[Q] SGS GT-1900 odin issue - Galaxy S I9000 General

I'm trying to update my SGS GT-1900 to gingerbread with odin, i follow the steps correctly (Remove sim, put it into download mode, connect to pc with odin open) but odin doesn't recognise that the phones connected, do i need to install any drivers or such?

Yes, you need. Unfortunately, you have to install modem drivers. Or standalone, or just install KIES.
But then be careful, you have to: install KIES, reboot, kill two KIES processes running in background (or exclude it from startup via msconfig.exe), and after run Odin.
Standalone drivers should do the work as well...

its working with my friends galaxy s, but its taking a couple of hours and it still says 'setupconnection' is this normal?

no, there is communication error. Normal flash in Odin is 2-5minutes only.

Please look out the COM edit box change to yellow afte connecting.
if not change,
make sure you have installed the correct driver.
Try to reinstall again.

Just install kies first, it will install all drivers needed to connect you galaxy S.
When connected to odin, you should see one of the white boxes turn yellow immediatly, this means you are ready to flash.
If everything fails, just copy the stuff to a USB and try on another PC, I've done it in windows xp 32 bits and win 7 64 bits, so I think you shouldnt have problems in most sistems setups.

managed to flash (pda: jvk Phone: jvk csc: jvk kor) everything works except the internet, kies wont alloow me to fix it.

For data you will need to add back your provider's APNs. Go to
Settings->Wireless and network->Mobile networks->Access Point Names
You have to have the correct APN settings for your network here in order to use data. Search the forums if you don't know the settings for your network. There are several threads with network settings listed.

Can't connect to Kies

Hi,
I flashed the simlicity 1.5 rom on my sgs today, but now my phone wont connect to kies.
I tries uninstalling and installing kies but it doesnt help.
I have all my contacts backed up as .spb. How can i import them to my phone?
Thanks for the help!
Usually on a custom rom you cant connect to kies... What you can try is to see you you are on the correct csc code, as when i was on the wrong one it wouldn't work, now it does. I am on a different rom though.
Find your correct csc code, either on samfirmware.com, searching here or net. Then either download nitrality and go to tools, change csc. Or you can type *#272*your imei# Changing the csc WILL factory reset our phone
Next time if you have questions it may be better to post on the Q&A section
Thank you!!

No network Available

I just flash gingerbread on my galaxy s once rebooted it doesnt recognize my network, I make a network scan but my network Claro Puerto Rico dont appear.
Any guess or help??
Check your APN settings, if backed up, restore, reboot
Sent using TCP/IP
Check your csc code by either
Download nitrality from market and then go to tools
or type *#272*your imei#
Changing csc will factory reset your phone..

You mean 2.3.5 onwards? ok thanks for letting me know.
Best to warn just in case though may not be on the latest yet
Yep, tested recently with JVR... no factory reset anymore
making things easier, isn't it?
EDIT:
originated from Click
I tried it on JVR, stock, odexed... worked without FR (speedmod kernel). Cf kernel, deodexed Ramad's ROM - worked without as well on JVS.
I'm not sure if some customized kernel/ROM will not cause the FR...
I just went to the phone company and they flashed from froyo to gingerbread 2.3.3 but still having problem the data icon stay still on letter E and start to flash on and off constantly.
When E flashes, it means, that EDGE network is available, but phone cannot connect to it. Usually, it means problems with APN settings.
Go to Setings - Wireless Networks - Mobile Networks and Access Points. You shall have some access points available. If not, try to ask your operator to send you setup sms or try so search on internet to find the setup rigth for your operator.

[Q] MIUI v.3 Data Problem

Hi, Just installed this ROM using the recommended kernel (percy_g2's CM#2). I've search for a bug related to data connections but seems It's only me. SIM card recognizes my provider and I can make/receive calls and sms, but using the data plan it's impossible, showing it's disconnected. Checked and unchecked the roaming option and still doesn't work. What are my options?
Reset apn settings to default or manually enter them - your provider can send you the settings
Phone settings
click more or wireless and network settings
Mobile networks
access point names
press menu button on phone
reset to default
Check the apn settings are present & correct for your provider or enter them manually

Did it and didn't work. As far as I recall, in all other roms I have installed I never changed settings ain APNs, they were empty all the time. The phone automatically gets the connection to the carrier. It was all about enable or disable data.
I called my provider but they say the network itself should recognize you inmediatly.
I just flashed stock and it's working there but not in MIUI.

