I'm using honey villan which has supper user built in. The problem is quick boot and quick boot plus always get denied. I uninstalled booth and reinstalled and get the same problem. It did work, maybe cause super user is bata.. Any ideas
Try running iconiaroot.apk. even though it already rooted, it should replace root access with it's own version.

hope to try!
I had this same problem with hv, i would reroot, re flash a fresh install, it would be good for awhile then super user would force close and deny everything. I went to taboonay and havent looked back.

Never thought of that one, will def give it a try.
After testing for a day, the problem is cwm. On fresh install of rom, su works fine, but do a full backup and then restore your backup and you will have no working superuser.
Been checking out taboonay and will give it a try next.

Just tried it and it worked fine, now I can use my backups. Thanks a million. I thought because su was the problem, but I guess it can't run if you loose root for some strange reason. It still breaks using cwm restore. Later on
Hi! I have a problem with audio on HoneyVillain 1.1 with two last kernels (3.2 и 3.3). When I insert the headphone jack into a tablet, a sound through external speakers does not stop
I believe your problem is not just with your rom. I have read others with different rom's having the same problem. I have hv 105a and it's kernal and not hit the problem yet, but I know it's there cause it did it a few times running stock. Just a software glitch. Just remember its a computer.

This is actually relevant to more than just the Thunderbolt. It fixes Superuser problems with numerous newer Sense releases.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=886999
My su binary is already being provided via the root thread but the matching Superuser is not. Without the matching patched Superuser, you'll see FCs when apps request root if the Superuser app itself is open.
Just apply the update zip from the aforementioned thread to fix it. ROM builders should use my patched version as well.
Please update to this, I will be fixing the tutorial as soon as I can, and noting it here.
Rafi, good to see you on the bolt. Looks like we will get a virtuous Rom too. Ran your Rom on the inc till I got run over by the desire z, hd craze.

Hmm, not sure if I should do this. I ran fix permissions in Rom Manager and it seemed to take care of all the problems. Everything's been working fine since then. What do you guys suggest?
i see no reason to mess with it if your set up is currently working

I agree - however, in my case, nothing was solving the FC's - so I put in this SU and all is right with the world.
I think it's worth trying if all other permissions methods are failing - it certainly "feels" more stable.
This fixes su issues while the superuser app is open.
Flash it.
Thank you rmk & jcase
even aftere re rooting fix my su issue i ran this and i feel su runs wayyyyy smoother now for apps that need su.

There is simply no way any newer Sense ROM works correctly without this patched version. You *will* ultimately encounter issues.
Don't believe me, try this. Open up the Superuser app itself, connect via adb shell, su system, su root. Observe hang. This is just an example, there are numerous other ways to have the issue occur.

This was working for me until I rebooted. Once I did, everything was back to how it was.
I just applied the patch, restarted. VOILA! SU is working again. Thanks rmk40!

Thank you for the response, my newbness was the problem as there was a file on sd card that keep trying to install when trying what you mentioned above.
Still getting FC's in SU after flashing... Did I miss something?
Never mind, fixed after running a program that required root.
Thanks!

Hey guys. I just got a replacement epic. I restored one of my backups from my prior epic using the same version of cwm. It seems fine except for the applications that require root. Setcpu and wifi tether both say that I am not rooted. There is no superuser popup when I start those applications. I tried removing the exisiting permissions from the superuser app, that didn't work. Setcpu said it might be a problem with permissions, so I fixed permissions with cwm, but that didn't work either.
Also, when I first opened superuser, it said there was an update. I tried to install it, but it said it failed and that it placed a zip on my sd card that I should install with cwm. I tried to install the superuser update with cwm but cwm said it was a bad file and aborted the installation. Superuser currently is v.2.3.6.1
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get the apps requiring root working again? Does it have something to do with this supposed update?
Why don't you just reroot the phone? I had to do that after doing a nandroid backup.
Never mind. I just reinstalled the rom and kernel, all my data is in tact, root works fine now.
Some of the kernels that now include root are buggy,I have lost root with several, reflashing the kernel always brings it back...

Depends on which you're talking about. I can't vouch for all of them, but I know Twilight Zone and VisionKernel have always had root, and always had it reliably.
Now, as far as CWM goes...
Well I didnt want to mention any,but I just lost root with DRockstar's clean kernel 1.0.1 yesterday, this was after testing the "journaling on.zip",plus some other funny things; All bookmarks were reset, some programs lost settings, then my shutdown ani lost some images (still there, just skips some with black frames) and I lost shutdown sound; So I flashed clean kernel 1.0.3d and cwm 3.0.2.5,tried to install an updated framework and shutdown ani with diffrent sound, installs say complete, but nothing sticks. I still have lost images,no sound, and the framework images were never added; So Ill be starting fresh again to see where the issue was...
And I have lost root with others, but who knows where the real problem is,I just want gingerbread already (full working version)...

