From what I see in AOKP ROM controls the way to have boot sound is to copy a file and rename as /system/media/boot_audio.mp3 . I'm not sure whether it's default or just here on AOKP ICS though... Have you tried it?

I've tried android_audio.mp3 but ill try that...if it helps my sound files are all .ogg
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA

Maybe you should consider converting them to mp3? I'm not sure if ogg files can be played this way (on Android boot). Audacity should do the trick.

which ROM and kernel U used...

Kernel version
2.6.32.15_tyung_r14-g333fda
[email protected]#132
Mod version
CyanogenMod-7.2.0-RC1-
bravo[TyphooN_v3.8.1-MAGDLR]
Let me know if you can figure it out...I've been going crazy over this

I am absolutely loving this rom;
but my only problem is, I do not have wifi calling with this rom, and with the location i am at, I absolutely need it.
my efforts:
I seem to find wifi calling solutions for other phones that do not work with this phone;
I noticed that the author of the rom stated that it is an add-on but cannot seem to locate how I can get it on the phone.
could someone point me towards where I can put wifi calling on my phone? please?

Boot sound

Hey guys I'm using the free xperia cm7 rom. I've managed to change my boot screen from the default cm7 one to the PlayStation one using files from another thread. I did this using adb push commands but couldn't for the life of me get the audio that goes with it to load. Anyone managed this yet?

Go ask doomlord on his kernel thread, he will know.
I think you have to copy the mp3 file to /data/local (delete the mp3 that is there with the same name)
EDIT: I tested it with the boot sound from that PlayStation boot logo and it didn't work...

I got it to work but didn't flash the zip. I opened it up and copied what needed to be copied over to my phone manually. You can go to the ORIGINAL thread which I believe is linked in his thread and it should work
Did the sound work? What Rom/kernel do you use? Because I copied them myself too, but the sound doesn't work

I just tried it on fxp119 with the included kernel last week and worked fine. Only thing that went weird was it made a green line appear near the top on my boot logo :/
Ehh... I'm using the stock rom, maybe that's why the sound didn't work. There are no green lines though

Yeah, that's the problem, it HAS to be on cm7 to work

[BOOTANIMATION][HELP] Custom Bootanimation won't work

Hey everyone. Ive been trying to make my own bootanimation. I thought I did everything right putting it together, but it doesn't seem to want to work when I place it in my phone. I set the permissions to rw-r-r and everything.
If anyone could help me out and figure out what i'm doing wrong, that would help a ton. I'll post a link so you can download it and check it out.
Here is the link: http://db.tt/iTeCA4ce
If anyone can figure out what is wrong and help me out that would be awesome.
Thanks!
BTW I'm trying to get this to work on VU 2.39.0

I just tried testing it with Bootanimation Previewer and it won't load.
Did you say to replace everything in the desc file to that?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
yeah sorry for the vaugeness not on computer but files are named right as for the .png, and sense roms are different then aosp for name and location. do a google search and there are some good tutorials. you are almost there. first line is screen size and frame rate second is a 1-0 on off for delay and repeat. with the folder name first.
try finding something to make it cool you can do boot an down boot with sound on sense. may work to frankenstein it find a working zip and replace files and re-zip
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
Ok cool, thanks for the help. It looks like I might just have to frankenstein it, then once i get that down, make upcoming Bootanimations from scratch.
thanks again
From what I can see, compared to other ones, I need to adjust it to 15fps instead of 30.

It works!!!
IMO don't modify boot animation!! Cz if u mess up your device there ll be problem with warranty incase u hv 2 claim !!
Sent from my Galaxy S II via XDA app so sorry if i did any typographical or other mistakes!!
My phone is already rooted so the warranty would already be voided. I also didn't buy my phone from t-mobile, so I don't get a warranty in the first place, Haha.

Even i voided warranty but before giving it to service I ll flash stock & claim warranty!!

You cannot mess-up your device by playing with the boot animation, Worst case, the boot animation won't play at all and you will have a blank screen until your phone has finished booting.

[Q] bootanimation location

I'm using root explorer and I'm trying to find the boot animation file. I've looked in /system/media and its not there like others say. Im using coredroid 1.2. Apps that are suppose to import my animation keep Force closing, maybe because there is no boot animation where it should be. I didnt have this problem in CM7 but I do in this rom. Any suggestions?

For a sense rom it must be located in folder saranhai listed, if it's not then put one in there.

Ah ha! Thanks guys. I debloated and customized the stock GB ROM for my wifes phone, but didn't know where the bootanimation was. Awesome! If i drop a different boot animation in and rename it to TMUS_bootanimation.zip or whatever the bloody current one is called it should work? I'd try it, but she gets grumpy when I play with her phone. I want it to count.

Have you tried to use the search function in root explorer? Search for bootanimation and it should show you where it is...but as others have stated, it should be in the resource folder....

When i try it says cannot paste/move because it is a read-only-file
Then I press mount R/W and try but it says theres not enough space... but I dont know if its safe to delete all the other stuff in that folder..
And if I just put the animation in there, what would happen to the one i have now, where ever it is?

I would cut your current one and drop it on your sdcard as a backup. Rename your bootanimation.zip to whatever the one you cut/pasted is. That might fix both problems. There are a lot of wallpapers in that folder. Delete some you don't care for.
Btw, I went up and down this thread hitting thanks buttons. Its been awhile since someone helped me so I went crazy with it.

alright um... I have a data folder but no local in it. is something wrong with my phone here?
edit: alright sorry about that. Your right! I found it in there. Thanks!
Lol. No.
Did you try /system/media?
Edit: just checked OP. That's the first place you looked. Does your phone have a boot animation currently? I'm asking because if its not in /data/local, /system/media or system/customize/resource then I don't know how you could have one at all.
