there. I copied it to the SD card from the one click directory, and it was sucessful. When trying to use Titanium Backup, had trouble with Busybox. Titanium downloaded a new Busybox, and all is now well.

Honney Villan

I'm using honey villan which has supper user built in. The problem is quick boot and quick boot plus always get denied. I uninstalled booth and reinstalled and get the same problem. It did work, maybe cause super user is bata.. Any ideas
Try running iconiaroot.apk. even though it already rooted, it should replace root access with it's own version.

hope to try!
I had this same problem with hv, i would reroot, re flash a fresh install, it would be good for awhile then super user would force close and deny everything. I went to taboonay and havent looked back.

Never thought of that one, will def give it a try.
After testing for a day, the problem is cwm. On fresh install of rom, su works fine, but do a full backup and then restore your backup and you will have no working superuser.
Been checking out taboonay and will give it a try next.

Just tried it and it worked fine, now I can use my backups. Thanks a million. I thought because su was the problem, but I guess it can't run if you loose root for some strange reason. It still breaks using cwm restore. Later on
Hi! I have a problem with audio on HoneyVillain 1.1 with two last kernels (3.2 и 3.3). When I insert the headphone jack into a tablet, a sound through external speakers does not stop
I believe your problem is not just with your rom. I have read others with different rom's having the same problem. I have hv 105a and it's kernal and not hit the problem yet, but I know it's there cause it did it a few times running stock. Just a software glitch. Just remember its a computer.

[Q] Unrooting Defy Plus

If I root my new Defy Plus using the one click root, how can I unroot it again, if I needed to send it back for example ?
Would a regular 'factory reset' take it back to unrooted state, or is there something else I'd need to do.
Try the unroot option in soc. If out don't work you can flash an avg anytime to restore the phone to 'just out of box' condition

Hi,
Not sure if Super one click will root the Defy plus. I tried it the first defy plus I got and it would not work.
Droid3 root did work though. I had to send it back due to it continually re booting. Used Pete's Root tools (think that's what it was called to un root it). Must have worked as I was sent a replacement phone with no problems.
Mind you the touch screen was faulty on that one. On my third defy plus and it is working fine after three days, fingers crossed!
Regards

Yes its the droid 3 root that works on the defy plus, I'll have to have a look for Pete's root tools if that's the way to unroot again.
does anyone know how can i be sure if my phone is unrooted or not? is that sure that pete's tools work?
Well, m8be a stupid question..
But what does it do ?
Can i put some other software on the root of this phone like i did on HTC ?
yes you can use new features on your phone like adblocker apps and for example you can delete apps that were installed on the device when you bought it.
Well i rooted my phone and somehow my camera (view from screen) ****ed up.
I tried a different android proggie from the market and did the same error.
So unroot did do the job and gave my camera and gave my view back.
Some1 got the same problem ?
I've never heard about such a problem before. but what program did you use to root and unroot the phone? cus we heard about a a few programs which work but let's make these things clear
DROID 3 easy root script v7
I also rooted my defy plus this afternoon, I used the newest version (2.3.1.0) of Super One Click and it worked. Both rooting and unrooting were finished and I also checked it with a few apps which need a rooted phone. Both rooting and unrooting were succesfull.
Because some apps works only on a rooted handy i tried again
with DROID 3 easy root script v7.
Superuser seems to work now.. also my camera
The only thing i didn't do is to go into boot section after the blue led thing.

S4 i337m cm 10.1.3 updated to 10.2 lost root

Hello,
I own a S4 I337M I had it rooted and then proceed to install CM 10.1.3 I had no problems then. Yesterday I got a notification that CM 10.2 was available after I installed it using OTA I lost the ability to turn on the wifi and the 3g.
I had CDW so I wiped my phone and reinstalled 10.2, when I opened titanium it suggested me to try superSU I installed it but when I opened it I got an error saying something about the binary files.
I chose to flash the binary files and now I cannot access to CDW and it seems like I lost root, everything else seems to work good but I would like to have my phone rooted if this cannot be achieved on CM 10.2 I would like to install CDW and go back to 10.1.3.
I tried to root my phone again using ODIN like the first time but it didn't work.
Do you know if there's a way to regain root access or at least to install CDW again?
Thanks in advance.
Never mind.
I was able to put back CDW with Odin and restore the backup of CM 10.1.3.

jeally beans aosp kit kat phone rebooting HELP! !

I followed the guides rooted my phone,I followed the instructions word for word installed superstrap, and loaded jeally beans on there. Now all my phone does it constantly restart, every app on there will crash very very quickly, I can't make calls without a reboot, and I can get anywhere from 30seconds to 30 minutes of usage and then a reboot.
I tried clearing the cash and the dalvik cache as well as fixing permissions, from within safestrap. none of those things worked. I also tried searching but I couldn't find anything relevent. Did I miss something? what can I do to fix this, because when this rom works I really like it.
EDIT: Forgot to mention this is a Verizon phone
What rom did u flash???

also were you on MJE before you tried to flash this?
yes and yes
ok, I have noticed that if I boot into the Jelly Beans Rom and I connect my phone to the Kingo andriod root app it says that I'm not rooted (I can't get the phone to not crash long enough for me to check with the root checker app), but when I restart with the phone and load the stock rooted rom everything checks out with Kingo and the root checker app.
Also if I switch from one the jelly beans rom to the stock rom the phone will continually crash/reboot as well. it will only stop if I boot to the stock rom after leaving the phone off for a couple of hours. Any suggestions?