So, I was excited to see a new version of SuperUser available yesterday. I updated and much to my surprise it screwed things up on my atrix pretty good.
Now it doesn't even prompt me to allow permissions for some apps, and just auto denies them the perms. In SuperUser app it self those apps dont show up, so I cannot manually allow them ( even though they are being logged as denied).
Im no idiot.. I can usually work around most problems I encounter.. so I go into preferences and set it to "auto-allow " everything SU permission. The apps STILL get denied. I have uninstalled and reinstalled those apps. No luck there. I guess I could try uninstalling and reinstalling SuperUser but I'm not sure that will work either.
Normally I wouldnt even care, but it just so happens the apps its screwing up on are Adfree and LBE privacy guard. I am not pleased. Looks like I may have to restore this month old nandroid backup I have.
Anyone else had any of these issues with the update??
i got the update (and also an updated su) and everything is working fine.
Everything is working fine for me... (Stock Froyo) *knock on wood*

i dont rly like the update either but it is working but it dont show the apps in the app list
no problems here
I had a problem the other day regarding a binary update with superuser and gave up and reloaded my Rom, works fine now. Luckily backup worked better than I thought and back to normal already.

Also no prob with su.
Instead of reinstalling your old backup, just uninstall the update in the app manager.
If you update it'll say at the bottom "Was that cool Do it again?" Click do it again and it will then prompt you for SU access. I haven't had any issues yet.
Im aquired a copy from CWM Rom Manager and I am on a stock 2.2 rooted/unlocked rom. It works fine.for me and with Super User Elite from the market it really works lovely.

I had a problem with SU Binary as well. RE-Rooting the device worked for me.
Mine is fine but the apps dont show in the app list it is the free ver does anyone else have this prob
So i just odin'd from miui to stock, went to root, everything went fine. except that it kinda didnt. now, whenever i try to use an app that requires root (rom manager, root explorer, etc) it crashes. Superuser does it too.
is there something i'm missing? i've odind many many times, with no problems whatsoever. this time tho, nothing root related works. i've tried re-odining, rerooting, with different files that i've had on my computer for ages, with new ones just downloaded, with AIO. all to no avail.
any ideas?
I've noticed that Superuser has had some updates lately that could be the issue.

did you reboot the phone right after rooting?
Could you try using my noob guide and my update.zip files.... I prefer B as it is the fastest method. The ROM will give you root access.
Or get old school oneclicklagfix 2.3, I use it every time now. Root zip built in.

I recommend going back and using the noob guide option recommended above. It has also worked perfectly for me.

I updated to EI22, stock w/OTA update. I then rooted and things were working great. Then about 1 week ago, I did a CWM backup and when I restarted the phone just kept automatically rebooting approx. every 3 -4 minutes. I could not stop it no matter what I did. Then I restored the backup and it worked fine. A few days later, I turned the power off to put in a my extra battery, and when I turned it on, the same thing happened. I had to restore twice fir it to stop this time. Then this morning, I did a reboot to see what would happen, and again it happened. Mind you it was working flawless before I restarted it. I have tried everything from removing programs, turning off the wifi, leaving the battery out for a half hour, but nothing. Sometimes after it reboots, I leave it alone for 15 minutes and then when I hit the power button, it just restarts.
Any ideas before I put back froyo??
Sounds like a bad flash. I would Odin all the way to Stock EC05 then root then flash a Gingerbread ROM. Your error is either in the kernel or recovery to happen immediately after boot. It could even be a flaky partition table.

OK. Funny, I flashed backed to a stock EC05 and did the OTA update so as to possible avoid any problems like this.

I figured that but the problem may lie in the rooting which required you to flash a kernel or in your recovery module.

Your not alone on this issue. I am also considering going back to froyo
ADW was nice enough to bring up a crash report that I emailed myself. In the stack trace I see that android Package manager has died as a cause of the exception. I am not a java programmer so am at a loss here to what's happening.

So I flashed to the ACS ICS rom and so far no problems. What a great ROM!! Many thanks to Marcusant and ACS.

don't use the OTA.
just root ec05, flash CWM 5, flash modem update ec05 to EI22, flash a rom of your choosing. it's that simple. i don't see why people go the OTA route. it just causes problems with the recovery.
EDIT: also if you want Rom manager, check the kernel(or rom) for compatibility.

It was not supported for the Epic before but with the new CWM5 it is. It is much faster to boot into recovery from ROM Manager rather than powering down and 3 fingering into it. Plus ROM Manager supports renaming your backups when you are doing them. Also ROM Manager will continuously update your CWM if new versions come out. There is also OTA updates available if the developer supports it on their ROM.
