Actually it does not work', so i wanted to know how to mount this external sd card reader as an USB hard drive if possible
Assuming you are rooted, snag a drive mount tool and try to mount it from there.
What brand is it?
I have a cheap GE card reader that works. # 97942
Maybe not all card readers are supported.
And you don't need to mount it, if it works it works.
Does it light up?
Do you have a file manager?
With my card reader I have to first put the card in the reader then plug it into the usb. If I plug in the card reader with no card in it and then insert a card in it it does not even come up as usb_storage.
So try putting the card in first and plugging in the USB.
Then it lights up and flickers which means it is reading what is on the card.
Then in my file manager, (file manager HD) I click storage on the left then click the up arrow on the top right. Then I see the usb_storage and click on it.

1. Ensure you install driver normal in your laptap.
2. Switch the USB to USB mass storage, you can find it in system setting->storage->USE mass storage(in menu)
3. The custom kernel for CM10 has bug, need you plug and pull the USB again after you set USB module to USB mass storage.

[Q] Can't Transfer Big Files to Internal/External SD Card After Rooted

Hi all, I just got my Note 3 N-900 Exynos few days ago and I decided to root it. Before it's rooted I can transfer big size files (100mb-700mb) to my internal/external SD card without any problem. But after it's rooted now I can't copy files around those sizes anymore. Anybody know what's wrong and got the solution for this issue? Any help will be much appreciated.

If you typically use USB 3.0 then it might be the 5 minute timeout. Try a large file with USB 2 and see if it completes.

What do you mean? I just plugged in the stock usb that came with the phone to my pc and copy-paste the files. Not sure whether it's the 3.0 or 2.0 usb. When I paste it suddenly the explorer force closing.

I would try a SD Card reader from Best Buy, you should have no problem transferring files with the card out of the phone. it plugs into the computer similiar to a flash drive, and you can access the micro card with a reader.

Yes I do have a micro sd card adapter so I can plug it in to my pc as a removable disk. But it's annoying that I have to unmount my sd card, take it off my phone, put in in the adapter and then plug it in the pc everytime I want to transfer files to my phone.

Mine doesn't have a pop up like it that, the windows explorer just shut down suddenly when I attempted to paste the file.

Did you format the card? I recall not doing that a while back and I had the same problem

No I didn't format both internal and external sd card. You think formatting them is a possible solution for this issue?
none
You wont format the internal, just the external. I can only tell you it worked for me, make a folder for your files, move them off the card, format and put them back on

USB 3.0 connection problem?

First of all, is there a way to connect via USB 3.0 to a Mac? There is Android File Transfer which will support MTP but it's USB2.0 only.
Secondly, when I connect it with USB 3.0 onto Windows the connection drops every 2 seconds. I've heard that this is due to me having an SD card and you need to unmount it first? But if you can't use a card USB 3.0 is rather pointless because the internal storage I would assume is FAT32 and won't take files larger than 4GB anyway.

Install a rom to an empty twrp with no access to a computer?

Hello, so I kinda messed up and deleted Internal Storage in TWRP, the only problem is, I'm on Holiday and don't have access to a computer, the only devices I have is an apple device and an old Samsung device... I've completely run out of ideas to how I could get a rom to my phone? I'm desperate so maybe there's something I'm missing?
Thanks
Run to a local electronics / department store and get an SD card, an SD card reader (that plugs into a USB port), a USB to USB-C adapter, plus a USB to micro-USB adapter. Put the SD card into the adapter and plug it into the micro-USB adapter. Plug it into your old samsung phone or Apple device and mount it as external storage (USB-OTG). Download a ROM and put it on the SD card.
Then put the SD card adapter into the USB to USB-C adapter and plug it into your phone. In TWRP, mount external storage and install the ROM from the SD card.

Otg is broken in official twrp. I don't know if one of the unofficial builds support it or not.

My thoughts exactly. I would love there to be a supported version. I want to decrypt my phone but can't get mtp connectivity on my PC (Windows Vista lol)

According to changelog the test version (83) has otg support https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=73220260
Edit: and otg fix was merged into twrp source, so next official release should work.