Iv always had my providers access point in my apn settings but may be different for others
The only other thing you can do is try a different stock rom firmware baseband
you can do this by flashing a different stock rom firmware via odin to what you are currently using
See dokys thread at top of dev section for a list of pre done flashable odin firmware or make your own with any latest firmware from sammobile.com using the splitter tool

this is what it writes
Might be a corrupted EFS folder.
I have had the same problem for 3 weeks now. I've tried searching for a solution here and in other online sites to no avail. I personally tried flashing a new stock rom, flashed some odd number of modems, tried factory resetting etc. Nothing worked. I'm afraid it might be due to corrupted EFS folder which I still don't know how to repair.

Your digging around has misled you. The GT-I9505 has 2100MHz support for 3g, as noted here, here, and here. It also has 2100MHz support for LTE. So something else is causing your issue. Are you certain your phone isn't in fact getting an LTE signal instead of 3G?
monteiro-ribas said:

Well... sadly after digging around i found out that the phone doesn't support 2100 frequency.
It's the official firmware for this country, was bought in this country but only gets 2g and 4g

Inside the buildings there is no 4g cover, i really need the 3g
Based upon the information you've provided, you're on the Baltic Black Edition firmware (CSC SEB). The firmware here though doesn't appear to be the problem. The problem is that you need to clear up some confusion here. You're saying you can't get LTE, are using unbranded firmware, yet your phone is locked to a carrier.
In an attempt to clear up things, please provide us with the missing information below, and confirm any already provided information is correct.
1. Model Number
Answer: GT-I9505, based upon the title of the thread.
2. Android Version, found by going to Settings > More > About device.
Answer: 4.4.2, based upon the firmware information.
3. Firmware Version (AP, CP, CSC), found by dialing *#1234# in the dialer or by installing and running Phone Info from the Play Store.
Answer: AP and CP I9505XXUGNJ8, CSC I9505YXXGNK1, which using the sammobile.com firmware checker links to the Baltic Black Edition firmware.
4. Service Provider
5. Country
6. Is the phone rooted? (Yes/No)
7. Is a custom ROM installed? (Yes/No, and the name of the ROM)
Answer: No, if you're able to pull up the firmware version via *#1234#.
You seem extremely knowledgable on this subject, would you mind if i picked your brain ???? Ive been having a similar problem:

NOS (formerly PT Multimedia, ZON Multimedia and ZON Optimus). You will have to flash the latest firmware for your locked device. Download, unzip and flash this firmware via ODIN: HERE.
thanks but as i said before, i've tried many stock firmware, including that... that was te first one because i also thought that was something related to simlock
i will send the phone to warranty, or try at least
@Joku1981: If I didn't have to work today I would have told him the same thing.
@monteiro-ribas: If you intend on having the phone swapped out, you might want to flash the correct firmware that Joku1981 provided the link to before sending the phone in. I do hope you let us know if you get your issue resolved and whether it actually was the phone or, alternatively, the service.

My original post in modems:
Ok guys, my kingdom for a solution, please !!!
Here's the deal, I have a samsung galaxy S4 GT-I9505 bought in hong kong, worked flawlessly for over a year on Telcel Mexico network, took a trip overseas to France bought a sim put it in the phone, worked great !!!!, came home put in my original sim and since then my S4 has been unable to maintain a stable 3g connection, usually connects for a under a minute and reverts back to edge. I've tried many different things recommended on this and other forums:
1.- removing/replacing sim card
2.- removing/replacing battery for over 4 hrs
3.- tried different sim cards from different carriers with same result
4.- wipe and clean install with different firmwares
5.- installed cyanogenmod latest
6.- under network modes, tried selecting every combination of lte, 3g, 2g, automatic network registration and selecting my preferred network.
7.- tried flashing over 30 different modems
8.- flashed latest firmware from sammobile specific to my phone (I9505ZHUFNL1_I9505ZZHFNL1_TGY)
9.- took it to a "technician" and he managed to return my phone in the exact same condition with the exception that now the wifi didnt work (i managed to fix this on my own)
10.- installed advanced signal status from play store which gave acces to other goodies such as selecting radio band between automatic, europe and usa, tried everyone of them with no solution.
Tried to be as thorough as possible, hope someone out there has a solution. I thank you all for your time and experience. Happy Holidays !!!!! I hope I am posting in the correct area, i searched and found this is the place where my problem seems to be discussed
P.D. Since im flashing GPE right now the screenshots no longer reflect what im on but I do have a nandroid back up of this rom and I am about to restore it.
Hope I was thorough, thanks for any help
