How to extend number of rings of incoming calls?

I can't seem to figure out if there's a way to extend the number of rings. With the current ring tone I'm using, it rings 3 times, which is simply not long enough. Anybody knows? Or is this a service provider side issue?
Thanks.
This is a generic GSM feature which can be configured by dialing the following sequence:
Delay nn seconds: max 30 seconds, in 5 second increments
Set: **61*destination*nn#[SEND]
Cancel: ##61#[SEND]
Query: *#61#[SEND]
note:
[SEND] is the green 'Talk' key
destination is the number you want your call forwarded to if not picked up in the indicated number of seconds
You may omit the '*nn', this only changes the destination of the forwarding

Thanks, edsub, but it gives me an 'Invalid Parameters' error message when hitting the Talk button. I've entered **61*+336XXXXXX*30#. Could it be that it doesn't accept the '+' symbol? That's, however, the number currently used for my voice mail box.
mmm, I tried this on my Nokia and received 'Unknown Application'.
Retried it with 20 and 25, this worked
The '30' appears just to be too much. Wich means the FAQ I got it from apparantly needs an update.
With 25 seconds it says 'Command not supported'. Nevermind, I'll just have to react faster when the phone rings.
Same here.
Since these are generic GSM codes and it does work with my Nokia, I guess the WM2003 Phone app simply is not capable of handling this.
Maybe try to use another phone to set these values, as they are stored on the network.
The "destination" number is network dependent:
For Orange NL the code is:
*61*+31628500560*11*30#
Where 30 is the timer in seconds, 10, 20 and 30 are valid.
The + is accomplished by holding the 0 'zero'.
Standard your Orange NL timer is set to 20.

That worked for Orange F as well, thanks. Well, at least the command was confirmed by the network. Yet, it still only rings 3 times = approx. 15 seconds. And the query still tells me 20 seconds. Strange. Could be post-update Radio problem, I suppose.
Does this mean that I can forward to my Home phone answering machine, and avoid the cost of calling O2 Voicemail? Or will I be charged the equivalent of the mobile->home call?
Go to phone (green button) then Tools >Options.
Tab "Services", select Call Forwarding and replace the number with the number of your home device.
Just realised that I'd rather have the SMS for voicemail, but might be worth doing at some point.
As an aside, I can't set the timeout to 30s on O2 anyway - I'm sure O2 are conspiring to make you miss calls as their voicemail is a revenue stream.
I have had the same issue. For KPN the following setting works:
**61*333xxxxxxxxxx*11*yy#
xxxx = your mobile number
yy = number of : 5, 10, 15, 20 (default) but 30 seems to work to
for some nokia phones you have to do the following:
**61*333xxxxxxxxxx**11*yy#
How about the low-tech method of looping the original wav file using a sound editor such as Sound Forge or CakeWalk? A three-ring file would become six, nine, etc. rings. This way you're just making the wav file bigger and you don't have to experiment with arcane GSM phone codes.

voicemail

I have Cingular service inside the United States, on my normal cell phone, not my PDA I have voicemail after like 6 rings, and then I dial a number, enter my password and get my voicemail, I know I can dial a number on my PDA and enter my password and check voicemail but will it automatically after 6 rings or so bring them to the voicemail, and can I record my own answering machine thinG? ANyone that has done this plz help.
it sounds very much like your answering machine is located at the phone company and have 100% nothing to do with your phone
so it should work the same way no matter which type of phone you use
and if your phone company let you record your own greating then you can do it with what ever phone you want

Increasing number of rings prior to diversion or missed call

Can the number of rings prior to a call diversion or a missed call listing be varied on the XDA 2 Mini itself or is it a service provider setting. What is maximum time setting? At the moment it seems about only 20 seconds and i currently miss a lot of calls because I am not quite quick enough getting it out of the holder, opening the cover and answering the phone.
It's an Operator function so you'll need to speak to them about it. You can send codes to some operators from your phone so hopefully they'll tell you what the codes are!
Read This
The (your prefix, your number) can be any number you like, it is the number the caller is diverted to when you do not answer, ie your network answer phone number is default so make a note of this first.

[Q] emergency number

well I live in Egypt and my operator is Mobinil.
Mobinil's customer service number is 110, in winmo it worked just fine (and from aaany other device in Egypt obviously), but in android when i dial 110 it recognizes it as an emergency number
is there any solution? this is a really annoying bug
any help guys...?
Probably since almost every (if not every) emergency number only has 3 digits (eg. 911, 112).
Your operator probably pre installed the 110 number to be redirected to their customer number (which is a normal phone number I guess). And probably in android it doesn't auto redirect to this number.
Workaround would be to save their normal customer number to your sim and dial that one instead.

V20 rewriting voicemail number

I bought my US996 V20 from B&B and got it shipped to the UK where I live. It works fine in the UK except for one anomaly.
I have my service provider's voicemail number 901 set up as the voicemail number in the phone settings. But if I attempt to ring 901, either by holding down the 1 key OR by simply dialling 901, my phone attempts to ring +17855366... I.e. it dials my UK mobile number but with the American prefix. I then inevitably get the "number not recognised" message.
This is evidently some consequence of the phone being intended for sale and use in North America. But I can't work out why it is doing this or how to stop it. Meanwhile I can't access my voicemail when the phone is set up properly.
To get round this, I put any random incorrect number in the phone's voicemail setting then I can manually dial 901 without the phone hijacking it and redirecting my call to +1..... So it's a minor annoyance at best, but it's intrigued me so if anybody knows why it's doing this, and how to stop it, I'd be very grateful.
All the best
Doug
