Hey guys I'm using the free xperia cm7 rom. I've managed to change my boot screen from the default cm7 one to the PlayStation one using files from another thread. I did this using adb push commands but couldn't for the life of me get the audio that goes with it to load. Anyone managed this yet?

Go ask doomlord on his kernel thread, he will know.
I think you have to copy the mp3 file to /data/local (delete the mp3 that is there with the same name)
EDIT: I tested it with the boot sound from that PlayStation boot logo and it didn't work...
Sent from my R800i using XDA
I got it to work but didn't flash the zip. I opened it up and copied what needed to be copied over to my phone manually. You can go to the ORIGINAL thread which I believe is linked in his thread and it should work
Did the sound work? What Rom/kernel do you use? Because I copied them myself too, but the sound doesn't work

I just tried it on fxp119 with the included kernel last week and worked fine. Only thing that went weird was it made a green line appear near the top on my boot logo :/
Ehh... I'm using the stock rom, maybe that's why the sound didn't work. There are no green lines though

Yeah, that's the problem, it HAS to be on cm7 to work

Ok I've managed to get my device rooted and overclocked, I have Bootstrapper and Clockwork Mod. My question is am I deodexed and am I ready for themes now
No, you have three options:
1) Manually deodex your phone
2) Install a Rom that's already been deodexed
3) Download and flash your stock files for deodexed ones
Ok how do I know which themes have been deodexed already and how do I know what apex I have

If you browse the droid x themes and apps section of xda, the theme creator will tell you what has been deodexed or not. I know the 928 blackglass theme is deodexed already but I do not know of many themes that come deodexed. Of you wish to deodex your phone, search google for "xUltimate 2.2 Manually deodex your phone".
As for apex...this is a custom ROM, so this will not be running on yout phone yet, you would have to install it of this is the ROM you wish to run.

I have a feeling that after I deodex I'm still not done ...lol I actually tried loading the DXred theme the other day and it worked ..then I noticed that the dialer button didn't work then it killed my service ...ya think that happened because I was not properly deodexed?

Probably. After you deodex you should be ready for loading up a custom theme. Be sure to read any instructions specific to the theme you apply.

Ah, ok. Xultimate is an application that runs on your computer, not your phone.
If you have your phone rooted, and know how to use the Droid X bootstrap to install .zip files, then download this file:
http://www.mediafire.com/?gvvgnum0uma2huk
Run this with Droid X bootstrap and you will be deodexed, and not need xultimate.
Ok after a lot of research I finally understand the whole thing.....most if the themes I see on line you need a custom ROM to run them which of course I'm running stock therefore I have to choose from the stock ones which is cool. I found a pretty cool one called Executive Red and it's working perfect. Thank you very much for all of your help

No problem. Glad to hear you got where you want to be. I would recommend just doing some research, and when you feel like you're comfortable, try out one of the custom ROMs. I regret not jumping into one a little sooner. They really have a great advantage many times.
Look into themes from Bignadad. He does themes for liberty, rubix, and did one for the original 2.3.15 OTA. Check him out on twitter as well, and you can keep up on what he is working on. I would recommend Bignadad by far, he is in my opinion the most thorough with his themes, and they always look amazing.

You have to pay for the hotspot app to work unless you perform another modification such as the one that team black hat released to use it for free.

Yes, it will say its there, but you cannot use it without paying (kinda). There is another mod, where you start the program, then put the plane in airplane mode, then disable airplane mode and it works as if you had subscribed to the service...
or there is the tbh hack.. which they say is unethical, and they don't condone, so please read the whole page before using this... just a disclaimer.
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/android-hacks/5156-tbh-droid-3g-hotspot-nvram-hack.html
You basically download a .zip and flash it in clockworkmod recovery.

I have looked again . and i cant seem to find it -.- it baffels me how when im trying to look for something i can never find it . but when im NOT looking for hit , i find it . I promise i will find it again . I remember it was in a location i wasnt expecting . also , im wondering if kernel version plays a part in this mysterious file . I swear i'll find it if its the last thing i do xP i even remembering there is a file which allows one to have the buttons light up each time the screen is touched .
Hey i found the file , yeah while looking for something else xP . But i found it and confirmed it works on filkret kernels and dorimanx kernels . I am pretty sure it works on any android device as my brothers phone had this file as well .
So what i did for the community , was i created several init.d scripts . I then placed these scripts inside a flashable zip file . instructions are below.
Install instructions:
1. Download the attached zip file.
2. Open or extract the newly downloaded zip file.
3. Select whichever time delay you want.
4. Copy to the ROOT of your sdcard.
5. Boot into recovery mode.
6. Choose "Install zip from sdcard".
7. Select "Choose zip file".
8. Select the time delay file you copied earlier.
9. Reboot and enjoy.
Now i created a bunch of them from the same file and didnt test every single file . If it doesnt work attach the zip file you used in recover stating your issues and i will get back to you
Can't get 25 sec to work... hmmm
Followed instructions and only 13 sec? Just wondering if it can stay on as long as my screen is on?
Tried 30 and still 13 sec. I'm using kernal 2.6.32.15_tytung_ICS_r1 [email protected] #230

yeah i realised i had a permissions error . So i fixed the updater script to change the permissions of the init.d file and they work now . but yes if your screen is timed to shut off after 15 seconds , your button lights will shut off as well . but here try the newly updated scripts . i made a thread for itself . figured maby more people will want it . so here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23219193&postcount=1

From what I see in AOKP ROM controls the way to have boot sound is to copy a file and rename as /system/media/boot_audio.mp3 . I'm not sure whether it's default or just here on AOKP ICS though... Have you tried it?
I've tried android_audio.mp3 but ill try that...if it helps my sound files are all .ogg
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA
Maybe you should consider converting them to mp3? I'm not sure if ogg files can be played this way (on Android boot). Audacity should do the trick.
which ROM and kernel U used...
Kernel version

Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
Go and grab the nexus 7 factory image. found here ( https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images ). Then extract the files. Fastboot flash the boot.img, recovery.img, and the system.img
Commands: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
I believe this is what I did. Oh and make sure the files are in the platform-tools folder
I hope this helps.

I'll see if i can find the right build.prop path for you.
It says location: ( /system/build.prop )
hope that helps

---------- Post added at 10:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:05 PM ----------
Use rom toolbox from the market. It's easier using the app. I had to do the same thing you did except I just redid the whole thing.
Repaired the build.prop and still won't boot so I guess I'm going to the stock image.
Thanks for trying to bail me out
While I have your attention, I'm new to the no sd card thing. Will a CWM wipe erase my pictures and videos and such?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
unfortunately yes. but i re flashed all three file. Try and flash the bootloader-grouper-3.34.img file. I know since I did the syste.img file, that might have erased the memory.
I had to do the same thing to but I also noticed that my permissions on the build.prop file got changed. Some how it was set to rw-rw-r-- and should have been rw-r--r--. Once I changed the permissions, it booted right up.
I've tried to change the dpi 10 times now. Kept bricking and had to fastboot back to stock each time. I think I can live without Tablet UI.
Since I've got you all here (and since my n7 is booting now) what is a good number to try to get the tablet ui?

I would reflash the factory image once more and flash cwm and root manually (The one click methods still need a little work) then once you change the DPI (170) worked for me,Connect to your PC and use adb to reboot and it should work perfectly. These are the method's I used and everything works great now,Nova launcher is also working pretty good with it too,The N7 is pretty much unbearable to use without the DPI change.Good luck and if you need any of the files I used just PM me & I'll create a link for you

Hey!
I can't stand the keyboard with the stock ROM so would like to replace it with the Xperia one from my Xperia P (ICS) which I think is almost perfect.
So I copied the (textinput-tng) apk from my phone over to the N7 and installed it, and all looks well; can configure the keyboard, etc.
Problem is, every time the keyboard tries to start up, it FC's
Does anyone know of any hack that'll get the keyboard working, or is it some unreconcilable differences between ICS and JB (or maybe some Sony propriety code)?
Cheers!
n.b. N7 is unlocked, rooted, on stock ROM with Clemsyn's elite kernel.
